Zbrush - 3D Na'vi Head

Been testing out some 3d sculptures of the Na'vi head. I've been doing a few drawings and thought I might challenge myself on 3d.

Oh my...the only thing I can think of for now is the dots, they are in the skin, not on it.

My other ride is an Avatar.

If this is you challenging yourself then I think you're doing pretty well.

I used to sculpt (polymer clays) and have recently started playing with zBrush. It's not as easy as I thought it would be. :D

One criticism I would make though, is that the basic skull shape is off quite badly and so it's affecting your ability to make the overall face look real. One of the approaches I've seen with zbrush (and it's something I used to do with clay) is essentially to sculpt a skull as if that was all you were going to make. Get the relative bone masses in and the shapes right, then you can layer on the muscles and finally the skin. It's like the forensic reconstruction stuff that you see on CSI.

Might not work for you, and it's time consuming, but could be worth a try.
