21~ "Taifa'ana'e! You stayed here?"
" It was either here or the chopper. I wasn't about to let them walk me to our hidden base. So I slept with the hunters!"
There he sat, beaming, dressed in his breathing mask and a loincloth. "I woke up this morning and heard women pounding taro, or whatever it is.  I think I could like it here!"
"I thought of you when I realized what I was hearing. I am glad you feel comfortable here."
The two Samoans embraced, while the ayeveng cheered and clapped. Taifa'ana'e gave Ateyo a quick hug, as well. And a knowing smile, which only served to puzzle her. But soon they were being taught to clap along with the pounding song.  They were each handed a bowl of seed butter and few skewers of roasted grubs. "Tastes like shrimp Taifa', try some!" They had each eaten worse things during Escape and Evasion Training. He was thinking the same thing. "At least these are roasted!" He quickly flipped his mask and engorged an entire skewer. " I wish we didn't have to wear these stupid masks. Which reminds me; we need to get fresh canisters for our exo-packs.  These are dangerously low."
"Unfortunately true. Let's sky up after we eat. They will be expecting us at the base soon."

22~ "You go now?" Ateyo had been translator for Tai on a previous excursion. She had been lapse in letting Tsahik Meykir do most of the translating between herself and Tai. But she actually could understand and speak many words in 'Inglìsì.
"Srane. Soon. But I need my boots. Hawnven. Rutxe." She turned to Taifa'ana'e.  "Are you going dressed like that?" She grinned at him, as he sighed deeply and got to his feet.
"I'll meet you here in ten."  He knew he needed less than three minutes to get dressed, but he was making allowances for Tai and her new found Love.
 Ateyo and Tai climbed back to the communal sleeping area and reclaimed her boots.
"Heyn, sit, Ma Ateyo."  She put on her boots, and Ateyo pulled up the zipper. They looked at each other and sighed.
"Niprrte, Ma Ateyo. I really enjoyed being here with you."
"You coming soon here?"
"Srane. I want to come back."  Oe new fitsenge za'u.  Those words made a smile in Ateyo's heart.
"Exo-pak?" Ateyo didn't know what an eyk tso pak really meant eyk means leader, tsopì means lung, pak means disparagement.  She dismissed the idea.  Tai needed the disparaging lung so that she could return.  That was satisfying. And so was the deep embrace.
"I coming with you  also?" Ateyo was hoping to remain close.
"Hidden place, Ateyo. Not this time. But I want to see you again soon."

23~ A large entourage gathered in front of the kelutral. Nearly everyone in the village wanted to accompany the sawtute to their Sampson.  The clearing was only 50 meters from Home Tree. All joined in removing the branches and camoflage net.  As they worked side by side, it was clear that Taifa'ana'e had made many alliances. He grinned at Tai. "I've got a lot of interesting intel for you, Major. The Omatikaya have regrouped and have started a new Home Tree. Jake Sully is still their Eytukan. Neytiri is still there and Moat.  But there is more!  There is a new home tree just for sawtute, within walking distance of the Omaticaya. And they don't use the exo equipment, just the mask.  The fellas were telling me about a plant that emits oxygen or something.  They put a twig in their mask and planted these little trees inside and all around their quarters."
 "NO LIE!" exclaimed Tai as she shoved the heavy net into it's storage bin. "We've GOT to check this out!  Are they close?"
 "No, not in the general vicinity, or they would have been present at the fiafia last night.  Two days journey on an ikran? How that translates into miles or kliks, I have no idea."
 "Excellent! Good work"
 " Yeah, I knew you were busy doing personal liaison work, so I took the initiative."
He shot her a friendly smirk, which she chose to ignore. Instead she turned to the Eyktan Ikxeru and Tsahik Meykir. "Irayo, Ma Eylanya.  We thank you for your hospitality and intend to return again soon."
 Placing his hands on each of their shoulders, Ikxeru said to them, "We are pleased to make friends with good skypeople." As Tsahik Meykiri translated his words into Inglìsì, hope filled the hearts of the Na'vi and the Sawtute. Cheering ensued and farewells were shouted from the Na'vi.
"Eywa ngahu," replied both the humans as the climbed into the chopper. The Na'vi retreated to a safe distance as Tai spooled up the engines.  Once she was in low hover, she gazed upon Ateyo and gave her the gesture, "Oel ngati kameie"

24~ It took Tai twenty minutes of flying time to return to the secret rebel base.  She flew nap of "earth", inches away from the ground, under the canopy of the forest and within areas of high flux.
The base was situated beneath a large outcropping of rock, and deep within a cave.  It was hidden from radar by the flux vortex and hidden from view by the tangle of vegetation.   Carefully and skillfully, Tai manuevered the ship into position, a low hover leaving no marks in the thick grass, and disappeared effortlessly under the cover of the low outcropping.  As she sat her bird near the other five choppers, Janet Henderson came bounding out of the ready room.
 "Geez, Tai. We were ready to send out a search party. Did you get lost?"
Taifa'ana'e pitched in; "No, no! We made contact again with the Z clan and were invited to spend the night. We've got some good intel to share."
"Good, so do we!" said Janet.
"Excellent," Tai exclaimed.  "I want all pilots to meet in the ready room for a skull session on the quarter deck in ten minutes."  Janet nodded in affirmation. "Aye Skipper!" and trotted off to gather the others.

25~Ateyo had a hard time concentrating on simple tasks. The children kept her occupied.
"Find us some more seeds. Find us some pamptseowll, (music plants) so we can all Fwifwi (whistle)when we run". (They loved her whistling descent the previous night.)
" Catch another lorelyu for a cape! Help us harvest more seeds from the  pxorna'lor" (who didn't like the exploding popcorn-like morsels?) She even let them drag her to the mìnyll plant, to see who could out slap the leaves.  Her reflexes were so bad today, that she lost every bout.  She allowed the children to exhaust her.  She saw the Tsahik's daughter, moving among the Evi, whispering to them and getting nods of agreement.  Ateyo was grateful for her help, today. In the evening, she ate near Ikxeru and Meykir and their soaia, as was her habit.
"We kept Ma Ateyotsyìp from being sad today!" announced Meykir'ite.
Meykir admonished her daughter for using the term Little Ateyo for fear of disrespecting her or hurting her feelings.  "Ateyo is child size, but not a child.  She is old enough to be my Mother!" This was the highest of compliments.
"Don't scold the child, Ma Meykir.  'Ite has been sa'noktsyip for me all day."  It was now Meykir'ite's turn to blush. She liked being Little Mother for Ateyo.
"It seems that our Ateyo is making a deep friendship with the Tsatute Tai. This could be a good thing or this could be a hard thing for you to endure." said Eyktan Ikxeru around his skewer of roasted grubs.
"We just don't want to see our Ateyo with a broken heart." (It was easy to see that Meykir's daughter would make a fine tsahik some day.) Ateyo was grateful for the love and support of her olo'eyktan and her adoptive soaia.

26~   Tai marched into the day room/impromptu briefing room with Taifa'ana'e and Janet.  The room was filled with the good-natured ribbing and chatter that preceeds any important meeting. As she walked through the doorway, she she announced "AT EASE" almost as soon as as Taifa'anae shouted,   "'Atten-HUT"
"You may be aware that Staff Sargent Taifa'ana'e and I were invited to an important meeting of two clans of the Na'vi. We had a successful interaction with the Na'vi people of the Zongtseng Alor clan, and a neighboring clan called the Yayo Atumpin. Zongtseng Alor, for those of you you who don't know, means Beautiful Safe Place. The Head Chief and the the Spritual Leader both assured me that their HomeTree would be a Safe Place for both SkyPeople and Na'vi to meet in peace. Later during this briefing Staff Sargent Taifa' will share with you some important intel we learned at this meeting. But Captain Janet Henderson met me at my chopper a few minutes ago with THIS intel ...
 Our contact at Hell's Gate has informed us that ALL of the original RDA pukes have been shipped back to 'Rrta, to Earth, and had been taken to trial, and found guilty, for violation of intergalactic commerce, and are currently serving time in hard labor at the penal colony on Io."  She had to intersperse her phrases for interruptions of wild applause and cheers from her group of rebel fighters.
"It seems that our efforts to route out the remaining RDA mercenaries, is still underway, though. We need to eliminate the remaining hostile mercenary forces. Too many of them are still alive and well," she said grimly. "But there is a new development: our informant has had contact with a new mining consortium and it is staffed from top to bottom with new blood.  This Mining Company, does not have and will not have, a mercenary force.  They are willing to work with the Na'vi and wish to set up diplomatic talks with them and the various rebel defense groups, such as ours, who have pledged to defend the Na'vi peoples and Pandora.  As ranking officer here, I plan to represent our rebel force at this CONFAB.
 "And it seems that we may have located another group of rebels that we may wish to meet.  Staff Sargent? I give you the floor."

27~ The big Samoan stood up and adressed his fellow rebel fighters.
"During  yesterday's meeting we learned some very important facts:
The Zongtseng Alor Clan is in contact with the Omaticaya clan that we all know about, and yes,
Jake Sully is Eyktan, clan leader, and Neytiri is now Tsahik, though she is deferential to Mo'at, who is still alive and doing well."  He paused until the cheering subsided. "The hunters of the Zongtseng Alor clan told me that the Omaticaya have a new HomeTree, a few kliks from the one the RDA destroyed" (More voices and nods of approval) "AND, And... a set of rebels have moved from Hell's Gate, and now have their own HomeTree another klik from there. (excited murmuring) The Omatikaya have helped them build their new bivouac and get this...they have found a bush that emits oxygen. It is rumored that one twig, inserted in the mask, eliminates the need to rely on a canister for filtration. AND, the SkyPeople have rooms within their tree that are air tight against the caustic Pandoran atmosphere.  So it looks like we have another group of sympathizers to join forces with!"
 More outbursts ensued, while Tai got to her feet again and Taifa'ana'e returned to his seat.
"I have made a personal contact with a small Na'vi woman of the Zongtseng Alor clan.  She has served as interpreter for me on a previous medivac mission."  (Tai couldn't help but notice Taifa's expression as he rolled his eyes when she mentioned her small Na'vi woman, and suppressed a smile of her own.  "I would like to bring her to our base for a visit, IF she agrees to be blindfolded and  IF you all agree that it would be advantageous. She is not afraid to fly and is small enough that I let her sit in the left seat during that Medivac mission.  She is an enthusiastic liaison and is eager to teach others survival tactics in the Pandoran field, and can teach us some words and phrases in Na'vi."

28~  She watched as Taifa smirked and looked away. But he was smiling.  A short discussion ensued where all the pilots agreed that Ateyo should be escorted to their base, only if she was blindfolded.  Tai could not suppress the smile from spreading across her face when it was suggested that she return to "Z-clan" to reconnoiter with the clan to see if they could arrange a meet up between the Omatikaya and the other rebel unit. Captain Henderson was instructed to continue setting up a Recon with the new mining company, and to inquire about fuel supplies for the aircraft.
"All right, folks.  I could use some chow and some shut-eye, I want to be skids up at 0900 hours.  Taifa'ana'e, with me. The Zonga Clan is getting comfortable with us."

29) On their way over to "Z-Clan's" HomeTree, Taifa'ana'e asked Tai Tae Ao
"Permission to speak freely Ma'am?"
With her trademark grin the pilot replied, "Sure.  This is about my friendship with Ateyo, isn't it?"
Taifa'ana'e said," You have every right to be happy, Tai. But I would just like to know, before the rest of the troops: Are you two getting serious?"
 Tai Tae Ao pursed her lips and replied thoughtfully, "I can only speak for myself, Cousin. But I could wake up next to that blue-skinned woman for the rest of my life and be in heaven on Pandora." They weren't literally cousins, not anymore than each Na'vi was literally brother or sister.  The familial reference was only a means of emphasizing the closeness of the Samoan community.  It was a tribal aspect of life that was also common among the Na'vi.
Almost a full minute lapsed before she resumed her conversation. "If she doesn't feel the same way about me... well...It wouldn't be the first I that I've been rejected."
 "Tai, among all my other concerns about inter-species relations, I've gotta point out that you are a good and honorable warrior, and you deserve someone who appreciates that, regardless of what planet they come from." He did not wait for a response but pressed on."I mean, this Ateyo might not want you to be involved with the rebel forces.  I can see how reluctant she was for you to leave... and how could you two even kiss without keeling over?"  He knew he was revealing more envy than was appropriate.
Tai smiled at Taifa'anae and understood that he was grappling with impossibilities.
"Don't worry, Sargent.  We will just have to see what Eywa has in her heart for Ateyo and me."

30) Taifa'ana'e sat with his thoughts. He truly realized that there was no future between himself and his Samoan friend.  He simply felt excluded and lonely.  Right now he was serving alongside a strong example of Samoan Warrior Woman, and he did not want to let her down. "I have visual on the Z Clan HomeTree, do you tally?"
"I tally the HomeTr... whoa what's THIS?'
Suddenly, they were flanked by two ikrans.  Taifa'ana'e recognized the two riders as hunters he had met the previous day.  He saluted them and they returned the gesture from their forehead. As Tai throttled back.  The flexwing and the "honor guard" settled in a clearing near the massive tree. A crowd of Na'vi people surged forth, with Ateyo and the children in the lead.  From the cockpit, TaiTaeAo caught the eyes of Ateyo who gestured, Oel Nagati Kameie. Tai returned the sentiment.

31~"Heyn Ma Tai sì Ma Taifa'! 'Aku Hawnven? Remove foot protect?"
"Srane!"
"Zipper. 'Aku hawnven Ma Taifa'?"
Both Samoans were happy to remove their boots. And strip off their socks.
"Heyn Ma Tokxtsyìp!" Tai patted the spot next to her.  She and Taifa', Eyktan Ikxeru, and his wife Tsahik Mekir, were sitting within the Kelutral, in an alcove that was nestled between the gigantic roots.  The area was cordoned off by screens which were actually the fanlike membranes of hammerhead
creatures, ayangtsìk.  These served as a polite reminder for privacy, and no one in the olo' would dream of violating that.  The sunlight filtered through the leaves and cast dancing shadows upon the screens.
Mekir'ite, brought in the ceremonial kava, in child size drinking bowls. The solemnity of the occasion was honored by the Samoans.
 "This Kava ceremony of Samoa is very similar to this one, long before evil came upon us."
Tai waited for Tsahik to translate and then Taifa'ana'e spoke;
"In our...olo' (he was pleased to remember the word for clan) Tai Tae Ao was Matai, a sub'chief.  She was well respected on our island and lead the rebellion against the greedy companies that over-ran our island and stripped it of all life.  We came to Pandoran because we had heard that much of its original beauty remains.  We are here today because we have learned some disturbing news that will affect this planet and the Na'vi."

32~ Tai then, began to relate the news of the new mining company who sought council with the Na'vi before considering the possibility of developing a mining operation. She finished her talk with these words;
"Ma Ayeylan.  Your people and mine have both suffered at the hands of greedy palangi, Ayketuwang, aliens.  Taifa'ana'e and I have rebelled against the forces on 'Rrta and have rebelled against the forces of the RDA.  We now consider Pandora our home.  Taifa'ana'e and I both feel very strongly in this respect.  We are here to pledge our protection to this clan, to the Na'vi people and to the this planet, the child of Eywa.  We two wanted to be clear about our loyalties before you and before Eywa, the Great Mother of All Things."
 Tai resumed her seat beside Ateyo, but left her eyes upon Eyktan who was deep in thought. Finally he straightened up and addressed Tai and Taifa';
"You two have made a deep impression on our hearts, and upon the heart of our Ateyo, whom we love dearly.  We might not have given this idea of a council meeting with sawtute, if it hadn't been for knowing you and knowing of the good sawtute of the Mipa Tsray, New Village, of the Omatikaya. Jake Sully is the Eyktan of the Omatikaya now.  I think we all know that.  He would like to know of this meeting.  Perhaps we should all go visit the Omatikaya right now and hear what he has to say."

33~ " Ma Ikxeru! I would greatly appreciate the company of Ateyo on this trip, with your permission."
Eyktan smiled upon Ateyo. "It would be difficult to refuse such a request! It will take nearly two days of travel by ikran. But I don't think Ateyo would know how to get there. She has not flown ikran."
"I can bring both of you and two of your hunter/warriors, as well, Ma Ikxeru.  We can be there long before nightfall.
  "It is agreed, Ma Tai.  We will meet you at lefngapa yayo, kunsìp, very soon."
With that the Eyktan stood and called his hunters to determine who would stay and who would go on this excursion.  They met in front of the Samson almost immediately, with the Tsahik's daughter substituting for Meykir.  Truth be told, Meykir truly did NOT want to fly in the kunsìp, and her daughter clearly looked forward to it. "It will be a good experience for you to be present at this early stage of Lawk, Ma 'Ite. Very soon you will need to know how to interact with sawtute as well as Na'vi."
 Tai assigned Taifa' the doorgunner position, and placed the Eyktan behind the pilot's seat.  Ateyo happily positioned herself in the left seat, next to Tai. And dutifully grabbed her excitedly twitching tail and pinned it upon her thigh with her open palm. Tai made sure that all were seated."Are we all ready?"
Ateyo had learned the thumbs-up position ." MAKTO KO!"

34) After learning the general heading of the Omatikaya's kelutral, Tai explained that it would be safer to travel low, "under the canopy", if possible. A quick conference ensued, while the Na'vi learned to use the communication devises, and discussed routes.  The Eyktan, through Ateyo, determined the direction.
It took only three hours to fly there, and the warriors preferred to stand while skimming over the grass and beneath the treetops.  Ikxeru pointed to the burned out ruins of the original Omatikaya Kelutral.
It was easy to recognize the anguish and determination in the eyes of each person on the ship, sawtute and Na'vi alike. But the location of the new tree was quite close, and Tai started looking for a place to set down her bird.  Amazingly,there was a clearing nearby and she was able to set down right next to an abandoned Sampson with it's windows removed.
 One of the warriors started talking with Ateyo.  As Tai shut down the engines, Ateyo explained that the kunsìp belonged to the Omatikaya's aysawtute and it no longer had "go juice."  A group of Na'vi and humans appeared from beneath the tree, bows drawn.
"Taifa' secure your weapon."
"I'm ahead of you Tai!" The door gun was placed with the barrel up. "Everybody wave!" bellowed Taifa' as he made friendly relaxed gestures with his mighty arm. It occured to the Samoans, perhaps too late, that their entrance might be perceived as a threat. Mekir'Ite was first to leap out of the Sampson, followed by the two warriors.  Taifa' helped the Eyktan dismount. Ateyo and Tai soon followed.  And by this time the party was greeted excitedly by the Na'vi of Olo'Omatikaya and their aysawtute of Mipa Tsray.

35) It wasn't long before JakeSully charged up from the nearby riverbank, hand-in-hand with Neytiri.
"We were worried that we were under attack. We had just gone for a swim!" he sputtered breathlessly.
Everyone was talking excitedly. There was definitely a flood of new information to be dealt with.
"Come!" said Neytiri in her calm commanding manner.  "Our guests have come far and we have much to share.  Join us in our gathering place, there is food to be had, as well."
 "Whoa. This is outstanding! I had no idea there were other sawtute around." said Jake as he approached the helicopter pilot and her door gunner. I'm Jake ..."
 "Sully!" Taifa' grabbed his hand and shook it enthusiastically. "I'm staff Sargent Taifa'ana'e and this is Major Tai Tae Ao, our pilot." Tai shook Jake's hand firmly and explained on their way to the new HomeTree. "When my flight saw Rogue One turn away, we each independently and simultaneously decided to 'miss our shots'.  A few days later, Quaritch completely' lost it' and revealed his plan to bomb the Tree of Souls. The crews of all six aircraft in my flight met quietly and devised a plan for our defection. We positioned ourselves at the rear of the formation and attacked from behind when the shooting started.  In the ensuing battle I was responsible for dropping six scorpions.  They never checked their Six. In all, our flight destroyed 20 RDA aircraft."
 Jake was astounded."  So there are six flex wings with you?"
Tai responded, "We have a secret base out here.  And there are more located through out Pandora."
 "Ateyo!" came an enthusiastic cry.  Puvomun and Amhul came trotting up as the party drew up into the great gathering room in the center of the massive tree.
Jake Sully interrupted their joyous exchange. "Rutxe! Everyone! There will be time for the aysulfätu, the teacher/craftsmen to share, and for the sawtute to share among one another. But first, let us learn what brings our guests here." He and Neytiri guided his guests to the central area.

36) It was made known that the discussion should be kept for council matters. so Norm was sent for to complete the council circle. The question of fuel for the kunsìp was added to the agenda.  Clearly, Tai had connections that the Mipa Sray did not, hence the grounded, windowless Samson. In the meantime fruit and dried meat was presented and information was shared about the New Village of the Sky People. Once Norm arrived, formal introductions were given. It was then that olo'eyktan Ikxeru stood and addressed the topic of the new mining operation and the request for a meeting among the Na'vi and the new mining company was made known.  This brought a heated discussion about the destructiveness of the previous sawtute mining company, RDA.
 Jake was of the opinion that anyone who represented a large corporation is guided only by profit and greed.  These were concepts that were difficult to explain to the Na'vi, who always sought for balance with Eywa.  The destructiveness of that greed was easy enough to illustrate.
 Neytiri was quick to point out that among these corporations and their armies, there were good sawtute, such as Jake, such as Tai and Taifa', and cautioned that there should be a mechanism for the introduction of good sawtute to the planet.
 Ikxeru and Tai, both presented that the mining companies take what they want, and both decided that the request for lawk, parlay, was possibly a ruse to build the illusion of sensitivity and compliance.
 Tai illustrated that with the tale of destruction of her own island and the rape of the Earth, leaving nothing but ashes and air that was almost as hard for humans to breathe as Pandoran air without exopacks.
The conversation almost segued into the discovery of the oxygen bushes, but was herded back into the discussion of what should be done with the impending introduction of the new mining operation on their planet. JakeSully stood to his feet and declared,"Major TaiTaeAo has traveled far and has much to tell about other sawtute who are already living in hiding. Let us listen to the words of Olo'Eyktan Lefngapa Yayo."

37~Tai stood and faced the group, and extended her hand to Ateyo saying  "Ma Ateyo, rutxe". Ateyo smiled, and took Tai's hand, and joined her in front of everyone, to translate for Tai.
"One of my pilots, Captain Henderson,  told me that the good sawtute at Hells Gate have received messages from an incoming starship, that will be here in a little more than a month. Hell's Gate is now controlled by the good sawtute that rebelled against RDA. It is still powered by the nuclear fusion reactor. They don't have lighting outside for fear of attracting the RDA vrrtep that remain. Our forces have still been able to access fuel for our flex wings, kunsìps. (We need to discuss how we missed yours)"
 "The RDA that remain are few in number, but they too are in hiding.  They are spies, and try to damage equipment at the base, and in some cases, try to hurt or kill the Na'vi.  When I, or the people under my command catch them, we offer them NO chance for surrender, we KILL them, and we do NOT say prayers for them".
"But there are good sawtute on the base. Many of the technicians remained, there are two Avatars developing in the tanks derived from the DNA of two avatars found on the battlefield.   The sawtute on the StarShips bring groups like ours weapons, ammunition, food, medical supplies, and fuel for our Flex Wings, so that we can hunt down and kill the RDA vrrtep".
"The messages that we received from the incoming starship say that ALL the RDA that were on the Earth were put in chains, and will spend the rest of their lives at the penal mining colony at Io, an uninhabited moon of the giant planet Jupiter in the same solar system that the Earth is in".
 "The people of Earth, when they saw pictures of the destruction caused by RDA,they revolted. The people of Earth were so horrified that by the ugliness and destruction caused by greed, world wide riots on Earth sprang up everywhere almost over night. They went into the RDA offices, destroyed their equipment, and burned their buildings TO THE GROUND.  ALL the RDA that were here, and ALL the RDA people who returned to Earth were sent to the penal mining colony on Io, where they will die of old age.
     "The group of people that are coming out here only number a little over one hundred, They are Doctors who will treat the wounds of anyone here that was hurt by the RDA vrrtep, and Technicians, who who will fix up all the link systems at the base, so that body parts can be grown for people who have lost body parts because of the RDA tyranny. AND,they will bring and more fuel for our flex wings, so that we can spend more time hunting down the last of the RDA spies. They ASSURED the people at my base, that there are NO MILITARY SOLDIERS on that starship.
"They want to speak with twenty or fifty leaders, to a group made up of both Na'vi and the Humans who have pledged their blood and honor to protect the Na'vi, and this beautiful place called Pandora.
"I have no right to speak for the brave Na'vi people, but I DO know how the people of Earth think, and if the wise ones here decide that we should go and listen to what they have to say, I would consider it a great honor if I were allowed to be part of the delegation from Pandora".

38) Each person in turn, stood and spoke addressing their concerns.  Norm was especially interested to know which avatars were being held in suspension.  He had a vested interest, after all. The sawtute were amazed that anyone was at Hell's Gate, especially "Friendlies".
"Damn, maybe we didn't have to ground my bird after all," groused Lt. Swenson "We had no idea that Hell's Gate was occupied.   We figured the labs had been over run by RDA forces.  Quaritch was on  destructo mode."
"You say there are still RDA stragglers? I'm surprised that they didn't take over at Hell's Gate." asked another sawtute, whose name Tai didn't remember.
"Oh they tried.  They tried and failed," said Tai with a grim smile.
"Most of us at Mipa Tsray, the New Village, were from the science team." Norm gestured in the general direction of the New Village. "So is someone there now?"
"More shall be revealed," said Tai cautiously.  "We have a skeleton crew at Hell's Gate and some other flights and some AMP suit units as well hidden throughout the region... Um, what's so damn funny?"
Norm spoke quickly to Ateyo and Ateyo suddenly grew shame faced and embarrassed.
 "Your Ateyo here, just explained that you have a crew of skeletons at Hell's Gate!"
Jake Sully stood up." I think we have more to discuss, but I'm getting hungry.  What say we break for grub?"  Again there was laughter and Tai looked at Norm and Jake.
"Your Ateyo said, "Let's eat grubs!"

39)~ And indeed, they ate many skewers of roasted teylu. Taifa', the Big Samoan, exclaimed, "You have GOT to show me where to get these!  I could eat these all day!"  Olo'Eyktan Ikxeru laughed and said;
"Ma Taifa'ana'e! You are sitting near Tsulfätu a telyu taronyu! our expert grub hunter! Ateyo knows where to find the best grubs!"
Ateyo blushed at the compliment and wondered how the Big Samoan would take that.
"Well, Ateyo, ma sis.. er Tsmuk, you will have to take me hunting with you! We will have to fill TWO baskets!  That is, if you can drag yourself away from TaiTaeAo long enough to take me grub hunting!"
 She was a little embarrassed to translate that among all the strangers here, but Norm solved that by translating. Everyone seated within earshot found that very amusing and giggling bubbled forth. "this is a first," Norm continued, "How long have you two been together?  I mean. it helps that she is the same height as a human, but how do you ...?"  And then he had to stop because he was embarrassing himself for being so nosy.
 But TaiTaeAo responded.  "We only met a few days ago, and we have always been surrounded by  HUNDREDS of children, as self-appointed chaperones. So that doesn't allow for much interpersonal time!"
 This very thought had been troubling Ateyo, so much so that she had composed a poem to that effect. She rose to her feet and sipped some water from a wooden bowl. She had a sad smile, when she began:

It was a plaintive song,sad and sweet and ended on a hopeful note.
Immediately, the sawtute requested a translation:
Norm and Ateyo, then did their best to translate, with Ateyo singing a line
and he repeating it  mì Inglìsì
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A bird can love a fish
But where would they make their home?
A SkyPerson can love a Na'vi
But how would they breathe?
Or commit The Bond?
My aching heart!
How can we share a kiss?
In a life-dependent manner~In an enjoyable manner!?
Love will find a way, my sweet.
Love will find a way!
