Well I plan on doing a series of sketches of this recently finished character of mine and a few pages, because I'm already playing the DS game *soon I will buy the PC platform one* and I'm really excited about the story so far, so here you have her my Na'Vi Lìzin'He:

I need to fix a lot of details of the main anatomy, because it has some mistakes that needs fixing, but I Hope you like her~

Kìyevame ma aytsmukán si aytsmuké :D!

here the changes!

the style is interesting, and when you fix those arms and shoulders, it will be very good:)
and i like the concept, it is original!
good work:)

Irayo! I thought the main problem was the face, but maybe I should pay attention on the back and the shoulders...again, Irayo!

well, the face has some minor quirks, but it goes well with the general style, and, personally speaking, i like it as it is, but yes, you could play with it some more if you want:)
the legs and the hips are perfect, though! :)

Wow! Amazing!
What did you use?  I know that's not all hand work.

Please PM me if you are still interested in the real Na'vi tribe.

there's no ë in na'vi btw ... :p

Sry just had to say it ;D

back on topic ... Awesome! Definitely one of the higher quality na'vi drawings I've seen so far on the internet, looks great so far. I think though, that you could really tie it all together and make it shine with a couple changes -

- If she is fullblood Na'vi, here eyes need to be spaced further apart to accommodate a Y bridge with the exception of Dr. Augustine, all the female Na'vi in the movie had particularly wide nose bridges.

- Her left shoulder (our right) seems a little too bulky, and both shoulders should slope downward more - the upper back for both genders in Na'vi are very very triangular, and are important for conveying that lithe look.

- Her breasts are a little oddly defined - it almost looks as though she is wearing a tight fitting shirt atop a bra that lifts and separates a little too much. I understand though that its somewhat important to downplay the chest area but I feel as though it is too downplayed, and the resulting area lacks depth.

- The hands also need a little help - her right hand (our left) seems to only have a single joint... hands are such a pain to draw! I'd recommend taking some reference photos of your own hands in that position and working from those.

- I'd also like to see a 3rd layer of volumizing - a highlights layer - which would further help describe her body's topology.

- Her loincloth could also use a little more love, as it seems extremely flat.

- Finally I'd say her ears need to be a ~little~ higher - the lower connection to the head should line up with the outer edge of the eyes, and the ear itself should be more rounded.

All that said, very nice. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Well, I sketched it with pencil, and I didn't thought of ending colouring it, but I did. I used Photoshop CS3 with a Wacom Bamboo Tablet *really helpful, I really stink with mouse*

"etc...."

I know I know!!!! I just adore how it looks~ *insert txe'lan and love here*

and by the way that's the best advice I've ever read in my whole life!!!! *I'm even taking notes to make more practice sketches of her*

I've been practising hands a lot, and it's a pain drawing a hand with only four fingers, so I have to get used to it before anything D: For the highlights you mention, yeah, I thought of that, but I'm not sure of which combinations of colours are better yet, I have to make a study of the colour of the skin, and this for me is just a mere sketch  :-\ because the emotion took over me and I couldn't resist to colour it. Then the loincloth....yeah....needs more love, a lot more.....I can draw many kinds of clothing....but with the loincloths.....it's like hell.....I can't make them look nice! but there is a way and I'll find it! someday :D.....I hope...yeah. And for the ears nothing to say, I must fix them.

again Irayo ma Skxawng for such helpful advice! if I got time today or tomorrow I'll fix it and show the results :D (any bad grammar or word used.... you're free to kill me)

As far as hands go, I'd say it would be easier to simply draw the hand with 5 fingers, if drawing with 4 alone is an issue, and then simply cut off the 5th finger, and shorten the 4th and 3rd finger to match.  Keep in mind that fingers rarely bend backwards past the 2nd knuckle. ( first knuckle, 2nd knuckle, 3rd knuckle, fingernail ) wheras the 3rd knuckle can bend backwards, but only when pressure is being applied outward from the hand, and the hand is either relaxed and dragging, or trying to grip, and NOT claw. If a hand claws, the bend is inward to the palm. When it is relaxing, the bend at the 3rd knuckle is slightly inwards, and never straight. In fact, even when pointing, most fingers curve outward slightly past the 3rd knuckle.

I think the most glaring issue with the loincloth is you're ignoring how the legs meet the abdomen, the cloth is not draping over what is beneath it, and since it obscures so much of her lower frontal abdomen and leg, (as opposed to neytiri's, which was quite thin) it should be slumping inwards a little bit because of the legs. Again, the best thing you can do here is take a picture for reference. I have many such embarrassing pictures myself, but they're all important.  Try taking a t-shirt and putting a belt through the sleeves, then put the belt around yourself and notice how the cloth follows your legs inward in the mirror.

I'm glad my critique was informative and helpful :)

Oh, and I'm playing the DS one too.  Looking for the Wii game, but I can't find it anywhere :[

I'm glad that you did some of it by hand.  I plan to work on some drawings of Sanumeyu's Chris and his avatar, and also of my avatar charrie.  I'll have time the next three days, but no access to pictures.  So hopefully I can remember enough from the wonderful Skxawng here.  Honestly, ma tsmukan, you are amazing and not a Skxawng.
I find inspiration in your work, Lìzin'Hë. Cheers.

Beautiful job! If you just do some of the edits that Skxawng mentioned you'll have it perfect!

I deleted it because I'm going to make it again (the other one is like a stick more than what is has to be xD) So, I'm going to fix it to look like a real hair thing.

Strange question for you-- how big is the original, the paper sketch? I am an old-fashioned pen & paper illustrator myself, learning to use a new Wacom 9x12 tablet, and I wonder what size you started with to get the scale & details started?

Awesome work.

I may ask for some advice at some point. I do well at black & white but am horrible at color.

Looks great ... two things tho:

- The Fingers look great! ... only they're a little short and they need another knuckle :P

- Highlights look good! HOWEVER it would be good if the highlight in the middle abdomen were on the opposite side of the belly button - where it is now indicates that light is coming from the other direction
