Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

182) "G'Day Major Tai.  What's happening where the Blue Skins live?"  Tai came out of link and was being questioned even before the magnetrons had stopped spinning.  "We were having a great party to celebrate our newest aysmukan sì aysmuke at the Omatikaya Kelutral. Some of us got a little silly with the Kava. Including Ateyo."
"Ateyo got drunk?" Dianna was helping Tweety to climb out of her link chamber.Tweety was saying, "Yeah, I was teasing Ateyo about being a lightweight.  A CHEAP DATE is how I phrased it!"
"AW, that's cold!" said Dianna.
Major Tai came to her yawntu's defense. "I wouldn't say she was drunk, just silly."
"Major Tai!? As opposed to her regular silliness?" scoffed Diana.
"Yes! Srane!  As a matter, of fact, Ateyo has been step-mom to eight orphans for eight years. She has always been the clown, but always with the responsibility of eight orphans at the back of her mind." explainedTai.
"Wait, I thought you said that you kept that little one for yourselves. Peppy, isn't it?"
"Close. Pxepxi!  She has completely come out of her shell since Ateyo and I adopted her."
Ka'alani chimed in.  "And we adopted Kofi.  He wants to ride a lefngapa ikran with Auntie Tai."
"And I've got little Tanis." said Captain Janet Henderson.  "She is quiet. But slowly she is coming around. She doesn't play with the other children much, but she has chosen me, for some reason."
"And we are finding out these reasons.  Mo'at showed us this gigantic tapestry made of light, showing how we are all interconnected." Tweety was getting excited once again.
"What, you mean like a fiber optic display?" Dianna was puzzled over that concept.
"Well, Yes, and No.  It was in our minds and she shared it with us at the Tree of Voices near the Blue Heart Gate. But because our Avatars are built of half Na'vi DNA and half human DNA we are related to certain Na'vi." Tweety was creating the tapestry in the air around her. I'm Ateyo's half sister!" announced Tweety proudly.  What could be better than that? So if Ateyo is my Sis and Ateyo is Tai's Muntxate, that makes Tai my sister-in-law!"
"And Ikxeru is Ateyo's cousin, literally. So now we know why we have felt this gravitational pull towards one clan or the other." said Tai.  "We are related!  I found out that Ikxeru has my Na'vi DNA so he is like my father or my brother."
"He's your Cuz, Cuz!" grinned Taifa'.  "And mine too. But I am wondering if I am also related to the Eastern Sea clan because we love the ocean.  And look at my skin, I'm getting a purple sun tan!"  It took three seconds before he realized that he had indicated his skin, but he was in yumontokx. Everyone at the table fell out laughing.
"I don't know if it has to do with the Na'vi blood, bro.  It's 'cause we are Samoan!"
"Well, I'm Hawaiian, and Tobi is Japanese Hawaiian, and Alekxsi's Wade is Hauli Hawaiian, and we ALL want to visit the Eastern Sea Clan."
"Mo'at said that we should get together with OUR Tsahik Meykir at OUR Tree of Voices, near the Zongsteng Alor olo', so that we can further explore the relations." chimed in Janet. "AND all the orphans actually ended up with some one who is related to them. So I'm anxious to know who was Mom to Tanis. I could be her Aunt. Or her Mom". The thought was sobering.
"So where did they get all this Na'vi DNA?" asked Melvin."So you mates are all me half sisters an half brothers? Literally!" Melvin was incredulous.
Major Tai answered; "Mo'at and Pxatxi said that the students and the parents at Grace's school were asked to give swabs from their cheeks. Little did they know that their DNA was being recombined with human DNA to create Avatars.  But with ayswin, the neural braids, we as Avatars are connected with the Na'vi throughout history. We ARE Na'vi, by half.  Even Mo'at said so.  We are already one of the People, already Na'vi!  We just need to learn HOW to be who we are destined to be. And like it has been said, It takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to raise an Avatar to be a TUTAN. A person!"
"So basically," observed Dianna, we just gotta learn to remember what we already know."
"Yeah!"
"Well sign me up! What are we waiting for?!  When do I get MY Avatar?"  Dianna's impatience was only thinly disguised as enthusiasm.
"I'm not sure.  Patrica Fenwick said something about four Filipino's for the Eastern Sea Clan and four  for the four Techs of the Pa'li clan."
"Naw-uh! I HATE the ocean and I'm no Filipino.  Dang! Tewti! I still gotta wait!."
"Don't worry, Sis. We will keep you involved with the clan til your Avatar comes in!" Tweety gave Dianna a reassuring hug.

183)~"Sanu! Sanu! Ngaru lu txen?   Pxepxi had crawled over to where Ateyo lie sleeping.
"Stum ke,"  "Pelun Ma'ite?  Kawnga unil?"
"Kehe. No I can't sleep." Pxepxi crawled into the outstretched arms, and pressed her tear stained face into Ateyo's shoulder.
"I'm afraid that the kawnga sawtute will come and kill everybody, and I'll be all alone again." The child could no longer withhold the tears, and started sobbing fearfully.  Ateyo sat up and and enveloped the youngster in her arms.  She rocked her gently and cooed soothingly to her.  "Tam tam, tam tam.  We have all seen some pretty terrible things.  There are only a very few kawnga sawtute still around, but Ma Tai and Ma Taifai' will chase them away until they fall off the land. And they will never, never hurt us again."
Ateyo held her until the sobbing stopped, and Pxepxi emitted a shuddering breath.  Ateyo thought she had fallen back to sleep and was going to lay her down, but Pxepxi was not finished.
"Sanu, is Stxongyu Txett alu kawnga tsawtute?"
"Kehe, Ma 'Ite.  Eywa says that he has Txe'lan Aean
"Then why do you look at him so mean?" the Child went directly to the heart of the matter.
"I don't treat him mean. I'm NICE to him!" Ateyo was immediately defensive.
"Stum ke." With a sinking heart, Ateyo knew that she had set a poor example for her daughter. She stood convicted as charged.
"Tse, that is NOT very nice way for me to behave! Especially if Eywa says that Ma Txett has an Eana Txe'lan!  Somebody should BOP me with a wooden spoon for having such bad manners!  I should be nicer to Ma Txett.  You can BOP me tomorrow, but now you must go back to sleep."

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

184)~Ateyo was pretty pleased with her responses to her distressed 'evi, but as she lay back down she experienced the whirling dizziness that came with too much Kava. One cup didn't usually affect her in this manner, but then she realized that she hadn't drank a whole cup since, well eight years. No wonder! Cheap date! She wondered what that meant, but she was sleeping before she could ponder the question long. And it seemed an instant later that there was a nuzzling in her ear. She moaned to herself, thinking that she had to escort Pxepxi uo utral, , she KNEW that she shouldn't have let her drink so much water before sleep time. She was about to drift off to sleep once again, when she realized that Pxepxi would NOT have been nuzzling her ear.  She rolled to her back and came nose to nose with ngeyä muntxate
"Rewon lefpom, ma kalina Ateyo. Ngaru lu fpom, srak?"
"Srane, ma muntxate akalin. Oeru lefpom!" "  But once she had sat up, she couldn't verify that. Her brain had a peculiar fuzzy sensation and there was a high pitched ringing in her head. Tai sat with her enfolded in the comfort of her tall blue self.  "Za'u ma oeyä yawnetu.  I wish we had some coffee for you."  Tai carefully marched Ateyo down the interior spiral walkway from the Avatar Sleeping Lounge, to the communal area below.  They carefully picked their way among the partiers that were strewn about, greeting the aysahik and other women who were already serving large vats of a hot beverage that didn't taste like coffee, but had the same effect.
Tsahik Meykir raised an eyebrow as she passed Ateyo a steaming cup. "Tse, it looks like our Ateyotsyìp got a little bit silly last night!  Drink some of this, ma oeyä tsmuktu.  it will help."  Ateyo took the pro-offered tsngal saying "Irayo Ma Tsmuke" and winced at the rising sun that illuminated her hair like a halo. Tweety Castillo came down the steps with Pxepxi in hand.  Pxepxi noticed that her Mommy wasn't the bubbling-personality-of-the-morning and dutifully announced, "Ma Sanur väng nìtxan Kava txonam!'
Tweety Castillo also noticed that Ateyo looked somewhat hungover. "Rewon lefpom, my silly tsmuk!   You look like you could use a bowl of menudo! The breakfast of champions!"
"What means MENUDO, Ma Tai?"  Tweety explained about the spicy tripe soup that was a general purpose remedy in her culture. Tsahik Meykir told Tweety, "Teach me how to make that my Tsmuke!  We could use LOTS of it on a morning like this!"
"What means CHEAP DATE ma Tai?" unfortunately Tweety was now associated with this appellation.  The other Avatars overheard this and cracked up laughing.  "Who told you this?" asked Tai, looking somewhat annoyed.
"Ma Tweety!"
"Tse.  Ma Tweety gets to explain it to you in front of MA FRAPO!"
Tweety was already hugging Ateyo. "I didn't mean anything MEAN by it. It's just that you are a One Cup Wonder!"  This got an even bigger laugh from the ayuniltìrantokx that had now gathered around the steaming ceramic vat.  Ateyo would have asked for a translation of that phrase but Norm informed everyone that Ateyo was limited to a tsngal because she was too small to drink from the ceremonial bowl.  Ateyo was about to explain that she was out of practice because of her self-imposed abstinence.  But Meykir'ite, the tsahk's daughter handed her a hot, wet towel for her face.  "Ma Ateyo, we will have to get you an even smaller cup, next time!"  Meykir'ite had the forethought to provide twice as many towels for the revelers. They certainly needed it!
Mendelson, Mo'at and Ted Demaria also descended from above, causing the conversation to stop, as all greeted the Tsahik, her companion and their guest, Stongyu Txett, as he was still called. "Oel Nagati Kameie, Ma Mo'at" came many voices and gestures of greeting and respect.  The People parted and waited until Mo'at was enthroned upon her favorite log, with Krekori at her side and Txetx nearby.  Furtively, Pxepxi took up a wooden spoon and brandished it at Mommy Ateyo. Grins came from those who were familiar with the joke, especially to know that Ateyo's own daughter was participating. Ted was slightly bewildered and entirely pleased that Ateyo addressed him.  "Rewon lefpom, Ma Txetx. Oel ngati kameie." Did you sleep well last night?
It wasn't entirely clear what his response was, because Pxepxi was announcing in a loud voice. "Ma Sanu has GOOD MANNERS!" Only a few people were alert enough to realize that a challenge had been met and overcome, but Tsahik Meykir and Tsahik Mo'at  exchanged knowing looks and nodded at Pxepxi's wooden spoon."It seems we have a helper!"  Alekxsi and Wade came strolling down from above, greeting everyone.  They were surprised to find Nìm Kirpxi among those present.  "Who is minding the shop?" asked Wade. "I am!"  he assured them.  "I knew when you were awake, and why look at instruments when I can just walk over here and see everyone?"  He was back in his yumontokx, but some of his shyness had been left behind. Alekxsi smiled to herself seeing how The Shy One had gained new confidence, perhaps only because he had a Blue self concept.  She had every confidence that he would attract someone suitable as a partner in his future.  And look at what love had done for her? She and Wade had each traveled to the next star system before they found each other. And they had worked for the same company for years yet had not met. Eywa's handiwork, definitely.
"What is in store for us today?" Alekxsi glanced at both Mo'at and Major Tai.  "The only requirement of me today is that Tweety and Tobi have to switch places again with Dianna and Melvin. So I'll be providing transport back to Hidden Base and Olo'Zongsteng Alor. We need to spend some time with our clans and learn more about living the Na'vi way."
Mo'at nodded approvingly and addressed those of the Omatikaya clam. "Kxawm kxamtrrmaw we can go to the Tree of Souls and learn more of our shared heritage!"  That suggestion was met with enthusiasm.
Patricia Fenwick then spoke up. "Someone needs to fly out to the Eastern Sea Clan and the Pa'li clan Txitikxtxipen. And bring up their avatar drivers because we have eight avatars ready to be decanted this morning."
Colonel Schroeder and Major Tai began strategizing. "Colonel Schroeder, I'll switch birds with you.  I need to get a few uniltìrantokx to the Hidden Base and you might need to fly some announcement sorties, to those other two clans."
"Sounds like a plan, Tai. Let's sky up after breakfast!"

185)~ "Here's the deal," said Major Tai to her newest family members. "Mefo need to lie down in the dragon and make yourselves comfortable.  Then I'll go get your yumon selves and load you up as well.  Daniels and Wade and Henderson will be transporting members of the Z clan and the rest of the kids,  We've got our two, right?"
"Srane Ma Tai!"  Two little thumbs were held up, and Pxepxi proclaimed, "I  flying chopper with  Ma Tai."  Kofi made a face at her and vaulted into the dragon with one leap.  "I get to sit with Ma Tobi-San! sì Ma Tweety!"  Meuniltìrantokx climbed aboard and lay down side by side.  Before long they were unconscious and were soon joined by their yumon selves.
"Gee this is weird," said Tweety as she sat next to her comatose Blue body. "This is going to take some getting used to!"  Ateyo sat down next to Tweety. Tobi sat next to his Avatar, and Kofi sat wih him.  Ka'alani sat closer to the open doorway watching her yawntu, Taifa' as he manned the door gun. Tobi was stealing glimpses at Tweety and her Avatar and Ateyo.  "Excuse me for staring at you, but I'd swear I'm looking at twins! I didn't notice it until you were both in Blue Skin, but you two look nearly alike."  Ka'alani was now gazing upon the pair. And Tweety's Avatar.  "Well, they don't look like twins, but there is definitely a strong family resemblance.  What do you think, Ma Yawntu?"  Taifa' relaxed his stance at the gun, wondering if the gun was even necessary now.    "I think we all look a lot like Eyktan Ikxeru.  But Ka'alani looks a lot more like Tsahik Meykir.  I'll bet when Meykir shows us the family tree under the Family Tree of Voices, we are going to see lots of purple threads of light joining us all together."
The chopper lifted off the ground and the conversation was interrupted with HIYALOVAYs and EYWA NGAHUs.  Alekxsi was on the ground with her arm around Neytiri, waving at the departure.  "See, those two look alike, as well." remarked Tobi.  Kofi craned his neck around to study Tobi's face behind his face mask. "Ma Tobi-san looks like Ma Ikxeru with long eyes." he observed. The child meant no offense, At least he isn't poking his fingers in my eyes, like Pxepxi does! thought Tobi to himself. But the resemblance was clear, especially in the brow line.  The rest of the journey to the Olo'Zongsteng Alor was spent in the comparison of facial features and bone structures.  From the front cabin Major Tai wondered aloud, why she felt so familiar with Alexksi.
"It's not that we look alike, or anything, but it feels like I've known her all my life. I know we are connected, but I forgot to look for our threads' convergence."
Taifa' remarked from his door gunner position, "Maybe your human DNA is related!  You've always felt that she was your favorite tech."  Tweety look somewhat annoyed to hear that because she felt such an affinity for Tai. But Tai shrugged off Taifa's comment.
"Stranger things have happened. But that is very doubtful."
Tobi offered his theory; "Maybe there was some gene splicing going on. Because we all seem to have this purple tint going on in our skin. But we have all felt like family even before we knew our Avatars where being grown. Tweety and I nearly cried when we were not immediately assigned to Zongsteng Alor."  Tweety had never admitted that to Tobi. She wondered how he knew, but assumed he was projecting.  It was however, quite true.  She hugged Ateyo even closer claiming their sisterhood.  "I don't know if we ever admitted it to Eyktan Komakti or Tsahik Tsenu'ite, but they seemed to know it as well."
The chopper was flying towards the rising sun, and Major Tai had the windscreen darkened to it's deepest setting. Upon hearing mention of Eyktan Komakti, Ateyo blurted out. "I liking his tumpin re'o 'ei'oi'o ceremonial head ornament, headress.  Him for show   us how hunting ayyayo for make new 'oio'. Him say is good eat!"  She was looking forward to that outting. But first she had to organize a fruit gathering expedition so that she could keep the Kava in good supply. Then maybe they could make clay pots at Olo'Vawma 'Or , and then they could go visit the Eastern Sea Clan.
She was relating all the future outings that they could do together.  Ka'alani was visualizing Taifa's strong legs on a surfboard. Tobi was anxious to know about the firing techniques used for Dark Lake Pottery, and Tweety was wondering if she would have to rotate out of any of these events. She was already regretting having to trade off with Dianna.
Then Tai interjected, "Ma Ateyo!  You are going to have to teach me to make a proper Navi bow."
"Srane! Then I get to use your yumon-size bow!  Is txur   for make niltsan tspang.   She was grinning to herself when she overheard Tai saying, Zongsteng Alor Kelutral in sight.  Twenty minutes to Hidden Base from there.  The voices of the other pilots could be heard acknowledging that report.  She reminded the other pilots that she had to drop off Tobi and Tweety in exchange for Dianna and Melvin.  "You others go to the HomeTree now.  We will join you before kxamtrr . Just save us something to eat!"
Captain Henderson's voice was heard crackling over the intercom. "YES MOMMY!"

186)~Tai keyed the intercom, "Hidden Base in site, ten minutes out."  Once the ship was safely on the ground, just outside the main hangar door, Tai, Taifa' and several techs off-loaded the two undreaming DreamWalkers. It was interesting to Tweety and Tobi that they were accompanying themselves on the gurneys to the Remote Link Site at the back of the cave complex.
Dianna seemed to be having difficulty dealing with the unresponsive Avatar bodies. "Oh Honey, this is just SO WEIRD!  I almost said SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE'S SLEEPING but I realized that people say that when they see someone in a casket.  It gives me the HEEBIE JEEBIES.  I almost want to slap you and say WAKE UP! WAKE UP! YOU ARE CREEPING ME OUT!"
"Don't you DARE slap my Avatar.  Just think, that will be you in another week or two.  I'm sure you don't want ME to slap YOUR Avatar."  Tweety was kind of defensive.
"Relax, Girl.  I said ALMOST!  I wouldn't be smacking anyone.  Hn,uh, No. Kehe.  That would be like pulling a thanator's tail! Wait!  I just learned that phrase; Kawkrr rä'ä za'ärìp kxetset palulukanä!
Ateyo overheard the commotion and laughed to hear Dianna make that comment in Na'vi.  But it effectively broke the tension of the moment.  Tweety replied, "Oh that's funny.  You have to teach me that one!"
Melvin could hardly contain himself.  "Ok so what's next, Mate?"
"I've got good news for you Tsmukan.  You and Dianna will be in Blue come next week.  Eight are being decanted today, but like I said yesterday, it's the two Filipino couples at Eastern Sea and four techs at that Pa'li clan Tik-tiki-tiki-pen, or something.
"Txikx-txipxen.  Olo'Txikx-txipxen." corrected Ateyo, trying  hard not to giggle.
Dianna had started braiding her hair in cornrows.  "Ma Ateyo! Come here girl, I could use some help braiding my hair!  I want to make a good impression on the clan when I show up!"  Ateyo and Pxepxi were more than happy to help her.   Ateyo was very proud of Pxepxi and recommended her; "Pxepxi is tsulfätu  for braid all things:  hair, leather stripes, vines. She helping you! "
Sargent Barilla walked up to Major Tai.  "I wasn't expecting to see the Dragon here.  That beast requires lots more fuel than your Samson. What happened to it? It's all in one piece, isn't it?"
"Good to see you, Sarge! Srane. It is in one piece.  The Colonel borrowed it to do a few small sorties and we needed to get the Avatars home for Tweety and Tobi.  Let's meet in the Ready Room in ten minutes, we all need to catch up and be on the same page. I have been gone so long I don't know everything that's going on here.  That's not good. I shouldn't  have to say, I'M THEIR LEADER, WHICH WAY DID THEY GO?!?
Sargent Barilla shook Tai's hand and said, I'll have everyone there in ten!"  He turned heel and took off.  Tweety and Tobi said their Hayalovays and made certain that their Avatars were "resting" properly in the "Avatar Sleeping Lounge" of Hidden Base.  Tai caught Melvin by the elbow as he passed by.  "Have you got anything I can drink Tsmukan? I'm dying of thirst!"
"Sure thing, Mate. Tsmuke. I've got some fruit juice, the stuff that tastes like guava, and, for your dining pleasure, LIMA BEANS AND HAM!"  Everyone raided the kitchen before taking their meals to the Ready Room.
Captain Henderson, still in Avatar form, was in the Ready Room moments before Tai and pretended to be surprised.  "Well, well, well.  Our fearless leader returns!"  Major Tai, pretending to have command authority in spite of the silliness replied. "AT EASE! The best thing for me to do is listen as you fill me in on what has been happening here. "  And she began unceremoniously to wolf down her lima beans and ham.
Sargent Barilla took the floor and described the fuel situation and voiced his concern about the fuel consumption of the Dragon and made rough projections about the fuel stores if it had to be filled.  Tai assured him that the Dragon still had three quarters of its fuel load remaining.  "Have the boys top off the Samsons, I can safely take the Dragon to Zongsteng Alor AND Blue Heart Gate.  It can be refueled there.  If we are lucky, there will have been fuel off loaded from the shuttles.  Let me get you up to speed about the happenings at the Blue Heart Gate."  She shared what she had learned from Pxatxi and the Shuttle Pilots about the transfer of more gestation tanks, and the construction of the new wing. She shared about Mo'at's revelation of the web of life which shows how they are all interrelated.  She assured Melvin and Dianna that they would get a chance to see that web at the Tree of Voices near the Z clan.  This phenomenon, once it had been revealed to Mo'at, was now apparent to all the Tsahik to share with their clans.
But most importantly, she revealed to them the appearance of Ted Demaria and how he had defected from the RDA.  "This man managed to survive in the Pandoran jungle for six months before he made it to the Well of Souls.  The RDA do not think that he survived his escape.  They think that he was killed and eaten by palulukans, as his guard was."  Tai observed serveral incredulous looks and overheard some comments about the guards.  "Ted informed me that the RDA has three commanders remaining who would make Quaritch look like a school child.  They maintain discipline through TERROR in their own ranks.  Ted thinks that there are more dissidents among the RDA, but they might not have broken away.  Eywa has seen his Blue Heart, so we know that he is trustworthy.  He is being nurtured back to health at the Omatikaya Kelutral AND"  she waited for the murmuring of the crowd to subside. "AND he knows where the last RDA hold outs were based when he left.  He was their communications expert, so he can probably relocate them."  Tai had to wait a long while for the cheering to subside.
"When we find these people, I don't want anyone letting themselves get shot, but DO pay attention to any signs of surrender from the rank and file troops.  The three homicidal maniacs that command this unit, will never surrender and would prefer to die in combat,  Which we can most certainly arrange."  The room exploded with cheering.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

(Found an anomally in the chapter numbering, Mawey ma Na'viya! there are now TWO chapter 186)

186)~The morning was not yet over when Tobi and Tweety gave their goodbye hugs to their companions with promises that they would "hold down the fort".
"And we will give you an entire week with your new soiaia!" family promised Tobi. Pxepxi was in his arms, tapping on his mask, saying, "Ma Tobi-San having ngima menari!"    She was somewhat perplexed to find that Tobi and Tweety were not coming  on this trip.  "Oh honey, you have to finish braiding my hair!  And then you gotta braid my Hair when I get my Blue Body!" exclaimed Dianna. This appeased Pxepxi a only little , "Oel  new nìwotx oeyä mipa soaia ayhapxitu za'ueru."    Tweety gave her a hug.  "Don't you give me that pouty lip thing." She touched the eveyä seyri and said, "We all have to take turns.  Ngati 'o' lu Ma Txi'anna."  She hoped she had said, You have fun with Dianna.  The child had a momentary look of puzzlement and then gave Tweety another kiss.  "Hiyalovay!"      Pxepxi then took Dianna's hand and skipped off to follow Ateyo and Tai.  " Fwa tsnì makto alo  lefnapa ikran Ma Tairu!"  It's my turn to ride the metal ikran with Tai! " Kofi ran ahead and vaulted into the chopper.
After he was strapped in and all the passengers accounted for, Kofi had the privaledge of flipping the switches and causing the Tilt Rotor Blades and engines to roar into life.  Major Tai could appreciate his unabashed delight, and regretted that eventually the engines would be silenced forever.  Tai did her radio check and communicated with all her pilots, "On 'Rrta I would have said SKIDS UP but here I'll say, ALAKXSI? Everyone responded MAKTO KO!
Kofi's attention was riveted to every move that Major Tai made.  She could sense that he was trying to absorb her every input, and it saddened her to realize that he would be better served to dream of flying ikrans.  She wondered again, whether there was any way to distill fuel for the metal birds, but dismissed the thought.  Taifa' was standing in the door gunner position with Pxepxi attached to his thigh. Ka'alani admired her brazenness. So she stood up next to them both to look through the open doorway.  Soon all the people, Blue and otherwise were all 'surfing' their way towards the ZongstengAlor.  But eventually they could hear Tai's voice crackling over the intercom.  "Ladies and Gentlemen, I would ask you to please take your seats until the aircraft has safely landed. And I'd like to thank you all for flying Air Pandora!"
"You forgot to remind us to pull our seats forward and lock all our tray tables in their upright position,"  laughed Melvin.  Dianna was caught up in the silliness, and told him, "You say that like you have had years of experience!"  He replied, "You just don't know what I did on 'Rrta before I signed up for this gig!"  Pxepxi and Ateyo were laughing just because the gaiety was so contagious.
As the engines spooled down, Tai turned in her seat and addressed Melvin with a wry smile. "So were you a stewardess in a prior life?"
"That is Mister Stew to you Mate!"  replied Melvin.  They disembarked and were greeted by members of the Zongsteng Alor clan.  Eyktan Ikxeru told Taifa'  and Tai to get their Yumon meskow swisaw. Human bows and arrows.   There  was a hunt intended after the noontime meal. Soon the birds were covered with their camo nets and everyone was being directed to the common area where lunch was being served.  A yerik was being slow roasted on a spit. Tsahik Meykir stopped slathering it with her special sauce long enough to greet the mezìma'uyu  two newcomers.  "Oel ngat kame! Srung si oeru, rutxe." I SEE you, Help me please!  Meykir stuffed the sauce mop into Dianna's willing hand.  "MM MMM!  You all didn' tell me you was havin BARBECUE!  This is ALL RIGHT!  Oeru syaw Txianna."
"KxALTÌ TxIANNA!"  came greetings from those who were nearby.
Ayeveng, the children were playing a fast game of tag, catching each other by the tails and shouting, NGEYÄ KxETSE LU OERU  Your Tail Is MINE!  Knowing grins were exchanged as people remembered Tsahik Mekir's proclamation to Colonel Schroeder at the "initiation" ceremony just last night. Eyktan Ikxeru was about to tease her, though she brandished her wooden spoon and reminded him; "And who was up before the sun crooking up a batch of THE REMEDY?!?"
Ateyo filled in Dianna and Melvin of the festivities on the previous night.  Dianna remarked. "OOH you all know how to throw a good PAR TAY!"
Elsewhere, Ateyo and Kxetsaw, were drilling Taifa' on the prayer that is said upon killing a creature.
Oel ngati kameie ma tsmukan ulte ngaru seiyi irayo!
Ngari hu Eywa saleu tirea, tokx `i`awn slu Na´viyä hapxi!
I see you brother and thank you! Your spirit goes with Eywa, your body stays behind to become part of the people!
"I've got the first part, said Taifa'. "OEL NGATI KAMEIE MA TSMUKAN, I just need to memorize the part about the spirit going to Eywa and the Body serving the people."
"You've missed the important part, Cuz!  You are going to be working on this for THREE YEARS before you get this memorized!" Tai was adding just a little pressure to the situation.
"Kehe!"  Ateyo corrected Tai. "Him learning more fast.  I teach!" She brandished a wooden spoon that she had snagged from Meykir's kitchen. "NÌMUN!" AGAIN!
After the meal, metaronpongu two hunting parties were formed.  One group were hunting yerik, the other hunting fkxen, especially the delicious fruit that was used in the making of Kava.  Ateyo took Tai aside.  "Kxetsaw be showing you for making tskow  bow.  Him more strong for bend.  I making child bow le'aw, only. txan pupatokx. Very short body." she said apologetically.  Tai sensed her discomfort and gave her a tight squeeze.  "Ngati oeyä karyu oeru"  You are my teacher FOR MANY THINGS!  NOW HAVE FUN!" Tai commanded.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

187) "SYAK SYUK!   SYAK SYUK!" was the familiar call from the treetops.  It had been a long time since Ateyo had played with her treetop friends, the prolemurs.  She wasn't sure that they recognized her, but they weren't running away, either.  They swung from branch to branch with surprising ease.  Of course, they had an extra set of arms. Everything on Pandora seemed to have to an extra set of fore limbs, except the Na'vi.  They were smaller than even Ateyo.  She had fashioned a set of "wings" from two huge leaves and she herself was soaring from branch to branch.  Ateyo sought out a likely tree heavy with the purple-skinned fruits that were needed for the making of Kava.  She had no intention of carrying down the fruit.  She started picking a few luscious samples and carefully tossed them down to Pxepxi, who then tossed them down to Kofi, who tossed them down progressively to each child who had climbed the trees.  Dianna had chosen to stay on the ground and was helping Meykir and Meykir'ite wash and quarter the juicy fkxen and add it to one of three ceramic pots.  Things were progressing smoothly until an unripened fruit came sailing through the air, smacking Ateyo smartly on the back of her head.
"AU!" She shouted in alarm.  The unripened ones were as firm as an 'Rrta softball.
"Syak syuk! syak syuk!"  The creatures seemed to be laughing.
"Oel ngati takuk fa apka fkxen!"  I strike you with large fruit!  A rowdy food fight ensued, amongst the aysyasksyuk and Ateyo.  The ayeveng couldn't resist and joined in the fracas.  Soon the people below were being rained upon by fruit, unripened and overripened, whole or smashed.  When Ateyo estimated that her bombing raid had produced enough fruit, she turned tail and soared down to the lower branches.  The forest creatures shouted their glee in having routed the intruders, and everyone was laughing at the unexpected fruit picking expedition.  When Ateyo descended to the jungle floor, she was covered in a gooey mess, as were some of the ayevi.  They were still laughing as they all hit the ground.  Meykir'ite, ever prepared for messes, produced hot wet towels.
"Ma Ateyo! " chucked Dianna, "You be one funny tsmuk!  But look! Most of the fkxen is smashed!"
"Some will make mipa ayutral new trees Slä  but Gotta be smash for make Kava!"
"Gotta be wash for making Kava, is more like it!" was Dianna's reply.  The pongu,  party, began gathering the  'oma ta'leng fkxen,  purple skinned fruit.  They all pitched in to wash and sort the fruit and add it to the vats. Within each vat was a mesh bag made of finely woven  grasses, which had been choosen for their special flavors.  Ateyo displayed the spices that were added. "For make more taste good."  The bag was used to strain out piths and the skins much later in the process.  "Ta'leng for happy making."  Ateyo simply could not explain that the yeast present on the skins actuated the fermentation process.  "Serar txan ayfyeyntu alu akalin, for happy make."  using very ripe ones which are sweet.  The overripe ones had a high sugar content which were already  fermenting, so it was essential to add overripe fruit to the mix.  Water was added to the vats, which by "Rrta standards would hold ten gallons. And lastly, a large bowl of the last batch of Kava was added to the new Kava.  With a long wooden paddle, Ateyo was carefully mashing the fruit within the bag.  She started a song, singing the praises of the drink which causes happiness and carefree joy.  The song told of the history and the recipe, each person was encouraged to press the fruit.  The song lasted for half a day, people came and went, laughing and singing in anticipation of the next batch of Kava.  She asked Pxepxi and Kofi to gather vines and indicated their girth by matching her little finger to the children's thumbs.  She showed Dianna and some of the other Na'vi aytute  people  how to select the proper branches for carrying poles.  Only the hardest wood could support the heavy pots. She thanked the tree for donating its branches and sawed off six branches with her bone knife. "Keep these for next time.  Save tree and save arm!"  She demonstrated the lashing technique, explaining about the pattern, the number of turns, and coached everyone as they lashed the carrying poles to the other two pots.
Already Mekir and Meykir'ite were encouraging the ayeveng to bring them all the fruit.  Nothing would go to waste.  Some would be dried, some would be added to meat with spices and dried, some would be carmelized and stored in pots as sweeteners.  Ateyo produced three skins that would be used for covers.  "Kxener ta'leng  smoke skins  in wood of fruit tree for keep good taste Kava."  With the skins lashed to the tops and the poles attached firmly, the procession began.  Ateyo started the Kava marching song celebrating the end of the work and anticipating the joy of sharing Kava with mipa soaia hapxitu,  new family members.  The children skippingly led the way to the riverbank and the women traded positions after every verse, to share the burden, while lahea aytute, other women clapped and sang.  The path lead to a grotto behind a small water fall.  Many food items were kept here in the cool damp atmosphere.  Clay pots were lined up, each in a specific place, but mostly, the Kava was left here for three months  "to ripen."  There was enough room on the floor for two people to lay down.  Ateyo stirred each pot once more, recovered each pot and rinsed the paddle, ready for the next time it would be stirred.  It was a privalege among mated couples to spend time in the grotto to "Stir the Kava."  For this reason, the ayevi were cautioned never to play in or near the grotto.  They had their own grotto in which to play.  Tomorrow. "Trray ma ayevi." It is will soon be dark and it is time to see what the hunters have brought." When the pongu  party reached a clearing, Ateyo pointed out the position of the first moon on the horizon  above a particular rock outcropping  and indicated which piece of the landscape it would rise over when the  Kava would be ready.  Joyfully, the women and children trotted home along the glowing jungle path to the Kelutral.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

188)~ Taronpongu  The hunting party moved away from the noisiness of the Kava Fruit gathering pongu.  Taifa' was rehearsing the prayer over and over in his head as they carefully tracked a small herd of ayyerik.  The basic skills of hunting, were learned by Tai and her Cuz, on 'Rrta along side their uncles on the islands of Samoa.  They had honed their skills by hunting at the various military duty stations around that globe.  Tai  believed that she had the right to kill an animal, but not to make it suffer.  Rarely did she kill an animal with more than one shot.  One shot kills were responsible for filling the dinner pot and keeping her alive on the many battlefields of her experience.  The herd led the hunters  to a clearing near a watering spot.  This herd had not yet been thinned out.  The hunters, aytaronyu had many bucks to choose from.  Each taronyu pointed out his intended target.  It surprised Eyktan Ikxeru to hear Tai quietly murmuring her prayer as she carefully took aim.  Her target yerik heard her murmuring and flashed the colorful vanes on the side of his head.  She released the swisaw arrow, driving it through the creature's heart killing it instantly. Simultaneously,  ayswisaw  te lahea aytoronyu,  the arrows of the other hunters found their marks as well.  They watched as the rest of the herd scattered and each hunter went up to their respective yerik.
Nervously, Taifa' knelt by his yerik and recited the prayer perfectly and with due respect for the aimal's sacrifice. He gave himself a congratulatory nod and looked up to meet the eyes of Kxetsaw, Tai and Eyktan Ikxeru.  Their eyes conveyed congratulations,  Eyktan Ikxeru walked up to Taifa' and helped him to his feet.  "Ma Taifa', Nga lu alakxsi."  You are ready.  As they busied themselves gutting the ayyerik, Eyktan Ikxeru  said. "Ma Kxetsaw.  It seems that we need to be teaching someone to climb The Floating Mountains and catch  meikran!"  He cast his eyes sideways to see the gigantic smiles that spread across the faces of TaiTaeAo and Taifa'anae.
The two were immediately congratulated by the Pilots Wade, Daniels and Henderson.  Even Melvin, the Australian tech said, "Sekxel sì nitram, Mate!"
Ikxeru addressed the two Samoans, "Ma mesmukan, give those vanes of meyerik to Ma Ateyo, she will build a toy ikran for your mevenge."  It pleased Tai so much to know that they were so well accepted that their children were included as part of the extended soaia,  family.  The hunters found suitable poles for carrying the four yerik, carefully instructing the mipa metaronyu two new hunters  which trees to use and had them recite the prayer once again for each limb that was taken.   It was late in the afternoon before the taronpongu approached the edge of the camp singing a victorious hunting song praising Eywa for her provision and thanking the ayyerik for their lives.
They had field dressed their kills and presented them to the aytutan, the people.  Aytaronyu, those  who made the kills were presented with the choicest part, the eyeballs.  Tai and Taifa' swallowed their gifts whole, while the less initiated tried not to gag while watching them.  Although Wade, Daniels and Henderson were in the hunting party, they had no hunting skills to draw from.  But they each realized that they had eyeballs to look forward to.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

189)  "OOH mymymymymymy"  Dianna was surrupticiously watching a young Na'vi taronyu who was busy scraping and cleaning a yerik hide.  "You didn' tell me there were so many handsome men out here!"  Ateyo stopped scraping the hide that Tai had brought her, and looked over her shoulder.  Kxeyo was bending over his work, lunging forward in long even strokes with his skinning knife, his muscles glistening with sweat. Ateyo smiled and nodded at him.  He nodded back, and noticed that he had Dianna's attention, so he gave her a smile, as well.  "Ma Ateyo!  Did you see THAT? HE SMILED AT ME!"
"Well~ smile BACK at him!"
"I don't think I've stopped smiling since I laid eyes on him!" Now that Kxeyo realized that he had an audience, he kept sneaking glances and smiling at Dianna.  This flirtaciousness continued for a few minutes.  "Why don't you go say KxALTÌ to him? Him not have muntatu."   spouse
"Oh I couldn't do that!  I'm too shy!"  Ateyo glanced at the aytaronyu.  A similar conversation must have been occuring, because there were smiles and nods in Dianna's direction.  The young man was now avoiding eye contact, and shaking his head, but smiling none the less.
"Oel ngati srung si." I will help you.  With that Ateyo walked over to the young men.  She wasn't well versed in mating rituals, having recently been involved in her first and only date.  But she was direct and to the point, "Ma 'eylan, Txianna, would like to say Kxaltì to you!"
The young man blushed a nice shade of crimson purple.  His friends were quick to advise him and urge him.  He nodded and carefully dismembered the colorful vanes of the yerik hide and walked over to where Dianna sat, "Oe lu Kxeyo. Oel za'u fi'u stxeli ngaru."  I am Kxeyo. I bring this gift to you."  He held out the vanes like a Japanese fan. And she accepted the somewhat bloodied gift in her somewhat bloodied hands.  Self consciously, she ducked her head beneath the fan but peeked out and found her voice.
"Irayo Ma Kxeyo. Lu akalin. "  Thank you Kxeyo.  Is pretty.  Ateyo leaned over to her and said in a stage whisper, "Name!  You tell you name!"
"Oe lu Txianna. Kxaltxì'!  "
The young man was entirely smitten by her shyness, which he took as coyness and was momentarily at a loss for words.  He said something to her and smiled and walked back to his group, where he was greeted with whoops and hollers and slaps on the back.
"What did he say, Ma Ateyo?  What did he say?"
"Him say you asking me for help you make fan. Is special for get fi'u stxeli  this gift.  Him having mowan for you!"
Dianna couldn't help but to continue smiling and looked forward to being in Blue with such an attractive man.  "Ateyo does this mean we are engaged or something?  Am I married to him now?"  Ateyo was puzzling over the meaning of the words engaged and married.  Luckily, Tai overheard and came to the rescue.
"Naw, it only means that he likes you.  You haven't even had a date!"  The taronyu then beckoned to Tai and conversed with her.  Tai placed her hands upon his shoulders and spoke with him confidentially.  Then they walked back to Dianna and Ateyo.  "I've invited Ma Kxeyo to my mother's fire to share our yerik and he has invited us to share yerik at his mother's fire.  I've agreed to play matchmaker!"  By this point, everyone at the Zongsteng Alor Kelutral was aware of the budding courtship and murmured their approval.  Pxepxi, of course, stood on a log and crowed "Ma Txianna have mowan for Ma Kxeyo!"

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

190)~Kxeyo was shoved toward Dianna and Ateyo.  He smiled at his toes and glanced sidewise at the young woman, cleared his throat and addressed Ateyo,
"Ma Tsmuk!  Rutxe pxllte alu ngeyä 'eylan, Txianna,  Please tell your friend Dianna
fwa oeru nìprrte' livu fwa poel pivllte Kxaltxì sivi ma oeyä Sa'nok."
that I would be pleased if she would say Hello to my Mother.
Before Ateyo could finish translating, Dianna was on her feet saying "Srane, Nìprrte' sivi! Slä zene yur oeyä metsyokit."  Yes I would be pleased, but I must wash  my hands.  Meykir'ite, of course, came by with a handy wet wash cloth.  It was not surprising that most of the tribe followed mefo, the two to the campfire of Kxeyo's mother.
"Ngaru oeyä 'eylantsyìp alu Txianna!" To you I present my little friend Dianna.
"Smon nìprrte' MaTxianna!  Good to know you, Dianna  Oeru syaw Lìnga  Rìk. I am Floating Leaf.  Oeru teya si fwa Ma oeyä Kxeyoyä säsulìn nìsung ta'leng arusey, set!  It gives me joy that my Kxeyo's interests includes living skins, now.  Livu eana ta'leng, ye'rìn?  Will yours be Blue soon?
Ateyo was going to translate, but Dianna held up her hand and concentrated.
"Srane!" she said at last with a smile. "mì vol fo volsìng trr krr.  Eywa Irayo si!" Yes in einght to twelve days time, thanks be to Eywa.  Her words must have been close because she was met with happy responses.
Floating Leaf dismissed her son with a graceful flick of her hand.  He backed away reluctantly as his friends clapped him on his back saying SEYKxEL SÌ NÌTRAM! proud and happy, congratulations.
"Fipor syaw Pxakxo, oeyä txan'ewan 'even. This one is Pako, my youngest son."Kä, Ma Pakxo, nume  te oeyä  tsmukan tsulfä si ayta'leng."  Go, Pako, learn from your brother the mastery of skins.  Dianna watched the sixteen year old trot off towards the place where the hunters were tanning the skins.  The woman was talking and Ateyo translated. Pakxo is named after my late husband, Pxakxo Tsintzay.  He was killed in the Attack on the Well of Souls.  Kxeyo has been a good provider for our family."
Dianna wasn't sure whether his Mother was anticipating him leaving or not, but chose a wise answer.  "Ma Kxeyo lu meuiama tutan."  Kxeyo is an honorable man. They all turned to watch the young men at work.  Pxakxo was proudly displaying the bloody eyeball between his teeth.  At which point his older brother admonished him with a smack on the back of his head.  There were a few comical moments of aytaronyu juggling the eyeball that popped from his mouth.  Kxeyo gave an apologetic grimace towards his mother's campfire, hoping that the incident didn't scare off his Love Interest.  Pxakxo was disappointed to have lost his audience before she could see him catch the eyeball midair and swallow it.  Kxeyo had used his body to block the Show-Off from her line of sight.  He instructed his brother to scoop out the brains and mash them into a pot of boiling water.  This time, he screened him from her sight, wondering why she had reacted so squeemishly at the customary eating of eyeballs.  As he stole a glance at her, she was pressing her hand to her mouth and then to her throat, maintaining her sense of decorum.  He waved at her and she waved back, giggling like a schoolgirl.
"Tam ma oeyä Txianna, give this sauce a taste, tell me if it is too sweet." Ateyo translated for Floating Leaf. And Dianna asked if there was any spice that could add some heat.  After a quick conference, various packets of pepper flakes were produced, though Dianna would not have recognized them as such.  The spices were added to the simmering mix.  Carefully Kxeyo's mother tasted the simmering sauce from a wooden spoon and gave a nod of approval.  Sauce mops were produced and the women took turns slathering the roasting yerik with gooey sauce which carmelized quickly on the meat.  Aroma's from the cooking fires filled the air beneath the huge kelutral.  People were smiling, even the children came in from their play. Meykir'ite produced steaming hot wash towels. Soon the people were lined up with their leaf platters in hand. People wandered from camp to camp tasting this roast and that roast.  Falling Leaf was pleased to see that the addition of pepper flakes to her sauce had made it a fast favorite with the adults.  Ateyo had been too busy making Kava to hunt for teylu but Meykir had prepared a pot of mushrooms, which Ateyo found delightful. SpxamSpxam   SpxamSpxam  Spxam Spamx Spxam she sang to herself in silly singsong.   Melvin was surprised to overhear the famous Spam routine by the late great Monty Python and His Flying Circus.  But didn't even dare explain it.  Tai and Taifa' and Ka'alani were invited to eat with each of the three families; Meykir sì Ikxeru. Mey'kirite sì Kxetsaw, ulte Kxeyo sì Lìnga Rìk. Eyktan Ikxeru walked over to his cousin's campfire and congratulated her on her newest family member.
"Don't rush the boy, he hasn't dated anyone since his father died." she replied.
"That was eight years ago, Cousin!"
She laughed at herself for the ridiculous statement.  "Kehe.  Oel omum, No I understand, but this is the FIRST person he has dated. Time will tell.  Krr alu peng.
"It will be interesting to see her Uniltìrantokx," he wondered.
"Oel srefereiey nìprrte'! "  I am looking forward to it, she replied.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

191)~Have you washed your faces? Yolur ayngä aykeya?  Ayeveng The children were lounging in "their" loft after eating.  They had gathered a few Peng Hrrap TELL DANGER plants that glowed when anyone was near.  They were playing make-believe with leaves as ayikran and aySyakSyuk.   Ateyo knew she would have to create meikrantsyip uvan u',  two litttle ikrans two playthings, and show Dianna how to make a fan.  Ateyo appointed three to help with chores.  "Pxevi srung a Ma Mekir'ite. Kä wash the cooking pots." Don't forget to tell her how much you enjoyed the syuve  food, srak?"  Pxefo climbed down with minimal protest and promised to return to their role playing game.  But eventually, all the ayevi climbed down to pitch in.
Meykir had already added the soapy flower buds to the pots.  Each cooking pot was brought over, and scrubbed with the woody flower bud stem. It was also fun to make the bubbles.  Ateyo helped with the stacking and drying. Water was sent down the sluice to the edge of the camp far from food storage and sleeping areas. "I think we will soon need more water.  Perhaps, we should all go for a swim tomorrow and bring back water."  Suggested Tsahik Meykir.  As Tsahik she could easily defer these menial tasks or assign them to others, but it was her motto:
Tìran rofa sute txo nga rangal tsnì tsayfot iveyk. Walk beside people if you wish to lead them.*
The chores were quickly finished and children returned to their games.  The atmosphere was less intense than after the initiation ceremonies.  Conversation was relaxed.  There was some singing, and there was some laughter.  The story of the food fight was related and Taifa' was praised for learning the prayer. Txianna was nestled in Kxeyo's blue arms. Ateyo was planning a craft making session after tomorrow's swimming pongu. party   It was suggested that Ateyo, the preparer of Kava, and her muntxatu, Tai take the first evening watch to Stir the Kava. Tai slung her bow across her shoulder and took Ateyo by the hand. Then  ensued a night time march down to the grotto, illuminated by the pink glow of Peng Hrrap, and the blue syaratan bioluminesce of the mossy forest floor.  A staff was planted at the edge of the path, a sort  of Do Not Disturb sign, to be retrieved in the morning by the happy couple.  "Oh," remarked Tai,  We get the Honey Moon Suite!"  Tai gave Pxepxi a little kiss and reminded her to obey the ayfeyntu, the grown-ups  but especially Auntie Ka'alani and Uncle Taifa'.  Before they ducked under the waterfall curtain, Tsahik Meykir caught TaiTaeAo by the arm and looked her directly in the eye.  "Tse, Ma Tai!  Don't forget also to Stir the Kava."
*Irayo, Ma Seze Mune!

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

192)~The nice thing about the grotto was the thick carpet of moss that they lay on.  Tai was stretched out on her belly and Ateyo was massaging her back. Her fingers seemed to be drawn to the knotted muscles.  Patiently, she coaxed each of them to relax and flatten out. Intuitively, she knew how to soothe each muscle group so that it released the next muscle group.  Poel tering lawr, she sang wordlessly, a soothing melody, sad and sweet.  The same melody, in fact, as that of her lullaby. Tai murmured into the moss carpet, "AAAAh Ma Ateyo lu tsulfätu te prrrrrte."  Aaaah Ateyo is the expert in pleasure.  It occured to her that the deepest joy they shared together didn't even involve sexuality. " I feel like a pot of spaghetti without the pot."
"What is spa get ti? my Tai? "   Tai did not feel obligated to explain, so she sat up and demonstrated the loose pliability of her arms neck and back.
"Lìng? lìng mì pay?"  Float, float in water?
"Srane!  Let's go skinny dipping!"  This phrase puzzled Ateyo.  Not Fat? Is skinny?
"Ta'lengtsyìp!" but LITTLE SKIN hardly meant skinny.  "Yemfpay lukpen.  Slele lukpen."  Immerse without clothes, swim without clothes.
"Kosmana säfpìl!"  Wonderful Idea!  Hand in hand they stepped from behind the curtain of water and slipped into the clear pool which was softly illuminated in the syuratan bioluminsence of the rain forest. Ateyo positioned herself on a rock, immersed to her shoulders and held her muntxate's head as she floated on her back.  Meswin were floating in the water, gently being swirled with the current.  Their braids entwined and joined together. the jolt of tsaheylu made them each catch their breath.  Their pulse was synchronized as one, their breath was synchronized as one. Their kiss was like electricity and caused shivers of joy to envelope their hearts.  Tai and Ateyo drank each other in through their eyes.  "I can hadly believe that I have found you. Eywa has made us just for each other, even though we were separated by time and space."  Ateyo's mind played the imagery of Sol. 'Rrta's Tsawke, sun, a liitle pinprick of blazing light in the starscape of Eywa's heaven's.  She retracted the image with dizzying speed, causing Tai to gasp.  "And this is the way for how it ought to should be!"murmured Ateyo, with a smile that was a kiss.
Reluctantly Tai withdrew her energy.  She knew that at twenty-two hundred hours she would become inert, and she didn't want to find out whether her Avatar would continue to float.  Crawling out of the water reestablished the gravitational pull of Pandora and she belly crawled across the spongy moss back into the grotto.  Her timing was impeccable. No sooner did she flop onto her back than she slid into unconsciousness, leaving Ateyo to guard her un moving form. Ateyo sighed, resigning herself to this reality yet cherishing the sweet moments she had shared.  For a long while she sat and stroked Tai's hair, her strong browline her high cheekbones.  She got up and stirred the Kava, remembering how Tai had masked her regret at seeing her drunk.  Tai  had wanted to share some meaningful moments before she had to link out.  It had something to do with pumpkins.  Now she regretted the loss of that opportunity and vowed never to let the Kava steal those moments again.  Quietly she lay down next to her precious muntxatu, Eywa's  personal stxeli, gift to her.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

193)~ Tai experienced a wormhole sort of transition, if one could imagine folding space and being in a new dimension.  Tweety was there to assist her  getting out of the link chamber.  "Here's your smoking jacket, Tai. Prrkxentrrkrr!"  daytime smoking pleasure! What did you do all day?"
"I went hunting and shot me a yerik. Ateyo and some of the others went climbing and picked fruit for the next batch of Kava. Then I understand they had a food fight with rotten fruit. PrrFxenTrrKrr!"  daytime fruit pleasure
"I DREAMED of climbing trees with Ateyo!  This is so NOT FAIR! How do we get permanent blue bodies?  This trading off has its limitations! Seriously!"
Tai was consilliatory. "Don't be sore.  I'm sure you will get your turn.  If it is any consolation Txianna said that she didn't climb the trees at all. Melvin pitched in.  "I hear that Ateyo gives Falling Lessons."
"What did  Melvin do? Hunt or food fight?" asked Tobi.
"Mostly he played water boy and carrier of dead yeriks on a stick.  I'm not sure he's cut out for this hunter stuff.  Tai and Taifa' ate EYEBALLS." Daniels offered.  This information was met with the proper amount of gags and incredulous eyebrows, which Tai and Taifa' dismissed with a shrug.
"I finally memorized the Hunter's Prayer."said Taifa'. " Ateyo has had me praying over every teylu  GRUB  that I have found.  But now Tai and I are eligible to catch our own ikrans.  We get to practice our climbing skills tomorrow."
Janet Henderson placed her arm around Dianna's shoulder and said in a sing song voice, "Guess who has a BOY FRIEND?!?"
Dianna was blushing three shades of red.  "It's true!  His name is Kxeyo and he gave me a fan! Or something that can be used as a fan,  Ateyo said she will show me how to make one."
Tweety was entirely amazed. "Oh! MY! GOD! ohmyEywa! How did this come about?!"
Dianna was almost apologtic. "I was minding my own business admiring this hunter who was working on a hide. And before I knew it, Ateyo was introducing me to him and to his mother!"
Tweety was laughing.  "Oh Ateyo has a match making service, too!?  I'm just happy knowing that I'm her sister! For now." she added. "So, is this fellow aware that you are going to be comatose for the next few hours?"
"Luckily, he knows about Tai and Ateyo, so I am not the first Uniltìrantokx that he has met!"
"So tell me, Txianna." sai Tweety in mock seriousness. "Is your Avatar safe?"
"Oh YES! Honey!  but more I will not say! Keep in mind that we are in a community area."
"Um yes. Definitely SAFE!" joked Tweety.

194)~ "TING POM * TING POM * TING POM"  Tai awakened Ateyo with a series of little kisses. She always felt that her place was anchored in the universe when she came out of link next to her Ateyo.  The joy and wonderment filled her soul as the little Na'vi woman awakened by her side.  "Rewon lefpom ma kalina Tai!"  Good Morning Sweet Tai!  was the drowsy response.  Between carresses and kisses, they shared their plans for the day.  Tai and Taifa' and Melvin would join the hunters learning to climb the Floating mountains.  Ateyo would help the village bring water from the stream.  The shimmering curtain of water admitted the morning light dimly.  Reluctantly, they got to their feet and Ateyo stirred the Kava one more time.  The strong sweet smell reminded her of her foolishness in front of Tai and her adopted daughter Pxepxi.  She remembered the long helicopter ride with her aching head, and again she made a silent vow not to alllow the strong drink to make a mockery of her.
Mefo, the two came out blinking into the sunlight. In the deepest part of the pool, the colors still shimmered magically.  They helped each other climb the embankment along the path that lead to the Zongsteng Alor olo'.  Forever, the memory of their sweet honeymoon would truly define the name of this clan: SafePlace Beautiful.  With a sigh, Ateyo and Tai grabbed up the "do not disturb" staff and returned to find the clan beginning their first meal of the day.
"REWON LEFPOM MA TAI sì MA ATEYO!"  Pxepxi was the first one to spot them approaching the kelutral. She ran to meet them and greeted them with a flying tackle.  Others were greeting them with laughter.  Meykir'ite was teaching Ka'alani and Txianna to pound and sing the seed butter song. Others stopped singing and clapping the rhythm long enough to greet the latecomers.  Even the three pilots and Melvin were all ready for the day.  "We're waiting on you, Cuz!" said Taifa' to Tai. Dianna had joined in the pounding, just as the smaller Na'vi children had, so that two people were each lifting the heavy mortar and pounding the seeds in the deep wooden pestles.
"I LOVE this stuff!" said Taifa' as he scooped some into an edible bowl made of an open flower bud.  "Try this, Melvin!  It tastes like sesame seed paste!"  In a ceramic kettle, Meykir was ladling out the rich tea that was similar to coffee.  Lìnga Rìk had made a sauce with the leftover yerik, and there simply weren't enough crispy teylu to go around. It was decided that while the hunters were training and climbing, the rest of the village would help with bringing water from the stream.  Afterwards, and before the evening meal, it was hoped that they could all meet under the nearby Tree of Voices to explore the interconnectedness of the mipa hapxitu new members to the rest of the clan.

195)~On their walk to the Floating Mountains  Ayram aLusìng  Ketxtsaw started singing the Hunter's Song to the Hunted Ones.  He sang it all the way through and then taught the mipa aytaronyu, The new hunters, line by line *

When they got to the base of the amazing floating mountains, Kxetsaw demonstrated the mag-lev effect by climbing upon a small chunk that was "floating". He could not describe WHY the rocks seemed to float.  Because they appeared to be quite heavy.  He found a small platform to stand upon that was tethered to the ground by vines and roots. It was only a meter in circumference, so he was able to stand and balance upon it rather precariously.  Eyktan Ikxeru also climbed on a little chunk which was also tethered by roots and vines to the surface.  They were only levitated knee high to a Na'vi.  It was like standing on a surf board in still water.   Of course, they began to jostle each other and soon Ikxeru was victorious.  Taifa' and Tai were harder to dislodge, from their many years of keeping their balance on surf boards.  Kxeyo was among the hunters, but he was easily knocked over.  The others helped him to his feet and explained that he was Far Too distracted lately to keep his balance.
The scenery was breath-taking as higher and higher they climbed.  It soon became apparent to Melvin, that his vertigo woud make this challenge all but impossible for him. The first time he reeled on the brink of a dizzying height, Kxeyo caught him by the arm.  The second time, he actually fell backwards, where he remained seated, clinging with both hands to the plants and rocks. Eyktan Ikxeru came and crouched beside him.  "Ma tsmuktsyìp Melvin!  Oel kame ngeyä txe'lan txur sì sekxel, slä fwa meuia ftxey fitsenge 'ì'awn."  Kxetsaw doubled-back and translated for the distraught young man.  "Him saying SAN: Little Brother! I SEE your strong heart, but there is honor to choose stay in this place.SIK"  He added some words of his own.  Not all tutan, men wish to be taronyu. Some go too high up and 'efu spxìn ngäng, feel sick stomach.  No shame. Stay here. Wait. Promise. Not go up Not go down. Ngat 'ì'awn fitseng. You stay here. Kxawm kxrrpe ngä uniltìrantokx lu.Slä ke set. Perhaps when you are DreamWalkerBody, but not now."
All the hunters had doubled back by now and were regarding Melvin with his death grip on the grass.  Tai came and crouched beside him and put her hand on his shoulder.  "Ma Tsmuk!  I can tell you you that they are right.  You may find it easier to deal with heights in your new body.  I have experienced both bodies.  There is no shame in deciding later, or not at all!  BUT you may also find that your Avatar does NOT have the same semi-circular canals that your ears seem to have.  You might find a different calling for yourself, if being a hunter doesn't suit you. But it will be a choice, not because of bad balance!"
Melvin admitted to Tai his vertigo and his inablity to remain balanced and admitted his reluctance to appear less worthy than the others. Melvin was relieved to know that he had an honorable option, and could avoid the prospect of eating eyeballs.  He agreed to remain seated.  Taifa' praised him for admitting his limitations and assured him that there was no shame in choosing out of being a hunter. "Stay here and think of other ways you could help the People."
Kxetsaw assured Ikxeru that Tai and Taifa' were relaying good information to the young man and were not shaming him. Ikxeru looked at his mipa mesmuk with relief and admiration.  "Nefä Ko" he shouted. Let's go upwards!

196)~"Ooh this looks like a kalabash gourd," said Dianna as she examined the empty gourd that was handed to her.  "All it needs is some beads around it to make a happy noise!"  There were some incised designs around it's circumference that looked as though they had be burned into place with some sort of tool. "My Uncle Lono used to make these on the Island back in the day!"  commented Ka'alani. She sighed whistfully and got lost in some far away thought.  Ateyo was imagining the instruments she could build and wondered at all the projects piling up.  When would she find time to create the ay'are beaded ponchos  of the universe for each of the tsahik that she knew?  When would she make the planetary system of ayrum ball gourds for Neytiri? or the fan for Dianna? or the ayikrantsyip uvan 'u little ikran plaything  for each evi?  She shook her head and tried to focus on the task at hand. Already, the other were singing the water carrying song.
This was a common task and everyone knew their part.  Some carried empty buckets and pails made of gourds.  Others assembled a series of bamboo lengths, which Dianna immediately understood to be the sluices for water.  She watched and helped as the lengths were assembled backwards from the water barrels, which were of monolithic bamboo segments.  She noticed that some sements of the pipeline were permanently affixed to trees as others were joined to them with coupler segments.  She was reminded of the PVC plumbing pipes that were commonly used on 'Rrta. Like all kids, the ayevi were taking turns calling and singing through the long bamboo tubing.
The path beneath them was worn clearly, through heavy usage.  Eventually, the peyapongu the water party made their way to the stream, or rather to a large utral whose branches nearly spanned the stream. Vines were attached to the handles of the empty gourds.  These vines were braided into a larger vine and lowered over the wide sturdy branch.
Teams formed to take turns hauling the full water buckets, which were then emptied into the sluice for its journey toward the water barrels beneath the kelutral.  Kofi and Pxepxi enjoyed this part.  The ayeveng made a game of diving off the branch, holding the end of the big vine and using their weight to bring up the water buckets.  The big vine was constantly inspected and strengthened.  Dianna was reminded of a water wheel from ancient 'Rrta, and wondered if she should suggest such a thing to the Na'vi. She also wondered if this would violate the "Prime Directive", such as was represented from the ancient 'Rrta TV show Star Trek. And laughed to herself at the memory.
She could her the calls coming from the other end of the pipeline.  She tried to understand the words of the song.  They were counting or measuring the water and relaying that message from the kelutral.  The song wasn't necessarily melodic, but the repetition and rhythm created a catchy tune,  Everyone was singing the basic line, which was punctuated with a call that was repeated along the pipeline.  She could recognize the words for VÄNg  thirsty   PEY water  NÄK, to drink  and she could hear the word REY which means life and EYWA, which needed no translation.  She knew that Ateyo would be quizzing her later!  The cadence of the song had changed and everyone was singing in unison and lined up on the branch.  The verse was sung twice and she actually was singing along with the third repetition, but to her surprise, the song ended abruptly and they all shouted:
'AW, MENE, PxEY, SPÄ!
One Two Three Jump!
She didn't realize that she had screamed all the way down.  She came up laughing and sputtering but almost shouted when she felt arms slide around her waist.  Kxeyo and the aytaronyu had arrived and slipped into the water when they heard the song ending. They  crowed in delight to have surprised the peya pongu, water party. But Dianna couldn't have been more delighted.

197)~The ayfyentu, adults relaxed in the water while the ayeveng, children romped in the water.  The hunters were telling of their expedition and the others described their water collecting task.  The rainy season didn't require such elaborate techniques.  Ateyo lamented the many repairs needed on the heavy braided vine.  Dianna described the waterwheels she had seen on 'Rrta, a big circle made of branches and buckets, which the current turned.  The people grew excited at the new concept and were offering suggestions for the mechanism. Kxeyo offered to make a small water wheel to try it out. It was exciting for Tai to identify the engineering minds in the group.  She noted Melvin's enthusiam and saw that he would be a boone in this respect.  Ateyo was relieved to hear that others would be involved with this project.  She was still wondering how to find time to work on her other crafts.  Kxawm, perhaps Ma Melvin could be taught to make Tskow Swisaw  bow and arrows and hunting clothing.  That would free up her time for making ioi, ornaments.
The conversation turned to the climbing expedition.  It was revealed that Melvin did not climb, and found it difficult to keep his balance. "I tried just sitting on a little chunk of tskxe a lìng rock which floats, just for practice, but I got dizzy and fell off!  I'm glad that I didn't try to climb any higher."  But he offered his services to the Na'vi in building the water wheel together with Kxeyo.  This suggestion was met agreeably, and Ateyo began wondering if Melvin could eventually become her apprentice.  The aytaronyu described their success at scaling the floating mountains.  The hunters had each made their bolas and had practiced using them to capture ayyerik and ayfa'li. The later which they had released, knowing they would be hunting yerik for meat after the trip to the Tree of Voices, later that day. Kxeyo revealed that he had trained with Ateyo since childhood and complimented Ateyo on her training techniques. "Ma Tai has your same style of release."
"Pelun ke lu taronyu, Ma Ateyo." Asked Dianna. Why aren't you a hunter?  Ateyo bristled a bit defensively.  "I am taronyu, but not on ikran.  Pupa tokx, too small for catch ikran."  She knew it was now inevitable, the many tales of her three attempts to tame a wild ikran, and the number of times she clung to an ikran neck only to be beaten off against a rock.  The stories caused a lot of merriment at her expense, but she didn't mind too much. Ateyo caught Tai's eye, who was ready to defend her yawnetu!  Ateyo laughed and assured her, "Tam, Tam, Ma Tai! Not all Na'vi can do the same things well.  I am tsulfätu at many things." She knew she was valued as tsufätu. expert craftsman.  And she knew that Melvin seemed dejected not to be able to consider being taronyu.  "Kwawm, Ma Melvin can help me make tskow swisaw  bow and arrow, sÌ masat, breastplate, sÌ  pawnpum, armband..." Melvin's enthusiastic grin and nod confirmed his apprenticeship. She was now Karyu Ateyo and he was Numeyu Melvin. teacher and student.
Suddenly, Ateyo's life seemed more simplified.  She was looking forward to sharing the workload with someone else.  But now she needed to schedule in training time for ngeyä numeyu, her student!  Tai solved this situation by asking to "borrow" Melvin long enough to get their water wheel built.  "Hey Cuz," complained Taifa'.  "Don't get them too advanced, we don't want to make them like us!"  Taifa remained in the water while the others were sunning themselves on a large rock.
"Well, we ARE like them and they ARE like us.  Only now we are more connected to The Balance because now we can 'plug-in' with our tswin.  Look around!  We have glazed pottery.  That means we have knowlege of controlled hot fire and maybe glass and maybe metal."
Ateyo translated and a lively conversation ensued in both languages.  Ektan Ikxeru stood up.  "Ma oeyä aysmukan sì aysmuke.  We cannot avoid contact between our two cultures.  Do we not fly in the belly of a lefngapa? metal ikran? Have we not seen how the tutetsyìp Little People have helped us defeat the kawnga sawtute bad skypeople  with their creations and weapons?  There will be a time when  lefngapa ayikran have no use mì fitsenge, in this place,  .  We wish always to keep The Balance. Uniltìrantokx and Na'vi alike must agree on this.  Ayuniltìrantokx have taught us that THINGS are not evil.  Has not ayoengä Moat, our Moat, seen the expanse of Eywa's Creation from the Tanhisip? Starship  We must ask ourselves always whether these new things we learn will disrupt the Balance or keep it."  Eyktan Ikxeru nodded at Tai, who was the other Eyktan present.
"The words that are spoken by Ma Oeyä Eyktan Ikxeru are true and we ALL need to continuously seek balance.  I would ask Ma Tsahik Meykir her advice."
The Tsahik waved a pesky fly from her face with a large leaf.  "Ma Tai, you are, in a way, related strongly to Ma Oeyä Ikxeru.  Therefore I respect your words and ideas.  And of course, you have revealed your wisdom in asking my advice," she paused and smiled at her own compliment, "and this is what I say: When we are finished here, we will all go to the Tree of Voices.  We can seek guidance from Eywa.  We have worked  together well as a clan today, But for now, I suggest we relax and PLAY as a clan,  before we go."

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

198)~Taifa' was floating in the water on his back, jetting out spouts of water from his mouth. Tsä! Tsä! The ayevi would shout. Squirt! Squirt!  They found this delightful for a while and then suggested an Ikran Wem, fight, and started climbing on the shoulders of the adults.  This was similar to the struggles on floating rocks earlier in the day, but the children were the strugglers.  The aytaronyu were struggling too, to keep their footing on the slippery rocks against the current.  Even Melvin joined in with Meykir's adopted daughter, Tsapra splashing and distracting all the participants. Txianna had her legs wrapped around Kxeyo's broad shoulders, and was wrestling with Ateyo upon Tai's shoulders. Taifa' charged in with Ka'alani on his shoulders, but her tall Na'vi body was a special challenge on the slippery rocks. "OHNO!" Pxepxi wailed in mock horror.  "Ma Taifa' has lost his Balance!"  Which suited her fine because she climbed onto Ka'alani's shoulders while Kofi climbed on Taifa's. There were many ayIkran to choose from.  The pilot Bruce Wade became the mount for Kamlau, who had been adopted by Ikxeru. The skirmish lasted until they were all laughing and gasping for breath. Climbing onto the gigantic slab of rock, they all took the time to dry their bodies in the sun. At an unspoken moment everyone got to their feet and took the path back to the kelutral, gathering their bamboo plumbing on the way. Ateyo took Kxeyo aside and suggested that he take Txianna to stir the Kava.  But reminded them that it was important that they join everyone at the Tree of Voices later, and assured them they could return in the evening,  if they were so inclined.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

 199)  They all ate fruit and dried yerik on the way to the Tree of Voices, knowing that the meal would come afterwards. Everyone sat patiently beneath the tendrils of the Tree of Voices and began TÌNG LAWR singing wordlessly, a song of praise to Eywa as they waited for Txianna and Kxeyo to arrive. They had literally stirred the Kava and came dashing back, satisfied to know that they would merely be deferring their Stirring until later!  They each picked their places and sat near the tendrils of the tree. Txianna was next to Kxeyo and his family.  She yearned for the moment she would have her tswin and be able to experience this wonderous interconnectedness to Eywa, to the People and to  the environment. She smiled at him but he was lost in the reverential awe of the experience.  Tsahik Meykir's adopted daughter, Tsapra had chosen to remain alongside Melvin.  She was at the Age of Maturity, though he was unaware of that fact.  He only knew that she was attracted to him, for some unexplained reason.  That fact alone caused him concern, because the feeling was mutual.  As he felt his stomach do a flip-flop he heard Tsahik Meykir speaking:
"We are a people made of two cultures, both Uniltìrantokx and Na'vi. Ulte ayuniltìrantokx have many cultures from 'Rrta that they draw from.  There are new couples and new aysoaia in our clan,  Also, many questions have arisen today, on what" she paused and searched for the word" 'tek no logies' we can share together. technologies  But do not be troubled in your hearts:"
Kxamtsengro ngeyä tokxä   At the center of your being
Ngaru livu tì'eyng;   you have the answer;
Ngal omum tsattutet a nga livu   you know who you are
Ulte ngal omum tsat a nga nivew.   and you know what you want~~~
*(Txanslusam AyLi'u ta SezeMune~ wise words from Seze Mune)
"Come to a place in your mind, your heart, and your soul. Eywa is there waiting to guide you and direct you in which way you may best serve the People."
The collective energy of all who were present was soothing rather than exhilarating.  There was calmness and a security.  Kxeyo KNEW that Eywa had chosen his perfect mate.  They both knew that an Uniltìrantokx would soon make it possible to share a kiss. Melvin was unsettled by the attraction of Tsapra towards him.  He knew that he could speak frankly with Tsahik Meykir and Eyktan Ikxeru concerning the matter.  Ateyo was assured that her students would have nimble fingers and a desire to craft fine items for the People to use.  Tai knew that she needed to transport the link chambers from the Hidden Base Complex and set it close to the kelutral, much the same way that the Omatikaya had theirs set up.  It was devine coincidence that everyone experienced calmness washing over them like waves upon the shore.  It was apparent that the entire clan would soon be sharing a visit with the Eastern Sea Clan.  It seemed that there were more relations to explore from that Olo'.
When the session ended, it seemed that everyone was experiencing the sun dissolving into the ocean.  A collective sigh was felt/experienced. Everyone proceeded homeward through the glimmering jungle, nìmwey, relaxed and happy.
