"Some chose to stay; fewer were chosen."

This is a work in progress. I had an earlier version that was "pre-battle". I'm wondering if I actually over-did it this time .. lol. I decided I didn't like being a compliant employee of the RDA, so this is what our badges look like *after* the events in Avatar. :D Na'vi kids finger painting with Neytiri's war paint colors; sticky note with Na'vi name covering up old tawtute name; "fixed" job title ;); and a little burning/chewed up edge on the bottom for battle scars. Loving it now. :D

The original version was much cleaner, of course no burn scars on the bottom or "corrections". The bar code actually encodes "kaiateya" (or maybe I made it "kayateia"). My concept was that people who work with avatars and drivers all day might need to be able to recognize someone by either, visually; and the barcode is something they could scan to easily figure out which avatar is yours.

I like, lots.

Great attention to detail, but every corporate ID tag I ever saw has a pic that looks nothing like the actual person.
(or maybe that gets sorted in the next 144 years)

+ 1 from me

That line has always seemed a little ambiguous, did it mean only a few of those who wanted to stay behind where allowed to?
Or that as well as those who chose to stay, a few extra where asked if they would stay?

Irayo ^_^

Yeah, I probably should've chosen some ugly mugshot ;D but I've gotta have at least a little pride ;)

Anyway, wouldn't the picture be 3D by that time in the future? All the other photos in the movie were shown as 3D. Makes me wonder what badges would look like.

I always wondered about that line in the movie, too. It's rather ambiguous. I tend to interpret it the second way, that a few chose to stay voluntarily, and a few others were specifically asked by the Na'vi to stay. It almost seems like foreshadowing of some kind to Avatar 2 ... they stay behind in order to ... what, exactly? :) And it seems a very good chance that anyone who stays has given up any chance of ever going home. Not like Earth was much to go home to, at that point, I guess... but Pandora is pretty harsh to humans. Seems like there had to be a pretty good reason for those who didn't have avatars. Preparing everyone in case the aysawtute come back? ;)

Edit: Sorry, just saw your mouseover where you said some of the same stuff :)

Actually it might not be too hard to do a 3d pic.
A little animation of the badge, tilting (a little distortion in photoshop) the tag from one side to the other.
Get a friend to take several pics of you from slightly different angles wile you keep absolutely still.
Integrate the pics into the frames, so as the animation cycles through it looks like a 3D hologram.

Don't sweat it. Actually it's nice to know that I'm not alone in thinking that way! ;D

Yeah, if I had a way to print a hologram, that would be awesome. :) For now it'll just have to be retro...

Tefpakyu

Loving that! 3D would be cool, possibly hard to make look good without a lot of preparation.

Irayo :)

I actually made one and wore it to an Avatar showing for the Pacific Northwest meetup last night .. was kinda fun. I got a few weird looks from "normals" ;)

The badge is neat and all but I don't know why they would really need identification badges on Pandora, there really isn't anyone else there to trespass on the property.

I thought about that too. :) There are still hundreds if not thousands of people in Hell's Gate, so undoubtedly you'd still need an easy way to figure out who is who and who's authorized in each area (e.g. they required a card of some kind of open the prison).

It seems in the movie they actually have something that looks like a fancy dog tag as badges, but that's not terribly interesting as a geek piece :)

'Normal', a polite way of saying 'boringly average'?

RDA?!? Blasphemy!! lol

Very good job! I've been trying to convince my boss to let me "mod" my name tag.

Hah, yes Itan, I had the same feeling actually .. I thought, it'd be cool to make an RDA badge so I can be an avatar driver and all that .. but then I realized it'd be a lot cooler to be one of the survivors afterward. Thus all the vandalism to the "original" :)

Hey, even the drivers who participated in the battle in the movie (especially Jake) started out as happy RDA toadies. That's the only way to get there at that point.

Hmm, I'm wondering if the survivors have a way of growing their own Avatars, since there is an ample supply of Na'vi DNA available and if they use their own to combine with it, it would take about 5 years for them to grow to maturity.  I'm just wondering if they actually have the technology to create an avatar at Hell's Gate, or if that was only capable on earth.  Providing their exopacs hold out and don't need new filters from earth or something every 5 years or so, that would be an interesting twist.  But I wonder how many of them would be as mentally and spiritually strong as Jake and able to pass through the "Eye of Eywa" and return.  Hmm.   ???

There's also the question of how many would want to. Jake was not very fond of his human body for obvious reasons, and he had some really compelling reasons to stay in his avatar. We are human minds in a human body, and I can't imagine everyone would be happy with being made into something else for good (even if it is a Na'vi on Pandora).

I like it. Very good attention to detail. Well done
My uncle's dog came over a little less than one week ago. I stupidly left the computer plug on the floor. That night, his dog chewed it up. So, the next morning, I go looking for the plug and I find a chewed up piece of metal. I sadly cannot purchase a new plug right now, and my computer's battery is out. I'm at my public library.

Also, I discovered this promising "small business" film company called Mirror Entertainment. It looks really promising: http://www.mirrorente

What does the phrase Eywafpi tsamsiyu mean? The nearest I can come up with is Warrior for Eywa.

You got it exactly :)

It seems like a good description of everyone that participated on the Pandora side of the battle in Avatar.

Wow, thanks, maybe I'm not as much of a Na'vi language noob as i thought I was.
