Tsamsiyu Atsteu

This took me two and a half days to finish. The body and face took about 4 hours, and then it was refine, refine, refine.

Tsamsiyu gives the tawtute a little message... "This is my home - GET OUT!"

Comments, tips and suggestions on improving my art are most welcome! Irayo!

Irayo! Here's another I wound up finishing, almost scrapped it:

I am really really happy with how the body came out in this one. :)

Great job!

Rolyu

This one's better, I think.  Well done though.  Keep practicing and try to loosen up the arms and legs.

Tsamsiyu Atsteu

Irayo. I'm not too happy about the hands but I like the pose.

Yes, this one is nice, better then the first one! Something bothering me a little with the queue, it needs to "stand out" a little more, can't really explain it.
Keep it up!

Tsamsiyu Atsteu

Irayo! About the queue... what bothers you specifically? Tips are welcome. I can't improve without 'em :)

Great job!  I'm terrible at drawing hands; those are better than any I could draw ::)
"Hey!  Ngaru lu fpom srak?"
"What the heck is that?"
"It's uh, Na'vi, you know, from 'Avatar'."
"Sorry, I haven't seen that movie."

Well, it looks like it's long braid and unless I knew it's a Na'vi female, a distinction between a braid with a queue in the end or just a braid will be harder. Maybe to make the edges of the braid a little more separated from another, similier to an opening of a flower would put a little more emphasize on it, maybe it's just me being crazy haha :D.
But except that good job! Keep it up, waiting for your next.

Rolyu

the problem with the braid is that it is stiff and has no movement.

Tsamsiyu Atsteu

Irayo, ma tsumkan.

As for the hands - irayo! three fingers and a thumb are disgustingly easier than 4 fingers and a thumb for some reason :)

As for the queue we know the Na'vi have no control over it so next time make it "hang" more? And define it better, is that it? Irayo all so much for the help!

Ewya ngahu.

Yes, I just used the term "stand out", it's should be a little different than the braid, have some kind of distinction.

Rolyu

Pinky (ie?) fingers are extremely awkward to draw unless you're drawing anime then they get cute.  :P  I can't wait to see your next drawing!

Tsamsiyu Atsteu

Irayo ma 'eylan. I have more art for you to see and critique!

Tsamsiyu practicing with her spear in the Pandoran jungle:

And Ralu, her ikran:

I suck at shading! Heeeelp!!!

Rolyu

Such a happy Ikran!

I love how the braid moves with her in this new drawing.  :)  Her legs are very short, compared to her body size.
You could move the ears forward towards her eyes a bit more, and make the legs a bit longer in the next one, and see how that works out for you.

Are you looking at pictures of Na'vi as you do this?  I try to always use a reference.  I found a picture of a naked woman online with the Na'vi build, I can send you that if you want to use it for reference.

Tsamsiyu Atsteu

Hehe, hi is a happy Ikran, isn't he? LOL! I'm VERY proud of how his face/head came out. I studied as many images of Ikran as I could and I think it paid off.

As for your question, no I don't usually look at a Na'vi reference when I'm drawing, though I do have many pictures/art that I study beforehand. I do see that I needed to move the ear a smidge, yeah. Her legs look okay to me but then I can't draw feet so I cheat and hide them and the ankles :P I would appreciate any references for study that you could give me, irayo.
