I'm not sure where else to post this, as skxawng's awesome tutorials are what spurred it:

Next up is part 3, in which I'll go over converting a photo of a human nose into a na'vi nose, and maintaining human characteristics. That might take a couple days tho.

:D Can't wait.

Here's to not knowing exactly what you're saying and having fun with it.

looks good, I'm glad the tutorial was helpful - I can see you've definitely got the basics of the nose down :)

Update:  I'm probably not going to be doing the tutorial in the next couple days. I've got about a week before entries for "Spectrum" are closed, and since I keep missing it each year I'd like to finally submit at least SOMETHING, so most of my spare time for now is going to be going towards that project.

However, when that passes, I've managed to figure out how to record my screen as well as my voice, so hopefully the next part of the tutorial will be a video of me working, instead of simply a series of images.

The spoken part of the nose tutorial is still being worked on, gotta fix up some audio stuff and do a little more editing. Its long (about 30 minutes) though I'm considering cutting it down and re-recording the audio on some parts so its not just me rambling on...

But I figured y'all would be interested in the time lapse

cheers!

You should just make the video downloadable.  Post it somewhere as a .zip or .rar, and provide a good link.  That way, we can view it on our own time, ya know.

Just download it straight from youtube using www.keepvid.com. Pop Skxawng's link in the box, hit download, and a list of downloadables should come up.

so uh here's part 3 of the nose tutorial

enjoy

Skxawng, that was ridiculously awesome!  I think it will be very helpful for my next attempt.  Thank you so much for posting this. :)  Will you be doing any additional tutorials?  I would be really interested in hearing why/how you did some of the techniques in your last time lapse video, specifically when you were copying and pasting bits of the original human face onto the Avatar face.  Was it for textures, or another reason?

+1 karma for you! :D

sera - Thanks! and yes, the skin-copy pastes were for texture.  Additionally, when you stretch them out the right way the texture which is warped is subtle, but reinforces the angles of the face.

Thanks, I will attempt that at some point.  I still don't really know how to do textures (I've only used them a couple of times, and that was while following tutorials), but I am slowly wading my way through the Tome of Photoshop CS3 Knowledge (i.e. the For Dummies guide) and will get there eventually!  I haven't had a chance to try your tutorials yet as I've hardly been home all weekend, but maybe I will get to it later this week.
