So there are a LOT of different threads scattered around with posting their avatars so I figured this thread could be sort of an avatar photomanip dumping ground and gallery. Of course feel free to create a separate thread as well, but yeah, thought it'd be nice to have them all together so people can browse through them without too much trouble.

Anyway I was listening to the Rolling Stones today and.. well.. this happened:

Huh. Na'vi zombie movies. Now there's a thought. (Heheh)
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Here's my 1st attempt at avatar photo-manip on myself. Forgot to add the rest of the ear and I think the eyes are not big enough..

How About the Beatles?  If thats the way a guy from the Rolling Stones can look (dont know anything about the Rolling Stones, let alone know what they sound like) Im sure Ringo could look pretty good in Blue.

I'm a beginner at Photoshop and have never tried a photomanipulation that was quite this elaborate, but here's my very first attempt at turning myself into a Na'vi.  I'm not thrilled with it but I figure it's not too bad for a first attempt.  I really need to get some better pictures of myself to play around with - this one wasn't a great quality and it was difficult to work with for this particular manip.  It was also my first time playing with the liquify tool and didn't do a great job with that either but I've been working on it for two days and figured that was enough - I don't think I'm going to get it any better than this!  I'll try again with a new picture sometime.

I'm so happy I found this community - I've seen Avatar twice and loved it.  I definitely want to learn Na'vi if I can, but I think I need to learn some linguistics terms first as I was lost on my first read-through of the Pocket Guide.

I've posted some of my Na'vi photomanips here before but I'd figured I'd post a comparison image for my latest.

P.S. Working on doing Conan O'Brian right now.

She looks better as Na'vi, but who wouldn't look better with a tail?  Good job

I've been killing time avoiding subjunctive verbs. Procrastination ftw!

Much better than your first one! You're definitely improving, Tìsyaw!

A couple things immediately stick out though, and the whole thing would be tied together and really perfected, if fixed.

First and foremost, the nose, while more or less correct would better represent the original nose if the nostrils in the conversion were as wide as the original nostrils. From there the nose would then get wider. Right now the nose feels rather pointy. Additionally, remember that the septum is far more visible, and should come down about halfway between where the septum of the human nose hits the face and the lips.

Lastly, the eyes could be overall a little bigger. While what I discussed in the avatar proportions thread was roughly 30-40% increase in size, it helps to look at your own eyes in relation to your face - you've got relatively large eyes, which is increased subconsiously by the fact that they are dark, furthermore they seem to be somewhat wide-set. knowing this, in an avatar'd face, you've got to caricaturize details like this a little bit, so I'd say the eyes should be 40-45% larger than the original, and set farther apart.
