420)~  "Nari si, Ma Meylan."  Watch, my two friends.  "Tse'a oeyä venit?" See my foot? The Captain had hooked his foot into a loop hold to give him some leverage against the movement of the hatchway wheel. But how was he to explain this with his limited Na'vi?  He demonstrated by loosening his foothold.  His turning movement had the effect of spinning his body, but not the hatch wheel.  "Tìng nati! Tse'a?" Watch! Look!
   He floated over to the bulkhead hatchway that separated the cockpit from the cargo hold/ passenger cabin, and pressed the intercom.
  "OK, Ma Srralta.  Once we four have left the cockpit, send up the others in sequence."  With those words, he gave a brief salute and turned towards the hatch.  In his halting Na'vi he explained "Lìng nefä,"  Float upward. And he ascended the tube.
   "Alaksi, Ma Pxepxi?"  asked Fritz Muellar.
   "Oe lu alaksi Ma Frits!" Pxepxi grinned and nodded.   She hardly noticed that he had mispronounced her name as Peppy.  "Nefä ko!" she exclaimed.  Let's go Upwards.
  Fritz guided her upward as she moved through the hatchway, with Kofi ascending behind her, playfully batting at her kxetse.  She was trying to keep her tewng and her tswin from rising faster than she.  Skillfully she tucked the flap of the tewng between her thighs, and held her tswin.  Kofi balanced her heel in the palm of his hand and added lift from below. He was enjoying the view.  This was as fun as swimming underwater, except that he could not blow bubbles upwards from beneath his muntxate!
   Pxepxi reached the top of the tube and propelled herself upward. Kapeyn Warwik caught her by the hand and guided her to a Hand Hold that was formed along the wall.  There were several such Hand Holds, and soon Kofi was alongside her.  Stiv Warwik spoke to the wall.  A voice answered and another opening appeared.  In stepped a female of strong bearing. Obviously, the Eyktan of the ship!
   Kapteyn Warwik stood straight and gestured to his forhead and spoke words in Ìnglìsì.
   "Permission from my party to come aboard?" saluted Captain Warwick.
   "Permission granted," stated the acting captain of the Starship, Gabriella Donsdorff.
  Pxepxi and Kofi followed suit, but said in Na'vi, "Oel ngati Kameie," as they gestured to their foreheads.
  "Oe lu Major Gabriela Donsdorff! Welcome aboard! Za'u nìprrte!"
   Soon Ateyo and Tai came up, followed by Taifa' and Ka'alani, the respective parents of Pxepxi and Kofi.  JakeSully and Neytiri came floating up, along with Ikxeru and Meykir.  Followed by Eyktan Atumopin and Tsahik Lamu'ite.  When the vestibule was crowded with all the Na'vi passsengers, Kapteyn Srralta Tamas 'stood' next to her First Officer and addressed the crowd. Norm was pleased to translate.
  "Welcome!  We are honored that all ayeyktan sì aysahik of Eywa'eveng have chosen to visit our ship for this day.  I have arranged that you may all visit the bridge, the place where JakeSully may communicate your message to the incoming StarShip." The Red Haired Kapteyn paused and allowed Norm enough time to explain where they would be going.  He was asked to convey her apologies in advance for the coolness, and the brightness, the oxygenated air, and the smallness, of the experience. (The ship being designed for ayhumon.)  They were cautioned against pressing any buttons and glowing lights.  They were assured that once Jake had conveyed their message to the new ship, that they would be shown another part of this ship that would be more comfortable for their overnight stay.  She asked that Norm explain how they would be propelling themselves through the air inside the ship. "Ayoeng sivop fya'o asnep ne tsengìri syaw, The Pxritxtse" We will be traveling this narrow path to the place called the BRIDGE."  Srralta explained proudly.
   "Ma Jake! Za'u!" Gabriella gestured for him to lead the way with her.
   JakeSully, being the eyktan anawma, demonstrated by 'flying' across the vestibule and pausing through the doorway from which Gabriella Donsdorff had beckoned.  Neytiri followed him and the Two Guests of Honor followed, then their parents.  Eventually, the Na'vi leadership were traveling along the corridor that led to the Bridge, laughing and exclaiming about the effortlessness of gliding through air.
  They were all escorted to the Flight Deck which ringed the Bridge.  "Nari si!  Mìn fya'o."
  Watch out, turn in this manner.  A gentle nudge to each person entering the deck, guided them to orient properly with feet toward the deck as the artificial gravity took over.  It was amusing to the Active Duty Crew to observe the expressions of wonderment on each person's face as they regained the perception of weight.  Once it was established that everyone could hear Srralta's voice, she brought JakeSully to the Comm Station.  She waited for the excitement to abate and casually flipped a switch.
   "Incoming ISV.  This is Kaptain Srralta Tamas of the ISV in geosynch orbit with Pandora.    We received your previous message and relayed it to the Na'vi delegation who is currently aboard this vessel.  Stand by for a response from Nawma Eyktan JakeSully."
   Jake, who never really got used to being addressed as the Great Leader, grimaced bashfully and addressed the console in front of him.  "Inbound ISV. This is JakeSully, Olo'Eyktan of the Omatikaya Clan."
   He turned to the technician at the console.  "Can they hear me or is this time delayed?"
   "Kehe, Ma Jake.  There is a three hour delay."
   "Leave them this message. Fìupxare:  Za'u nìprrte nìwotx sutan nemfa ayngä TanhiSìp. Come pleasurably, all people on your StarShip. Nìwotx frapo. All.  Everyone. Shrimpìri? As to the shrimp?  HELL YEAH! Ftxozä Ko!  Let's party!"
    "HELL YEAH!  HELL YEAH! ÌLEY! FTxOZÄ KO!"  Neytiri lead the enthusiastic chant which lasted a minute and a half.
  "Pennìri?  As to the clothes?  Wear what ever is comfortable!  Just remember, it is hot and humid down here."
   Neytiri walked up to the console beside Jake and spoke intently to it, as had her husband.  "That which is in the Heart is far more important than that which is on the body!  Fkol pole'un fì'ut! It is decided!"

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

421)~ Jake and Alex Koroshunov, at the Comm Console, dropped their jaws in disbelief, as Neytiri decisively punched a button on the console.  Unfortunately, it happened to be the wrong button.  The screen winked off, a recorded voice prompt queried,
   "You are about to shut down the exterior antennae for outgoing Communication.  Confirm if you are certain that you want to perform this action. "
   Alexander Korshunov would have slapped anyone who had dared touch his console.  But this was the Nawma Tsahik Neytiri!  And her right hip was only four inches from his nose.  He was simply overwhelmed by her presense.  With his fingers firmly clutched beneath the edge of his seat, he began to moan pitifully,"
   "No, no, no, no, no, no, no."
   "Ma Neytiri!  Kempe soli nga? Rä'ä ampi fay atanvi!" Jake hissed quietly and diplomatically at the console.  Neytiri, what have you done?  Don't touch the little lights!"
   Alex Korshunov gathered his wits about him, he realized that this situation could be remedied easily.  He raised his hand above his head, and said loudly,
   "Don't worry folks!  I have this well in hand!  Tam, tam, Ma Neytiri."  He reached over and touched the over-ride switch. The prompt disappeared and the console displayed its syuratan (bioluminescent glow) once again.  The voice prompt stated in its vapid, pleasant voice, "Please wait while antennae are realigned with target."
   Captain S'ralta was wringing her hands in mild distress, but decided to deflect the attention from that episode while Alex struggled with inputting the data needed to correct the realignment.  She raised her voice and said words in a polite, commanding tone to one of her crew members along the  back bulkhead of the Flight Deck.
   "Aye aye, Captain!" Was his response, and he turned to his console and activated it with a touch.  He pressed a sequence upon the glass while Captain Tamas' explained. "Ayoeng  tsun nari sivi Eywa'eveng ftu fìtseng ta'em."  We can see Eywa'eveng (Pandora) from this place up above."  Even the ayeyktan, who had viewed the hologram of Pandora at Blue Heart Gate, were taken aback when the blank area at the front of the craft, seemingly opened and revealed the crescent edge of Pandora against a velvet black sky with twinkling stars beyond.
   She realized that she had caused a modicum of anxiety among the Na'vi and explained, as best she could, that this was a large image, rel apxa, on the glass.  Eyktan Ikxeru dismissed his initial fear with a laugh, and comforted Tsahik Meykir with a reassuring arm. He spoke to others within his hearing,
  "Tse'a? Fì'u lu rel nì'aw. Ayoeng lu kekxu."  See? This thing is an image only.  We are unharmed."  Others followed suit and also laughed dismissively, eager to displace this moment of distress.
   Jake leaned over to Captain S'ralta Tamas' and said in a mock stage-whisper, "Next time, call your shot!"
   "All right, how about if I show them to their quarters?"
   "Good idea!" stated Jake and he called everyone's attention to himself and the Captain, once again.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

   422)~ Major Gabriella Donsdorff, almost regretted that she was still on duty.  She would  love to see the expressions on the faces of ayNa'vi when they saw their quarters.  One by one, she watched them follow Kapteyn Srralta Tamas'''  down the corridor, aft towards the imitation rain forest.
   Jake Sully was duely impressed when he passed through the hatchway.  Captain S'ralta had explained to each person that they would float down and find themselves on soil. Soil, in fact, from the surface of Eywa'eveng.  Immediately, it was noticeable that the atmosphere was kinder to Na'vi lungs.  It was warmer and more humid.  As they drifted down, they noticed plants which were familiar.  It was dimmer, and the syuratan, bioluminescent glow, was apparent all around them.  It was, in fact, an arboretum, slowly rotating on its gravitational axis.
   "Ayoe new ngivop fìtsenge fpìl ayuniltìrantokx sì ayNa'vi, nìteng.  We want to create this place for the sake of Avatars and Na'vi, alike," explained the Captain.  "Ayoeng  zamolunge 'akra ftu Eywa'eveng, mawkrr Wem fpi Ramunong Ayvitra."  We brought soil from Pandora after the Battle for the Well of Souls.  "Ayoe zamolunge 'akra tsat lamu txumnga' fa sawtute." We brought soil that had been made poisonous by the Sky People. "Ayoe zeyko 'akrat nìktungzup, sì ayoe rolun fwa ayrina rivey fìtsenge." We healed the soil carefully, and we found that seeds were living here.  "Eywal llrtok sivi mì awngä tìkangkem, ulte oleyk ayewyllit tsawl slu."  Eywa smiled upon our work and caused these plants to grow.
   "Nìawnomum," As you know, "Ayoe hamum Eywa'eveng kamzìsìt vosìng ulte tätxaw tsìnga kamzìsìto." As you know, we left Pandora twelve years ago and we returned four years ago.
   Aysahik sì ayeyktan gave her their undivided attention.  Not only were  they fascinated that Eywa'eveng was recreated here, but because the captain worded the Na'vi language awkwardly.  "Faywyll tsawl sarmi nìwotx fìkrr."  These plants have grown all this time.
   Neytiri felt compelled to point out, "Ma Kapteyn, nìawnomum, ayuìri tireayä Eywa rivey nemfä nìwotx .  My Captain. You already know, Eywa's spirit lives within everything. Srak, aynga fpìl fwa ngal nga' Eywati, nemfä fìtsengur?" Yes/No, you think that you can contain Eywa within this place?
   The word 'fìtsengur' was never quite finished, because as she turned the corner of a path, what she saw caused her to catch her breath.  Hidden from view, behind a wall of stone stood a small but glorious Tree of Voices.  It was only as tall as her shoulder.  A tiny waterfall spilled out into a small pool beyond it.  The soil was covered with carpet of soft, spongy, illuminated moss.  Laughing and crying simultaneously, she took Jake by the hand.  "Utral Amokri!" Tree of Voices.  Together they sat beneath the spreading branches, the glowing tendrils brushing away her tears of joy. Presently, she became aware of the voice of Kapteyn Srralta'.
  "Kehe Ma Neytiri. We only hoped to clean the soil.  Eywa decided to be here with us.  But we haven't presumed to commit tsaheylu with it."  Captain S'ralta  apologized.
  "Ngal tsaheyl seiyi huEywati mì Eywa'eveng, kefyak?"  You commit the bond with Eywa on Pandora, isn't it true?" asked Neytiri, wondering how anyone could resist communing with the Mother and all creatures.
   " We were waiting for you! Ayoe parmey  ngaru!" gushed the Captain, hoping that she didn't sound too solicitous. But Neytiri was smiling to herself as the tendrils of her tswin eagerly wrapped themselves around the tendrils of the little tree.  She was vaguely aware that the Kapteyn was explaining that they recovered the soil from Tree of Voices near where the Omatikaya Kelutral once stood.
   "Srane!" gasped Jake.  His experiences with that Tree were replayed in his mind, vividly, but from above. Suddenly he laughed, "Grace? Grace?!"  Neytiri leaned forward and grabbed the two nearest wrists.  Ateyo and Tai were drawn down and encouraged to sit with Jake and Neytiri.  The expressions on their faces were that of sheer ecstacy.  A few moments later, Ateyo broke tsaheylu and drew down her daughter to sit beside her.
   "Ma 'Ite, this Ey Ess Vi has many strange and wonderful devices, but come here everyday and stay connected with Eywa and the people."  Ateyo felt the sense of impending dread lifting from her shoulders.  Suddenly, she was no longer fearful of losing her daughter entirely to the ways of the ayhumon.  "Ma Srralta', Utralìri oe irayo seiyi." For this Tree, I thank you.  The red-haired captain blushed a lovely shade of lavender.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

423)~Once the Na'vi had each spent a few moments with the Utral Aymokri, they set about establishing an 'awm, a camp.  They were upset to learn that a fire would not be practical, but mournfully accepted the fact that, for one night, they would survive without its presence.  They each gave their condolences to Pxepxi and Kofi and reminded the two to spend a lot of their free time, connected to the Tree of Voices instead.
   Kapteyn Srralta'  was kept busy, explaining where the water went, when those who were curious,  began to ask.  Eventually the question was raised by Ateyo;
   "Fko tsun fngivä' peseng?"  Where can one relieve oneself?  Not only was she practical, but she was also possessed of a small bladder.  The tinkling sound of a waterfall always seemed to encourage the concept, likewise.
    Jake took the men elsewhere, and the women were escorted to a shiny cold room, separated into smaller compartments with an odd looking seat in each compartment.  Blushing, the Kapteyn described and demonstrated the procedure, without disrobing.  Everyone was incredulous at such an odd devise that required one to sit rather than squat.  But at least, it was humon-sized, so squatting was unavoidable.  Kapteyn found her skill at the Na'vi language stretched to the limit, and had to counter suggestions against the use of smooth leaves, as those would clog the system.  Again the question arose of where the water was sent.  Again, she tried to explain how the water was reclaimed and used for the plants.  She omitted the fact that the sterilized water was actually quite potable.  She was certain that she had not the skills to explain that concept satisfactorily.
   Ateyo took her daughter aside and regarded her mournfully.  "It seems that the ayhumon can only imitate life on Pandora to such an extent.  But you have chosen this path out of your curiosity.  Do your best to imitate their ways."
   Pxepxi had a wave of misgivings pass through her mind.  But she nodded.  "Oe pänutìng, Ma Sanu." I promise, Momma.
   The Na'vi had regrouped in the 'awm, camp, section of their quarters.  They were trying out the numerous hammocks and expressing dismay that these things could not be drawn around themselves as with a sleep-leaf.  But they were comfortable and reminded them of those back home.  But there were other issues to address. Eyktan Ikxeru addressed Kapteyn Srralta';
   "Na'viru 'efu 'ohakx.  Pefya tsun ayoe tayaron?" The People feel hunger.  In what way can we hunt?"
   "Na'viru lu fkxen, ayhì'ang, ulte, ayseylu, nìmun! The People have fruits and vegetables, insects and teylu of course. Slä rä'ä 'ayem fìtsenge!  But don't cook here!  Ayoeng set kivä ne tseng fpi yusom." We now will go Place for the Sake of Eating. With that, she sprang into the air, but kept ascending towards the wide open hatchway. Laughing, they all joined her.  One by one, they emerged from the mini nar'ing into the tube, and floated in line toward the eating place.  Jake excused himself and made his way back toward the Flight Deck with Neytiri in tow.  She promised to keep her hands off the glowing buttons, this time.  He felt compelled to explain to the people on the other ISV, why the previous message had ended so abruptly.
  "Moe tivätaw ye'rin.  We two shall return soon."
  Within the Eating Place, one wall had an array of food items available.  Many foods were unidentifiable, but there were many fruits and vegetables from the surface of Pandora.  Ateyo remembered some of these ayhumon foods from her early visits with Tai at the Hidden Base.  She pointed to a fluorescent orange food product.  "Fì'u lu Makan Tseez.  Rä'ä yivomit!  Nga ketsivun fngivä' pxeya trr!"  This thing is Mac and Cheese.  Do not eat this.  You will not be able to relieve yourself for three days!
   The Kapteyn contacted the Bridge to send an escort.  She explained that she wanted to stay with the Na'vi for the next hour or two while they transitioned to their visit on board the Star Ship. Soon Jake and Neytiri were once again on the Bridge, and Alex Korshunov was again hailing the Inbound ISV.
   "Inbound ISV. This is the ISV in GeoSych.  JakeSully would like to make an addendum to his previous message..."
   "Inbound ISV. This is Jake Sully.  My apologies for the abrupt ending to the previous message.  We experienced ... a technical GLITCH," he explained with a half smile, and a sidelong glance at Neytiri.  "We believe that it is not important how you are dressed when we meet.  We are looking forward to sharing a ftxozä, or a luau.  There are four Pacific Islanders who are anxious to meet you, as well as the Eyktan of the Eastern Sea Clan.  And speaking of the Pacific Islanders, Ka'alani, recognizes the name of Dan Warren.  She remembers his contributions to the overthrow of the RDA Control Room.  She is very excited to see him once again, because she thought he had been killed in that skirmish.  In that case, Max Patel will also be pleased to see Dan once again.  Tam, Tam. Mawey li'vu aynga.  There, there. Be calm all of you. Atumopin made me promise to tell you all that she has claimed her Under Sea Renegade children to her clan.  She is very insistent that I share a Kaltxì Si on her behalf!
   "The formalities of joining you each and all to your respective clans will take place in the ensuing days after our scans are complete. We trust that your science officers and ones aboard this vessel will do all that is necessary to provide concrete information regarding an under sea volcano.  Za'u nìprrte!  Come with pleasure. Jake Sully. Out."

#424
424)~ Jake and Neytiri returned to the eating place and each helped themselves to (relatively) fresh fruit and vegetables, ayfkxen, and a healthy serving of seylu.  They were pleased to see that yerik was on the menu.   All the Na'vi were squatting on the benches, but no one was eating. Jake was puzzled.
  "Ma Jake," said Eyktan Ikxeru, "Tsnganìri pefya tsun yivom ayoel ?" How can we eat this meat?  How do we know if words of thanks were spoken over it's life?  You have no fire.  How was this cooked? The People are hungry, but they do not wish to disgrace the life of this yerik."
  Up until this moment, it hadn't occurred to Jake Sully that any of this was problematic.  For a moment it frightened him to realize how easily he had co-opted the humonä attitude of eating pre-prepared food.  For a moment, he was perplexed. And for a moment, he had no reply.
  "Ma Ikxeru."  Jake looked up gratefully to the voice that was interceding.  The fellow wore an elaborate headdress of red feathers, and was sitting next to Kapteyn Srralta'.
  "Ma Täpxuke'a. The son of the Leader of Red Bird Clan should speak." Ikxeru acknowledged the speaker and  politely indicated that Täpxuke'a should continue.
  "Tam, tam, Ma Ikxeru.  Pxoe tamaron fìyerik srekrr ayoeng tswamayon ne fìtsenge. "  'There, there, My Ikxeru.  We Three hunted this yerik before we all flew to this place.' He indicated Captain Srralta' and Stiv Warwik.  As we have done since the Ayuniltìrantokx joined us.  We keep it in a very cold place before it is cooked. But I assure you, we have said the words of thanks for this life."
  "Ma Txäpxuke'a. Ayli'uìri 'eykefu mawey mìfa txe'lan oeri." As for these words, they cause the feeling of calmness in my heart.  Oe irayo seiyi."  I thank you,' said Ikxeru with a sense of relief in his voice.
  "Fpìl oe fwa ayoeng tsivun yivom aywutsot niwotx mì Tsenge Na'viyä." I think that we should always eat our meals in the Na'vi place."  said Srralta Tamas'.  Her comment was taken whole heartedly, and people immediately took food in hand and moved toward the hatchway.  "Ftavang!" Stop! shouted Georgia Barnes.  "Lìng wutzo. Keftko nì'aw.  Oel tsun srung sivi. Float meal. Sad only. I will help.'
    Georgia had been cooking in the ISV Galley and had taken great pains over this meal.  She had learned to cook over a campfire as well, and had learned many cooking secrets from the Omatikaya, who frequented the Blue Heart Gate.  "Oel 'olem fìwutsot mìfa txep ro tsenge tìusem."  I cooked this meal over fire at the cooking place. She had taken great pride in broiling the meat slowly, and the seylu were crisp and brown on their sticks, but juicy inside.  Srralta' had every confidence in the Steward's abilities to cook and serve a delicious Na'vi style meal.  She also knew to keep her cook happy.
  Georgia had their attention.  "I will gladly bring the food down to the Na'vi place.  I am well versed in transporting food throughout this vessel without subjecting it to zero G's. Slä oe new hiveyn Na'vihu ulte yivom aynghu."  But I want to sit with the Na'vi and eat with them.  This remark was met with enthusiasm. It was unthinkable to the Na'vi that the Ayemyu, the cooks, would not participate. The entourage hastened along the corridor, pushing and drifting towards their Mini Pandora.  The Galley crew was close behind, guiding their pressurized food transport containers along the path.  Re-entering the graviation of the Na'vi place was only a little challenging.  There were many enthusiastic hands eager to help guide down the food.
 "Aynga srung sivi hu aynga' ". 'All of you help with the containers,' said Ateyo gleefully, not because she needed to instruct anyone, but because she was playing with the language.  Soon everyone was seated on the moss, eating and laughing. Georgia was laughing to herself.  She was pleased to be serving the Na'vi!
  Ateyo leaned over to Georgia and asked, "Nga lu 'emyu? You are the cook? "Pelun kìn atxele soli yivom ayoeng? For what reason you need to request to eat with us? "Fyape fko syaw ngar?" How are you called? Georgia smiled and sorted out the questions in her mind.
  "Srane! Oe lu 'emyu. Oe lu syaw Georgia Barnes." she said with a warm smile.
  "Tsortsya Pxarns?"  Ateyo tried to imitate the sounds.
  "Yeah, but we call her Cookie!" laughed one of her co workers.
  "Oh PLEASE!"  Georgia rolled her eyes in mock disgust.  She truly did not like the nick-name.
  "Kuki?" responded Ateyo. "KUK ral HARM mì Na'vi!  Slä ngeyä tì'usem KUK luke! Her cook does not hurt!"  Ateyo pulled out the wooden spoon from her waist band.  "Fìtìusem sa'o eyk KUK!  This kuking tool cause harm, kefyak?" Ateyo playfully demonstrated by knocking Pxepxi on the head, with a light rap.  Everyone burst out laughing, including Pxepxi.  "Oe fpil fwa sa'oìri nga tin to oe! I think, as for this tool, you need more than I, Kuki!"
  "Kuki! Oe lu Georgia!"  Georgia took the pro-offered spoon and gave Ateyo a playful RAP on the head.
  "TsorTsya too hard for say!  Syaw ngar Kuki! I call you Kuki!"  Ateyo  inclined her noggin toward Georgia, ready to accept her just rewards.  But Georgia was laughing.
  "Spoonìri oe irayo si.  For this spoon I thank you."
  "Fìsa'o ral SPUN?" asked Ateyo. This tool means SPOON?
  "Ngal lu eyawr! Spoon!"  You are correct! Spoon! bubbled the cook.
  "Fìevenge lu oeyä 'Ite, Pxepxi, sì ngeyä muntxatan Kofi.  If them not behave, mefkoti takuk!" This girl is my daughter, Pxepxi and this is her mate, Kofi.  If them not behave, strike those two!"
  Kofi looked up from gnawing on the shank and exclaimed, "Fìwotsotìri fkan sur ftxìalor! (This meal is delicious.)  I never make you mad at me Ma Ku-- Tsyortsyaw!  You come alla time and eat with we!"
  Many exclaimed at his wisdom and diplomacy, but the rest of the meal was shared among them and the conversation included introductions.  The notions that the cooks should eat separate from the crew was laid aside, for this excursion, anyway.  Arrangements were made for the following meals.  Eventually, the kitchen crew gathered all the remaining implements into their containers and launched themselves upward toward the portal.  "Hiyalovay!  Eywa ngahu!"
  When the meal was finished, Jake spoke with Kapteyn Srralta'. It was decided that she would page him when another message was sent from the ISV.  Kofi and Pxepxi were each told that someone would be sent for them in a while, to show them the station at which they would be working.
  "Blue Heart Gate ro, moeru tolel pxenur.  Fìtsengìri fkan zir tawew." At Blue Heart Gate, we two received clothing.  This place is very cold.  Pxepxi was not referring to the Mini Pandora, but to the rest of the ship.
  "Then lets find something for each of you to wear!" laughed Captain S'ralta Tamas' when she had translated that in her head.  Someone was assigned to escort each of them to their respective lockers, and were outfitted with (post)RDA military issue garments. The insignia had been removed and all items for lower extremities had an appropriate hole for a kxetse.  It was amusing, though, to watch Kofi threading his kxetse through the fly of his boxer shorts.  He was delighted and went to display his new humonä pxen to his muntxate.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

425)~ "Nari si, Ma Frapo! Nari si pekem oel kemfa kxetse oeri!" (Look everybody! Look what I can do by means of my tail!) Kofi was floating above the treeline, short as it was, but he had managed to grasp a twig with the tip of his tail.  This was quite a feat and was met by exclamations of surprise.  It was as unusual for a Na'vi, as wiggling ones ears or nose was for a human.  Possible, but not improbable.
   "I approve!" shouted Ateyo from below.  "The boy must be part Syaksyuk!  I am honored that you are mated to my daughter!"  Several people tried to join him, but with little success.
   Ateyo was excited.  "Fko polltxe SAN: 'awlie, nìwotx ayNa'vi tsolun sar sneyä kxetse fya'ofa. SÌK" (One has said Quote: once all Na'vi could use their tails in this manner. :UNQUOTE)  Doktor Kreys pivllte ha'. (Doctor Grace said so.)
   "Oe omum, Ma Sanu." laughed Pxepxi as she tried to grasp a branch in like manner. "Oel poti pamlltxe ulte pol fmarmi akrrta." (I know Momma!  I told him and he has been trying since that time.)
   The  courier, Lt. Thomas Otendahl, who floated down, was equally amazed at this feat.  It had never occurred to him to use his tail in this manner!
   "Ma Jake!  This was never in the Avatar Training Guide,"  said he,  as he allowed the gravity to pull him down.  He decided against saluting, because a loincloth was definitely not the Uniform of the Day.  "Ma Jake!  Captain Tamas' requests that you and the two Young Ones come to the Bridge.  I am to escort you there."
   "Tam, tam.  Rutxe pey tengkrr yemstokx ayoengä." OK, OK, Please wait while we put clothes on our bodies.  Jake asked Neytiri if she could help Pxepxi get into her Flight Suit.  "C'mon Balloon Boy!"  Jake batted loose Kofi's kxetse. Soon the four of them were gliding along the corrider toward the Bridge, along with their escort.
   "Kaltxì, Ma Jake, sì Ma Pxepxi, sÌ Ma Kofi! "  The red haired captain was delighted to see them. I called you up here for two reasons.  The first is to get these Two familiar with their Duty Stations.  The second reason is to play back a message that we received from the Inbound ISV."
   "Oh we got another message?  Let's hear it!" said Jake. The humans working on the Bridge, were amused that all four pairs of ears swiveled toward the sound recording, as the couples stood arm in arm.
    "Parked ISV, this is the Inbound ISV, Major Sharon West speaking.  Our message transit time is now 42 minutes. I have a suggestion Olo'Eyktan JakeSully, that we set up a Visual Conference with your Engineers and Scientists aboard your vessel.  But FIRST, we should have a meet and greet with the Na'vi aboard your vessel in seven hours.  Everyone here would REALLY like to see what our families look like.  If that is not possible, we will understand.  It seems like a wonderful opportunity for us to meet.  Please let me know as soon as the Ayeyktan sì Aysahik have made up their minds.  Of the last 52 humans with Eana Ayte'lan left alive in the Universe, we have the records of which of us comes from which olo'.  They are: two from Omatikaya, three from Zongsteng Alor, the seven of us Renegade Marine Biologists from the Eastern Sea Clan, ten from Olo'Yayo Atun, including the High Commander of this Ship, twenty from Olo'Vawma 'Ora, and ten from Txìkx-Txìkx-Txipxen.  We would all love for our families to be able to see us, and WE see them.  After we do that, all of our Scientists and Engineers would like to speak with Your Scientists and Engineers.  Major Sharon West. Out."
   "What did she say, Ma Jake?" asked Kofi.
   "They want to lawk with the people who will be searching Eywa'eveng for Ram aTxep mì Tampay.  Ayeykyu mengeyä. The bosses of you Two. Slä they also want to have an ultxa fa Nìn Alìm, a meeting by means of the LOOK FAR.  So that we can see them and they can see us. Ma Pxepxi, This Kapteyn West will want to talk about your vision, about the Ram Atxep mì txampay.  Will you want to speak with her?"
   "Nìlun, Ma Jake. Of course!" Pxepxi smiled to herself.  Now was not the right time to ask, but she knew Sharon West had actually walked on a neighboring moon.  She hoped they would become good friends.
   "Outstanding, Ma Pxepxi. Set, you must meet your meykyu, your two bosses, while we tell the others what we have learned."  With that he and Neytiri said their Hayalovays, and their escort lead the way through the corridors, once again.
   As Jake and Neytiri dived from the air above, they were greeted excitedly by the ayeyktan sì aysahik.  Neytiri was quick to assuage the concerns of the Two Mothers.  "Ma Ateyo sì Ma Ka'alani, mevìri mengeyä, mefo 'efu nìtram. As for your two kids, they are happy.  Ateyo didn't realize how anxious she had been.  She breathed a sign of relief and embraced her sister Twiti. And Tai. And Ka'alani. And Taifa'.  But Jake was speaking and Tai stopped her with an "Eltu Sì!"
   "Ma Frapo!" stated JakeSully. "We have received a message from the other Aye Es Vi.  Kapteyn Srron West wants to see moving pictures of each of you, so that they each know their clan members.  She wants to do this in seven hours.  That would be after we have eaten dinner, wutso atxon.  Then it will take a long while for those images to travel across the stars to their ship.  And they will send moving pictures to us.  In eana aytokx.  In that manner, we can see images of them even before we meet them tokx au tokx. (body to body, i.e, Face-to-face)
   "Ma Jake. When Toktor Kreys made images of us, it took almost no time at all.  Why must we wait? we have time now! We have our clans to care for.  I need to hunt!"  Ikxeru's impatience was beginning to show.
   "Ma Ikxeru!" said Kapteyn Srralta. "Let me see if we can make our images now, and not need to wait for,,, seven,,, for that much time!"  She turned to the courier, Lt. Otendahl.
   "Lieutenent?  Could you go down to communications and have a mobile video team sent here to the Avatar Encampment?  I think we can fill some time!"
   "Aye, aye, Ma'am."  Lt. Otendahl shot upward from the ground and kept traveling through the portal.

426)~  While he was gone, Jake told the ayeyktan that each clan would be receiving at least two Avatars to train.  Srralta had a copy of the message from Major West on her electronic clipboard that they referenced.
    "Neytiri and I will send the first message.  In that manner, you can see how easy it is.  Munea uniltìrantokx layu hapìtu Olo'Omatikayää. (Two Dream Walkers will be members of Clan Omatikaya)
   "Ma Ikxeru sì Ma Tsahik Meykir tsun tìng ayrel hay akrrmaw moe." (Ikxeru and Tsahik Meykir can give images next after we two.)
   By the time the crew descended from above, Jake had the clans leaders, tsahiks, and others arranged by clans in a semicircle.  The cameraman, Alan Taylor, was disappointed that he would be using only ambiant light, but agreed that the Floods would be distracting, and turned up the gain on his camera.
   With only a little more coaching, Jake and Neytiri began their introduction.
   "Kaltxì Ma Frapo!  Oe lu JakeSully, olo'eyktan Omatikayää."
From 'off stage' a voice was heard, "Kehe! Nawma Eyktan Fralo!" (No! Great Leader of ALL!) Laughter was heard in the background and Alan Taylor made a sign with his hand to indicate they should Proceed.
  "Fìtutee lu Nawma Tsahik Neytiri!"  Jake did not hesitate to share the Glory.  Neytiri flushed lavender but recovered to say,
   "Kehe!  Ma Sanok Mo'at lu mi Nawma Tsahik. My Mother Mo'at is still Great Tsahik. I am acting Nawma Tsahik!"  She was pleased to have remembered that phrase.  She and Jake had discussed this earlier, many times before.  "Za'u nìprrte ne ayoengeyä olo'.  Come pleasurably to our clan."
   She smiled graciously at the camera, and looked to Jake.
  "Next we have Olo' Zongtseng Alor.  Clan Safe-Place, Beautiful.
   "Oe lu Olo'Eyktan Ikxeru Olo'Zongtseng Alor. Fìtutee lu Tsahik Meykir. Pxezìma'uyuìri moe kaltxì seiyi."  I am Clan Leader Ikxeru of the Clan Safe-Place Beautiful.  This woman is Tsahik Meykir.  As for three newcomers, we two greet you warmly." Ikxeru was warming-up to the camera.  "I thinking, we need more than three ayuniltìrantokx, for reason, we lost some member of we.  Them make Olo'Mipa!  Fìtutee lu Ma Tai si peyä muntxate Ateyo te SyakSyuk, ulte peyä 'Ite Pxepxi, ulte Taifa'ana'e sì peyä muntxate Ka'alani, ulte peyä 'Itan, Kofi."  Ikxeru then realized that those two kids were elsewhere.  "You seeing Kofi sì Pxepxi krr alahe... some other time!"
   "Kehe!  Ayfo    kxetse lu oer! Their tail is my!" shouted Eyktan Atumopin, and playfully shoved her way in front of Eyktan Ikxeru.  "Oeru syaw Eyktan Atumopin! of Easter Txampay. My is akinä seven ftu Aytutan AoTxampey!  seven from Under Sea People!  Oeyä Muntxate lu  Tsahik Lamu'ite.  (Her name is joke. We tell later!) We have much fear alu Ram aTxep mì Txampay.  Fire Mountain in Great Water.  We hope,,, you all helping tutan ftu ayspono. People from ays lantxs."
   "Aylantxs, Islands," Corrected Jake Sully from off camera.
  "Srane,  Islands. Ngaru tsulfätu, Ma Jake." To you the Mastery (of English) "Aynga lu reypay oeri. You all is of my blood, and of oeyä Yawnetu.  You coming home soon!"  she nodded emphatically at Jake.
   "Next we have Eyktan Tsu'aku and Tsahik Tllkxrey of Olo'Vawma Ora',  Clan Dark Lake."
   "Oe lu Eyktan Tsu'aku, ulte fitutee lu oeyä muntxate Tsahik Tllkrey. Ayoe sìlpey fwa aynga sunu fayoang."
   A feminine voice then spoke and camera came to rst of Tsahik Tllkrey. "We hope you liking fish!  Ayoel ngati kayar taron fayoangit fa sa'o atxäftxur.  We teach you for hunt fishes by ,,, Weave tool. Nìvingkop!  (It popped into my head) NETS! ral NETS!" the Tsahik was rather pleased with herself.
   Jake introduced the next Clan. "Here we have Olo'Txìk-Txìkx-Txìpxen. Don't be scared of the long name.  It's more like a sound effect of pa'li hooves.  This is one of the Pa'li Clans and the leader is Eyktan Rolkxu.  Ma Rolkxu?!"
  "Oe lu Rolkxu ulte Fìtutee lu Tsahik Avatu'ite.  Tell Ma Ikxeru if him wanting more ayuniltiranyu, peyä sute tsun muntxate si mìfa soaia oeri!  Kaltxì sì Za'u nìprrte!  Ulte, ayzima'uyuìri, Oe sìlpey fwa ayfo makto asìltan to Ma Jake! (Tell Ikxeru if he wants more Avatars, his people can marry into my family!  As for the new comers, I hope you can ride better than Jake!)
  "Au!  I'll NEVER live THAT down!"  Jake glowed faintly purple for a few seconds, but he was grinning. "There you have it.  There are at least ten more clans, but these are the ones from whom you have DNA.  We look forward to seeing your videos. Havalovay. And Eywa Ngahu!"
   He didn't have to prompt them, they started shouting, "HAYALOYAY!"  "Eywa Ngayu!" as the camera lost focus and cut to black.
  Alan was Smiling.  "That's a wrap Jake, let's send it to them!  If you want, I can overlay the clan names and the names of the aysahik and ayeyktan. "
   "That would be a great idea!  Will it take very long?"
   "If I can get you to stand over my shoulder, we can have it ready within the hour."
   "Yes! Srane!  Neytiri, do you want to come with us?"
   "That depends.  Srake tsasengìri fkan zir tawew?" (Yes/No, that place is very cold?)
   "Srane, ma Neytiri,  keftko nì'aw.  (Yes, Neytiri. Unfortunately.)
   "Oe pivey Pxepxir sì Kofir. (I will stay here and wait for Pxepxi and Kofi)
Alan had already packed his moving image device and launched himself upward with. "Yawo!"
Neytiri and Jake exchanged a sweet kiss and whispered, "Hayalovay!" before he joined Alan.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

427)~ Frederick Lind and David Scott Jaggers were pleased  that they were actually familiar with their two young protogees.
   "Oe nga ziverok!" I remember you!" said Ensign Lind to Kofi.  "Oel ngati ultxarun vola kamzìsìto,  akrr  KOFIT ngal lamu fmetok, fmametok, 'awa krr!"  I met you eight years ago, when you taste, tasted, COFFEE, for the first time!"
   "Au! Srane. Tsatrrìri oe zerok anìltsan!  That day I remember well! Oel kenìväk kofit nìmun!  I never drinking kofi again!" Kofi himself was pleased that his Ìnglìsì was good enough to speak a few sentences.
   "Ngeyä Ìnglìsì lu asìltsan!" Your English is good!  laughed Ensign Lind.
   "Nìlun!  Oeyä sa'sem lamu ayuniltìrantokx!
   "Your parents were Avatars?  You are adopted?" Ensign Lind did not know what was meant by WERE Avatars.  "Srak, ngeyä säsem lolu kerusey?"  Yes/No, your parents are dead?"
   "Our parents being make dead by RDA long time past.  Ateyo taking niwotx ayorfan.  Set oeyä sa'sem lu fìtseng. Syaw Ka'alani sì Taifa'ana'e!"
   "OH! the Hawaiian woman!" And Frederick Lind swayed his hips and arms in an imitation of hula, which made both youngsters laugh.  And caused Ensign Jaggers to guffaw.
   "Nga lu srewyu asìltsan!  You are  good dancer!" teased Pxepxi.
   "Slä ngaru lu äio ram atxep mì txampay, kefyak?" But to you is the Vision of Fiery Mountain in Great Water, isn't that right?"  Ensign Jaggers wanted to get the session on track.  Pxepxi nodded and explained about her vision of the volcanic eruption, and the uncertainty of the time frame.
   "Ma Pxepxi, we are not going to show you whether your vison is true or false.  We can only show what is happening now."  His explantions took a long while and he spoke in both languages to the best of his ability.  He pointed to the wavy lines of the gravitational radar scans.  He found it difficult to explain ground swell oscillations when he had no word for magma or gas.  "Aytskxe nemfa Eywa'eveng lu txasom txana txasom ulte sleyku pxelpay.  Stone inside Pandora is very, very hot, and become like liquid."
  "Oel omum!" said Pxepxi excitedly. I know! "Oel tsole'a txep pxelpay sperule ftu ram mì txampay!" I have seen fire like liquid propelling from the mountain in the ocean.  Pxepxi was remembering her own visions and the visions of the other aysahik and the fizayu, the ancesters.  The visions were vivid and caught her offguard and were blasting through her mind.  But she surprised them all by asking her own question.
   "Srak, txasom tskxe pxelpay syaw LAVA, kefyak?  Akrr oel peng Kofiyä sanuti teri äio oeri, poe syaw tsa'u LAVA."  Yes/No  Very hot liquid stone is called LAVA, isn't that right?  When I told Kofi's Momma about my vision, she said that thing was called LAVA.
   Ensign Lind and Ensign Jaggers exchanged relieved grins.  Suddenly they were very grateful that Kofi's mother was Hawaiian.
   Kofi wanted to say that his father had taught him that Lava meant Txana, Very. Pxepxi was getting all the attention.  He wanted to be with her, but she was busy doing science. He realized that he was not paying attention when Ensign Jaggers was explaining GAS by making expanding and contracting gestures with his hands near his belly.
   "OH! GAS!  Oeyä sempu pereng teri GAS!"  My Poppa was telling me about GAS!"  Pxepxi shot him such a whithering look that he realized he had crossed the line from silliness to offensiveness.
   "Ma Kofi!  Many people could be in danger, and you are joking about stupid things!"
   It was at this point, that Kapteyn Srralta intervened.  She had been watching the interactions during the training session, and had seen that Kofi was more interested in being with Pxepxi than learning anything.  He was already proving to be too much of a distraction toward Pxepxi and her crew.   "Ensigns!"  She waited as they stopped and came to attention.  "Thank you for you patient explanations. Mengaru lu tsulfä akerar.  To you is the mastery of teaching.  But it seems that not both of your students are equally attentive. Menga rutxe za'u ayoehu.  You two please come with us."
     "Uh oh, skull session on the quarter deck." said Ensign Jaggers to Ensign Lind under his breath.  The Skull Session was actually on the Bridge.  Both sets of parents were present, as were Jake and Neytiri.  Pxepxi felt a sinking sensation in the pit of her stomach and imagined that she had just lost her opportunity to travel among the stars.
   They stood in a small circle facing each other.  Pxepxi took Ateyo's hand and allowed Tai to place an arm across her shoulders.   "Ma Pxepxi sì Ma Kofi." stated Kapteyn Srralta'.  She was not smiling.  "Your Eyktans and parents and I have been observing you and discussng your future.  Pxepxi wants to study with our crew and learn about Eywa'eveng and the other moons.  But Kofi simple wants to be with Pxepxi.  However, it seems that Kofi would be a distraction towards Pxepxi if he was still aboard.  For this reason, we think it best that Kofi stay aboard this ship, when it comes time for scanning, and that Pxepxi be aboard the ship with Kapteyn Sarron West."
   Neytiri then spoke.  "Ma Srralta'. The other Ay Es Vi does not have Eywa'evengtsyìp nemfa.  (little Pandora within) This is a concern to us."
  Jake spoke up, "Yeah, couldn't they simply be separated in different departments during their Duty Shifts?"
    "This is true, Meuianga  (honorable) Eyktan," interjected Eyktan Tai.  "Ma Kofi, you have dishonored your clan behaving in a silly manner when your muntxate is trying to do a great service to the People.  You truly do not wish to do science, you only wish to be with your muntxate.  Which is honorable, I must say. But you are acting like a child."
   Taifa'ana'e then spoke up.  "Ma Kofi, you have been behaving foolishly in this matter.  It is good to want to be with your yawnetu, but you must also allow her to grow.  Like a kenten, a fan lizard, you must hold her lightly and not crush her, and always allow her to fly.  For this reason, we think you should stay on this ship and allow your Yawnetu to serve the people.  It will not be forever.  These scans will take less than a season.  If you do not wish to study science, you may serve in other ways.  But you must become a better man, seykxel, strong in your heart, to become a worthy husband of such a One.  I say you should stay here, while Pxepxi works with Kapteyn Sarron West.
   Ateyo spoke up.  "These two are young adults.  We should not be making their decisions for them."
   It had occurred to Pxepxi that Kapteyn Sarron West had actually stepped foot on another moon.  She wanted very much to speak with her and become her friend.  But more than anything, she wanted to learn if her vision was a premonition of the future or a vision of the past.
   "Ma Kapteyn Srralta'.  What is most important to me is to learn whether this VOL-KEY-NO is vision of future danger to our People.  Kofi is beloved to me.  If we must be separated for a short time, I hope that he will wait while I do what I must do."
   She spoke her words in Na'vi, looking straight into his eyes.  He licked his lips nervously and knew that at this moment, he could save face or damage the relationship seriously.
   "Ma Pxepxi ulte ma ayeyktan.  Oeru nìprrte' txo oe 'ì'awn mì Ay-Es-Vi a teng alu muntxatehu.  It would please me if I could stay on the same ISV as my mate. Slä, if that is not to be, I would like to learn how to make Ewya'evengtsìp (a little Pandora) for Ay-Es-Vi Sarronyä. (Sharon's ISV) Fya'o, in this way, Pxepxi will have a good place when we are separate, ulte nìtotx aysutanru  livu Utral Amokri." (and to all people will be Tree of Voices.)
   The Older Adults exchanged wise glances.  They had expected a tantrum or some immature expression of disappointment.  His abrupt change of direction surprised them.
   "Ma Kofi, this thing about which you speak, tsa'uìri nga plltxe, would take many years to accomplish, but it pleases me that you are thinking in this manner," said Srralta in broken Na'vi.  "For tonight you will be together and for a while before Ay Es Vi alahe pate." (other ISV arrives)  "Tsa'u oe nìprrte. This thing pleases me."
   At once, everyone was slapping him on the shoulder and  congratulating him.  His father, Taifa', threw his big arm around his yound shoulders.  "Ngari leiu oeru nrra nìtxan, ma 'itan.
(I am very proud of you, Son.)

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

428)~The group was floating down the corridor when Jake Sully was paged overhead.  He turned back to the Bridge as the others proceeded to their Mini Pandora.  As they approached the portal to their landscape, they could see people entering.  With sealed food containers!  Lunch had arrived!  Compressed air jetted the containers groundward toward gravity.  Georgia Barnes greeted the Na'vi as they descended.
   "Kaltxì ma Eylan!  Ayoeng zamolunge wutso akxamtrr!" Hello my friends, we have brought mid day meal!"  The Na'vi were yet uncomfortable, eating without the presence of fire.  But soon abandoned their suspicions as once again, roasted seylu on a stick were presented as appetizers.  They were remarking at the subtle differences in flavor, unaware of the molecular transfer of glass, metal, and ceramics, as the food is cooked.  Georgia was careful not to cook food in plastic or polymer containers.  Convection ovens seemed to capture the flavor of the yerik nicely, though again, the subtle smoke flavors were faint.   Artificial smoke flavoring was simply too inaccurate for her tastebuds, as well as for the Na'vi.  Also, the problem with feeding this many Na'vi is that the leave "plates" were not abundant.  She would have to talk with the ship's Agricultural Expert, Tsanten,  to see whether these could be grown faster.
   She was pleased to find him speaking with the ewan, young man, known as Kofi.  She sat next to the girl, Pxepxi, and listened in on the conversation.  They were discussing how this Mini Pandora place was created.  She mentioned her request that more "serving" leaves be grown.
  "Nìprrte' oe fwa nga ziva'u ayngahu."  (I am pleased that you will be coming with us.) said Georgia to Kofi.
  "Nìprrte nìteng, Ma Kuki!" bubbled the young man. "My pleasing, as well!  We two, Tsanten sì Oe,  will grow for you, many pxaya ayrìk, many leaf for eat on top of!"  Kofi was getting more and more comfortable with the notion of staying on a starship and causing plants to grow.  The ship's agricultural expert, Tsanten, was pleased to be acquiring a Na'vi apprentice for this experiment.  Kofi continued, "Txo oeyä Muntxate new Ay Es Vi kä, oe new 'ivì'awn fìtsenge, ulte  kar eyk tsawl si aywyll. If my Mate want to go ISV, I will stay here and learn to cause plants for growing!"  Kofi smiled at his Mother, Ka'alani, who realized her Na'vi child was learning to speak Da Kina Pigeon Ìnglìsì, in the Pidgeon English that her people never quite outgrew.  "It's a shame for talk more better!"  She remembered her Aunties' laughing at their distinct interpretation of the language. Her reminiscing was interrupted by Jake's descent from the corridor above.
   "Kaltì Ma Eylan!" he said as his feet touched the ground.  "Ayoeru lu 'upxare ftu Ay Es Vi alahe!"  To us is a message from the other ISV.  "Ayfo fpole' ayrel 'erärìp olo'ru feyä." They have sent moving pictures of their clans.  "Yemstokx aypen ulte tse'a ko.  Put clothing on and let's see!"
   Most Na'vi did not like the idea of wearing restrictive clothing, but delighted in flannel pajamas and warm Na'vi sized socks.  Captain S'rralta Tamas'  notified the Mess Hall to increase the heating for their guests.  A queue of queues were soon filing into the Mess Hall.  The tables had been covered with heavy fabric for their seating comfort.  The lighting was dimmed and viewing screens emerged from the walls.  Jake gave a brief introduction as to what they would be viewing.
   "OK!  Roll it!" he said aloud and immediately behind him the image of Sharon West appeared saying,
  "Parked ISV.  This is the Inbound ISV, Major Sharron West speaking. I would first like to introduce the Commander of the vessel, The Eyktan of all the Eyktans on this ship, Colonel Joseph Hill."
Two people appeared in the image, and the woman gestured toward the man.  Colonel Hill got up and said,
    "Ma Nawma Eyktan Jake Sully sì Ma Nawma Tsahik Neytiri. Oeru lu prrte' plltxe mengahu.  Oe lu ke Nawma Eyktan, slä awpo a  srung si ayoeng tìran ne teng tsenge 'awsiteng." (Great Leader Jake Sully and Great Wise Woman Neytiri.  To me is pleasure speaking with you Two.  I am not Great Leader! but one person which helps everyone walk to the same place together.)  "Fìtsenge lu oeyä mala eyktan Major Sharron West, fpi pivlltxe hu aynga." (here is my trustworthy leader, Major Sharron West, for the sake of speaking with you all.)
  As they were watching, Neytiri turned towards Jake, barely able to hide her displeasure with the awkward speeches.   "Ayskawng!" She whispered to Jake with a wicked grin.  (They are all morons.)
   "They know more Na'vi than I did when I arrived!" he whispered.
   "Oìsss," hissed Atumopin in displeasure.
   The camera went back to Sharron who motioned the Under Sea Renegades to her side.  Once they were at her side, she began.
   "Ma Meuianga AyNa'vi! Fìpo lu oeyä hona Yawnetu alor, Pamela Wright, ulte, fìpo lu Steve Hobbs, ulte fìpo lu John Williams sì peyä muntxate Wendy. Ulte fìpo Jim Hanson, ulte fìpo Jim Everest, ulte fìpo Chip Higgins." (Honorable Na'vi!  This person is my adorable beloved Mate, beautiful Pamela Wright.  And this person is Steve Hobbs, and this person is John Williams and his Mate Wendy.  And this person is Jim Hanson, and this person is Jim Everest, and this person is Chip Higgins.)  "Ayoeng lu reypayä Atumopinä." (We are the blood of Atumopin.)
   Eyktan Atumopin gave a short ÌLEY, a triumphant war cry.  Almost all the other ayeyktan sì aysahik had their turn and hissed at Atumopin, all in good fun.
     Over the next hour and a half, the other members of the ISV crew were introduced by their clan identity, one at  time.   But each clan leader and tsahik were equally excited to be seeing their own new clan members.  It was almost expected for each couple to make an excited exclamation and be hushed by the others.
   Once that was completed, Sharon West spoke again.  "Ayoe nìprrte' fwa kaltxì seiyi ayoengä aytareyu."   (We are all delighted to say hello to our Relations.)  Mì haya zìsìkrr, ayoenga  kaltxì sivi tokx au tokx. (In the next season, we will say Hello, Face to face.) Tsakrrvay, Eywa Ayngahu!"  (Until then, Eywa be with you all.)
   The stern commanding face could not repress the excited grin.  "Oe lu Maìor S'rron West, signing off."
   The faces on the screens disappeared and the lights came up.  The Na'vi sat in shocked silence. For a moment.  Then all started talking at once.  Atumopin was nearly crowing with pride.
  "Srake, tse'a niwotx oeyä mipa ayhapäitu soaiayä!  Nìwotx ayfo lam pxel oe!" Yes/No, you saw all my new family members?!  They all look like me!"
  "Mungwrr muntxate S'rronä!  Poe lam pxel Ateyo!" Eätsept for the wife of Sharron.  She appears like Ateyo!" laughed Tsahik Meykrr, who poked Ateyo playfully.
   "Moeru lu lahea tsmuke!" We have another sister!" shouted Twiti Castillo, who had been playing stowaway amid the ayeyktan and aysahik.  She had tried to be unobtrusive until now.  She hugged her half sister, Ateyo with joyous ferocity, and everyone was laughing.
   "Ma Jake!" shouted Georgia Barnes above the noise!  "Ngaru mi keyom. Srake, ayoe tätxaw ne wutso set, kefyak?"  You haven't eaten yet.  Yes/No we should return to the meal now, shouldn't we?"
   "Outstanding! Srane! Ma Kuki! KÄ KA KO!" Let's go across! Neytiri shot him a scoffing look. But he only shrugged off her "Skxawng!" declaration.
   "I've always wanted to say that!" he said, as he lead the entourage back to the mini Pandora.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

429)~ "Oeru lom oeyä mevi!"  wailed Ateyo, in distress thinly disguised as humor."I missing my two kid!"  The Ayeyktan sì Aysahik were seated around the ylltxep, the communal fire of Spuwinä 'Awm, the Old Camp near Blue Heart Gate.  It had become a likely gathering place for Ayhumon and Mipa Na'vi, those whom Eywa had changed permanently.
   "Lolu aytrr akinä ni'aw, Ma Yawnetu!"  'It has been seven days only, My Beloved!' laughed Tai as she drew her into a hug.
   "Now you know how Pxepxi felt when this Newcomer came into your life and dragged you away!" teased Tsahik Meykir. "She hid from everyone for days."
  "Oe zerok." I remember, admitted Ateyo with a sudden look of guilt upon her face.
   "I know exactly how you feel, Ma Ateyo" said Ka'alani.  "Now that the little pest is gone, I miss him!"
   "Mefo lolu kelku sivi ftawnemkrr--- those two made house so long ago -- that I hardly miss them!" joked Taifana'i as a way of not admitting sentimentality.  Taifa' was straddling a log, with a short branch which protruded before him.  Upon this short, pointed branch was skewered a large taro root from the Blue Heart Garden.  He was demonstrating to Stefano Tira, fkarut fkxen, to peel vegetables, Fa'a Samoa.  In the Samoan manner.
   "Tse, at least you have kept yourself busy, Ateyo." said Narate Shepard of the Omatikaya Clan.  Her twins were toddling between herself and her muntxatan, Tsutey'itan, laughing and giggling.  Ateyo was sitting with her beadwork on her lap on a lap table fashioned of Sturmbeast shoulder bone.  She had drawn a large circle around herself in the dust.  The toddlers would tease her from time to time, pretending to intrude her workspace.
   "Tse, fì'u syaw TABLE, this thing called table make easy for work."  Her table had branches attached to either side.  Between the branches were strung the fkxile, bib necklace, which she was working on.  It was woven of darkest blue fiber, and glistening glass beads were interwoven to simulate the stars of tsaw atxonä, the night's sky.
   "Ma Ateyo,"  said Tai.  "Did you notice that tute standing next to S'rron West?  She looked like a taller version of you, slä hu ta'leng aoma.  But with purple skin!
   "Hers not looking like me!  Poeru lolu reypay Atumopin!"  To her is being blood of Red Painted One."  She herself could not see any semblance, though others claimed it so.
   "Niwotx ayfo oma'talengä lu oer!" All those Purple Skins are mine!" averred Atumopin with evident pride.  "Foìri oeyä ayevi leru, slä oel ke'ongokx ftu oeyä tokxit!" As to them, they are my kids, but not born from my body!"  The same was true, of course, of other Filipino Avatars who were now members of her clan.  She had successfully avoided being mated with a man all her life.  But the question of an heir had never been resolved until her own ayuniltìrantokx appeared in her life.  She had been grooming Laria Pxataya as a future clan leader.  She knew the olo' was in good hands during her absence.  Tai was certainly a good leader of the new olo' by the sea.  S'rron West was her 'daughter' as well, and would be olo'eyktan of ÄoTxampayä Sute, the UnderSea People. It had surprised her that S'rron West seemed to fear that they would not be accepted!  How could you not accept your own family member?! She was happily musing upon her mipa soaia, when her mate, Tsahik Lamu'ite observed;
   "Evìri fayur lu nìteng pxaya zìsìt to nga!"  Your children have the same number of years as you!"
   "Tse, I see that as an advantage! I never imagined myself a good candidate for Motherhood!"  She shot a glance at Tai and Zina, who also prefered females as mates, and the three shared a knowing smile.  Narate Shepard's two little boys took that opportunity to stop what they were doing and gazed intently at the Red Painted Na'vi.  She was nearly unsettled by their gaze.  She addressed Narate, instead.  "Some women are better suited to such an endeavor! You are raising two fine boys, Ma Tsmuke!"
   Narate thanked Atumopin and blushed with pride.
   "Ma Atumopin!" asked Zina.  "How do these people live under the sea? Do they have gills like fish?"  The question provoked lively conversation.  Everyone had been wondering the same thing.  They certainly appeared as Na'vi, or Avatars, but they claimed to live Under Sea.
   "Fayu oel ke omum.  These things I do not know.  But I am certain that our Newcomers will have many things to tell us when we meet!"

#430
430)~ Ensign Frederik Lind and Ensign David Scott Jaggers and Pxepxi, were talking with Tsanten Eywa  and Kofi.  They had developed a routine of meeting together before their shift started.  They shared a meal together, and all spent time crowded under the tiny Utral Aymokri.  At first the ensigns thought that it would be beneficial for the young couple.  Yet soon they realized how vital it was for them to partake.  They looked like Na'vi, and even spoke like Na'vi.  They had studied their history, but now, through the Tree of Voices they could experience their OWN history.  They sat, awestuck, as Pxepxi shared her vision of the volcanic explosion.  The experience felt extremely personal.  This was happening to them, their race. They were not simply onlookers.  The urgency was impressed deep into their hearts.
   "Ma Kofi," stated Tsanten Eywa.  "When I studied with Dr. Grace, she taught me that all the plants and trees talk to each other.  When Neytiri showed me that the RDA had ripped up the Tree of Voices that she and Jake had shared, I decided to do all that I could to bring this Tree back to life.  I wasn't sure if Eywa wanted to live aboard this Star Ship, put I felt it was right to do so.  She seems to have smiled upon our efforts, because this little tree is growing so well.  At that time, I had only human tokx.  I didn't realize how important it would be to me, to all Avatars, to FEEL as Na'vi. To experience all thoughts and feelings, as Na'vi.  Now I see that some of our people are in danger.  And Pxepxi, I feel in my heart that your vision is; that which once happened; and that which will happen.  The question is WHEN will this happen again?" he finished.
 "This is where We can help the people," continued Ensign Lind.  "If you two youngsters can be apart from each other for a few hours each day, Pxepxi can learn how to predict volcanic eruptions and Kofi can learn how to maintain Eywa'evengtsyìp." (Little Pandora)
  "Ma Pfretxarìk, (Fredrick) about these things Pxepxi and I agree.  I apologize again for behaving foolishy regarding Gas Eruptions.  But I think I will be happy learning about plants with Tsanten Eywa." He and Pxepxi exchanged glances that spoke of admiration and forgiveness.
  The four of them crawled from beneath the Tree of Voices.  Tsanten Eywa was telling Kofi, "   Pxepxi will go with Lind and Jaggers now, so spend a little time together."
  "We will be back for mid-day wutso!" assured David Scott Jaggers.
  Soon Pxepxi was floating away from Kofi.  She waved down excitedly as she passed through the portal to the corridor above.  "Eywa ngahu!" shouted Kofi from below. He tried to hide his dismay as his young wife left so readily in her sawtuteyä pen. (SkyPeople's clothes) It was all so different.  Tsanten Ewya took him by the elbow, saying, "Poe tivätxaw fpi wutso akxamtrr! She will return for the sake of mid-day meal.  Za'u, Ma Kofi! I will show you how we make it rain inside this StarShip!"
  Pxepxi, Lind and Jaggers floated down the corridor toward the Bridge.  " 'Auve ayoel frrfen Kukita."  First we must visit with Kuki, said Lind.  He led the small group to the office door near the Mess Hall.  Georgia Barnes was surprised to find them at her door, and even more surprised at their request.  "A glass of water? A pouch won't do?"  Even in the areas of the Ship that had gravity, a glass was an ancient throw-back.  Most preferred sipping out of the pouch.  "You know, gravity and glass can often be a dangerous combination."  She surrendered her prize possession.  "Don't go breaking this.  Why do you want this? Water and computers don't mix well, either!" She gave him an arched eyebrow.  "Don't worry, Cookie.  We are doing science!"  Frederick Lind did a spin out the doorway and joined his companions.
  "Permission for coming boards" said Pxepxi as she followed Ensigns Lind and Jaggers onto the Bridge.  The three descended to the deck and "saluted" Captain S'rralta Tamas. "Oel ngati Kameie."
  "Za'u nìprrte!" exclaimed the Star Ship Captain.  "I see you are prepared to demonstrate wave lengths!" she said as she welcomed the three.
  "You don't miss a thing, Ma Kapteyn!" laughed Jaggers.
  "Carry on! Nume anìltsan, Ma Pxepxi!" said the Captain as the proceeded.
  "Ayaye, Mam!"  Pxepxi wondered why everyone used the name of a dangerous plant when agreeing with the Captain.  But she followed the Ensigns to their Reydar Station.
  "I've got the beaker that you requested, Ensign.  Pxepxi!  I didn't know you were here!"  Linda Smith had pulled this duty shift aboard the Star Ship.  Pxepxi was happy to recognize the bright red headed woman.  She proudly pointed out the braid which she still wore, inter-woven with her red tress.  Linda handed Frederik Lind the beaker, and two pouches of water to Pxepxi.  Pxepxi didn't understand the next few words except for "nume nga nìprrte"(You learn pleasurably), before she was hurried along by the ensigns.
  Lind placed the glass, the beaker and the three water pouches on a counter top.  "Life moves in waves.  That is why we use Rey dar to measure these waves. (He grinned at his own pun, because Rey in Na'vi means live) "Nari si?"  he pointed to the vibration patterns in a clear water pouch.  "Ey Es Vi engine." He decided against following that train of thought but carefully opened the pouch and filled the glass.  He struck the glass with his fingertip and created a short wave pattern.  "Nari si.  short distance, bounce and return, very fast." Then he filled the larger beaker with two pouches of water. He tapped the beaker and pointed out the longer wave patterns.  "Tse'a, More Far, Bigger wave. Take long time for wave to return."
  "We measure wave patterns between Eywa'eveng and this Star Ship. Nari si? "  He pointed to the wave forms upon a screen.  "We send a sound and get an echo, ngam, sran?
  "Srane! Ngam! Echo. Wave and echo. Fayu lu ftu Eywa'eveng?"  Those things are from Eywa's Child? (Pandora)
   "Eyawr! Correct."
  " Fiu lu volkeino?" That thing is a volcano.
  "Kehe.  Fìtsenge lu ram, ulte fìtsenge lu Ramunong Ayvitra." No this place is mountain and that place is the Well of Souls.
  "Ahhh!"  The shape of the depression was quite visible. The downward looking radar depicted the natural amphitheater formed in the rock. And a little farther away, an awkward star burst pattern was visible.
 "Nari si, Ma Pxepxi," explained Ensign Jaggers. "Aim down. Kan akekll. And he demonstrated a pointing finger from his eyes, downward.  "Set. Kan few. Now. Aim across.  He pushed buttons with one hand and pointed to the image which now appeared to change from a ragged star burst to a series of arches.
 Pxepxi became very excited and jabbered away too quickly for either Frederick or David to understand.  But she was thoroughly entranced with the image.  Frederik Lind looked at David Scott Jaggers and exclaimed, "I think this deserves a printout!"  For the next few minutes, Pxepxi was enthralled to see images transferred onto paper.  She received 3D printouts of the Well and of the Arches, as well as the corresponding radar readouts.  The ensigns spent another several minutes pointing to the radar returns simultaneously tracing the corresponding physical features.
      Pxepxi returned from her session, clutching her precious treasures to her heart.

  431)~  "I found some instructional videos regarding  volcanic eruptions. They are all in Ìnglìsì, but the images will help to explain what we are looking for."  Pxepxi nodded, though she did not understand the words.  But Ensign Jaggers was inserting a shiny disc into a slot and pressing buttons.  "Volkeynoìri sänumvi" (Volcano lesson!) he exclaimed.  He shut off the audio and explained the images which displayed the pressure build up of magma.  The video also displayed the swelling of the crust around and under the magma vent of the volcano for a distance of several miles.  "The greater the pressure, the higher and farther out the swelling.  It is that swelling that YOU will be looking for with the radar."
   "Pelun fì'u syaw MAGMA  äoatskxe slä krra spule wrrpa volkeynoru, fì'u syaw LAVA? (What reason is this called MAGMA under ground but when propelled outside the volcano, this thing is lava?)
   This question took Ensign Jaggers by surprise.  "Fìpawm asìltsan!" (Good question!) He frowned to himself.  "Kxawm lun nì'aw lu krra fì'u spule syaw LAVA!"  (Perhaps the reason only is when propelled, it is called lava.  "Kxawm sute sponoyä syamaw LAVA fì'u, slä sute alahe syaw MAGMA fì'u."  (Perhaps island people called it LAVA, but other people called it MAGMA.)  He was pulling his lip thoughtfully. How was he supposed to say SCIENTIST in Na'vi?  besides  saying Other People?
   "Kxawm sute Samoayä  syamaw fì'u LAVA alunta lì'u LAVA ral SAN Txana SÌK!" (Perhaps the Samoan People called this thing LAVA for the reason that this word LAVA means QUOTE Very Much! UNQUOTE!)
   "That's interesting!  Fìlì'u mì Na'vi ral LAVA?"  What word in Na'vi means LAVA?
   "Ke tslolam oe, I never see Lava before Äie oeri." (My vision) "Kxawm sute sponoyä tsolam.  May be island peoples know."  The Ensigns and Pxepxi spent several hours teaching and learning, of radar imaging and volcanoes and the customs and language of the Na'vi.  They didn't even realize it was lunch time until Aytanin MekNeil Smith  appeared in their doorway, announcing, "Chow Time! Krr a yom syuve, Ma Penga!" Time to eat food, You Three!"
   "Ma Aytanin! Nga lu fìtsenge nìteng! Mi Oeru ngeyä nikrevi!"  (Aytanin! You are here now! I still have your little lock of hair!)  She proudly displayed the white shock of hair braided next to the red shock of hair donated by Linda Smith, the red-haired tech.
   "Oeru meuia!" (I am honored!) exclaimed Aytanin.  (How many years had it been?  Had she worn them continuously since that time? she wondered to herself) Pxepxi watched as crew members changed shift, and soon a small entourage was floating down the corridor towards Little Pandora.  They had timed it just right, because as they descended, the aromas wafted upward.
   "Ma Pxepxi!" Kofi, in his enthusiam, launched himself from the ground and continued soaring at such an extreme velocity, that he actually collided with her.  The blood from his nose remained suspended in mid air.  He was so excited to see her that he barely noticed.  Laughing, they descended akllte, to the ground, where his injuries were tended to.  As they cleaned up, the two began to chatter excitedly, each trying to convey the wonderous things they had learned that day.   As they joined others for wutsu  kxamtrrä (meal of midday) they each realized that they had become the topic of discussion.
   "Here come the two young learners!" announced Kaptyn S'rralta.  "Fìtsenge za'u menumeyu aevan!"  she gushed.  "I understand that Kofi is learning about our watering system, and Pxepxi is learning to identify precursors to volcanic eruptions!"  Her comments were not understood too well, by the young couple. But Pxepxi was still excited about her new lessons.
  "Fra'uti 'arìp fya'o WAVES, Everything moves by means of WAVES.   Light and sound, water and lektriks!  Everything move by means of waves.  We will learn for how to measure waves.  Waves telling how soon Vol-Key-No spule Lava!  And Lava syaw Makma krra lu äokllte!"
   "She got us with that one!" laughed David Scott Jaggers. She wanted to know why the same stuff is called lava when it is propelled outward, but it's called magma when it is underground!"
   They hadn't finished eating when the red-haired Linda Smith descended from the portal above.  "Kapteyn S'rralta, Ma'am.  There is a transmission from the other ISV.  Transit times are only ten minutes now.  You might want to come as soon as you have eaten."
   "That's good news, Smith."  The women were not related, but each had dazzling red hair.  But Linda had shared a lock with Pxepxi.  "Za'u ma Tsmuke!" exclaimed Kaptetn S'rralta,  "Zamunge ngeyä muntxatan nìteng!"  Come my Sister!  Bring your husband as well!"  If anyone had been watching Kofi, his face had gone from disappointment  to elation, at the invitation.  He promised himself that he would do nothing to embarrass his young wife.  Soon they were gliding back to the Bridge where the message was waiting.
   "Ensign Owen Wicks!?' called S'rralta as she entered the Bridge.  "Please play the message from the incoming Ship."
   "Aye, Ma'am." replied  Owen.  "Message will appear on the screen above."
    The message featured the smiling blue face of S'rron West.  Pxepxi undertood nothing of what was said.  But it excited her to see, once again, the woman who had walked upon the another Moon.
    "Parked ISV, and Blue Heart Gate, this is Sharon West, Duty Pilot of the Inbound ISV.  I will update you on our current status concerning the outfitting of our surveillance equipment.  We have fifty mini-satellites that will be spread in a swath 250 miles wide, from the Eastern Sea Clan to 100 miles beyond the other side of the islands that everyone is concerned about.  These one meter square satellites will measure magnetic anomalies, and magmic pressures.  They are also VLF equipped.  Augmenting the mini satellites are two GRAIL satellites to measure the thickness of Pandora's crust.  In addition to this, we have 50 submersible "Sniffing" thermometers for use near any vents that we may find.  For terrestrial use, we will bring 40 seismographs, 20 magnometers, and 25 VLF detection units.  We also have laser drills to bleed off pressures, should that be required.  Please respond with a list of your surveillance and monitoring equipment, where you are currently located in relation to the area in question, and, have you started any broad beam magnetosphere observations?  Perhaps we could get some sort of baseline numbers for the kinds of pressures down there, which might help us out if we start getting precursors."
   Sharon stretched in her seat, and continued, "Do you have any sort of remotely actuated rock drills, laser drills, or mining explosives on your ship?  We might need to Vent the pressure, which would show the Na'vi that explosives CAN be used for a GOOD thing that BENEFITS the People, and that they are not just used for war."
      The Kapteyn, and the Ensigns Lind and Jaggers were very excited by the news.  They conferred quickly with each other. After they had downloaded the equipment list, they decided against  returning to Mini Pandora to finish their meal until the task at hand was completed.  The Flight Engineer, Owen Wicks, handed S'rallta a commset, which she fitted over Pxepxi's ears and fit another one over hear own.
   "Inbound ISV, this is Captain S'rralta of the ISV in GeoSync over Pandora.  You asked about our stores of equipment applicable to our upcoming mission.  I am afraid that the way this ship was configured, we will have some but not all, of the things you would like.  One of our shuttles is completely rigged for both magnetic and infrared studies.  We have two rock drills and three hundred pounds of Solerex. " (plastic explosives)  "It seems as if this ship was being readied to do further scans of Pandora, perhaps other continents, for the RDA to rape of their mineral riches, when the war broke out.  And she was parked in Earth's Lunar orbit when we finally ACQUIRED it.  We had thought that we were the last ship out.  But it seems your ship left four years after we left!  I'm sure that you have some tales to share with us when we finally meet."
   "Concerning our research shuttle,  I can have her launched from our ISV in three hours.  We can start running constant grid searches over the islands in question, to build a magnetic model.  Three hundred miles wide, from the Eastern Sea Clan, to one hundred miles beyond the islands in question."
   "I have someone I would like to introduce to you.  This is the young Na'vi woman who experienced the visions of the volcanic explosions on the islands.  We are training her to run the radar scans to check for magmic preasure build-up.  Major Sharron West, meet Pxepxi.  Pxepxi, you may speak to Major West.  She speaks some Na'vi."
  Pxepxi looked into the blank screen, as S'rralta had done.  She twitched one ear towards Owen Wicks, who was telling her, "Ngal tsun pivlltxe hu Kapteyn Westit, set." (You can speak with Captain West, now.)
   Pxepxi thought it odd to be addressing a blank screen, but pretended to be addressing a person, such as she had seen Captain S'rralta do.
   "Kaltxì, Ma Kapteyn West!  Oe lu Pxepxi, 'ite te Ateyo te Syaksyuk. Oeru meuia pivllte ngahu!  Fìtrr oel nerume fwa ~ totxay I learninng this thinng whitsh is lava antx makma, for being äoklltxe, under ground of Big Water VolKeyNo. I do looking of weyn, draw, rel, of WAVES lektrik. Oeru sunu, to me, I liking this Sci Ents."  She paused for a moment with a thoughtful look on her young face.  "Kxawm, Eywal nari sivi oeru fìtsengit ~maybe Eywa will show to me this place~ where is LAVA!"
   Captain S'rralta's eyebrows popped up.  "It appears that our young Na'vi is offering her services as a spiritual ADF! Eywa can help Pxepxi become an Airborne Direction Finder!"  She placed an affectionate hand on Pxepxi's shoulder, before continuing her address of the blank screen.  "It will be interesting to compare our current radar returns of this area with images of the same area taken by earlier RDA minerology scans.  Eagerly looking forward to reviewing those images from Blue Heart Gate.  We have forwarded our list of equipment in a previous burst emission.  Captain S'rralta,Out!"

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

432)~ Hans Schoeder and Patricia Fenwick were at Blue Heart Gate, looking over the supply lists which had been compiled since the last transmission from the Incoming ISV.
   "These geologic charts are probably going to be a boon to both ISV's while they are searching the waters of the Eastern Sea." Her face was illuminated by the chart projected on the glass table before her.  She had input several miniture charts upon the glass interface device, enlarging them each wih a flick of her fingertips.
   "Don't we have the former RDA Geologist among the Avatars at the Omatikaya Kelutral?" asked Shroeder.  Since choosing Patricia as his mate, he had become familiar with several of the former RDA crew members.  Most of them were part of the Omatikaya, except for his rebel Scorpion helicopter pilots, who were at the Hidden Base near Olo'Zongsteng  Alor. "Wade, isn't it?"
   "I'm surprised that you remember his name!" sputtered Patricia, in amazement.
   "One of my pilot's last name is Wade.  But this other guy, the geologist, is muntxatan of one of Mo'at's tsahik, kefyak?"
   "Srane!  Yes, you are right."  Patricia pursed her lips and searched her memory for a name. "Alekxsi!"  Her name is Alexandra, and goes by Alex.  Or used to!  I think Mo'at invented her pet name!  She was always saying, "Alaksi Alekxsi?"  She smiled to herself remembering the first encounter of the two, here on the Helipad.
   "I wonder how Mo'at is getting on, nowadays?" asked Hans Schroeder.
   "Well, if Mo'at can spare her appretice for one day, we will find out. Jake and Neytiri are bringing Wade and Alekxsi.  They should be here soon.  We dispatched a messenger yesterday when we received the mesage from Captain Sharon West.  You and I have discussed the use of explosives on this volcano, but I am concerned about how the Na'vi feel about this."
   Hans grinned to himself.  He had thought that his idea to invite the geologist was a novel idea, but as usual, Patricia had already thought of it firstm and had him summoned!  "Tse, I have come to learn that the Na'vi easily accepted using tsawtuteyä weaponry against the remnant RDA four years ago!"
   "This might be different, Hans.  They might see this as a direct affront to the Mother.  To Ewya'eveng at least.  They might not like the idea of dropping bombs down her throat."
    "They also do not wish to be destroyed by the volcanic eruption, I'll wager!  But we won't use it if they don't wish us to. I hope they let us evacuate them, at the very least."  He placed his large hand, reassuringly over her own.  He was leaning towards her face for a kiss, when a sharp rap was heard on the door.
   Patricia rewarded her warrior with a quick peck on the cheek before stating, "ENTER!"
   Scott Comstock, of Communications, ducked his head into the doorway and announced, "They're here! Ma'am," and when he noticed Hans, added, "Sir."
   "Ma Neytiri, Ma Jake! Moel mengati Kameie! Did you bring Ma Wade sì Ma Alekxsi?" Patricia accepted them with open arms.
       "Srane!" replied Jake, "They are coming.  I think Alekxsi is giving hugs to her 'nephew',"
   "Empty Glass!" laughed Patricia.  Everyone was familiar with Ricard's nickname and. the Daily Log that Jake had recorded years ago.
   "Yeah, Empty Glass," admitted Jake. "I'm honored! He murmured as he blushed violet.
   "At least he did not name himself Jake Sully, like so many others!" said Neytiri with a sly smile, as Jake turn a brighter shade.
   A polite tapping announced the belated arrival of Alekxsi and Wade.  These two were greeted and embraced warmly also.  Wade's attention was immediately drawn to the charts.  Hans rolled a stool toward him, as all the chair backs had been previously removed for Kxetse Comfort.  (Tails had a way of being pinched or otherwise bent, when sitting in chairs rather than on stools.)  Wade preferred to stand while viewing the charts, though, and offered his seat to his muntxate.
  "I have never seen these charts!" exclaimed Wade.  "I guess there wasn't enough Chatter under the ocean for Selfridge and company."  As he bent closer, his tail shot into the air and flicked excitedly.
   "Do you remember how to read these things, Oeyä Muntxatan?" asked Alekxsi.
   "No problem!  Srane!  There are several vents visible from these charts.  Nari si!  Fìtsenge, fìtsenge, sì fìtsenge."  He pointed to three vents.  "I would love to compare these to the incoming data!"
   "That will be certain, Ma Wade.  We hope that you and Alekxsi will choose to stay at the Old Camp while we are running the simultaneous scans.  That way you can check in each day and read the new data." said Hans.
   Wade nodded vigorously and looked questioningly to his Muntxate.  "Ma Alekxsi, are you OK with this?"  Her concerned expression told him that her thoughts were divided between caring for Mo'at and serving the people.  "You don't have to answer right now.  We'll talk it over."  He turned his attention back to Patricia and Hans.  "Have you got any word from the ISV's, how they plan to monitor this volcanic eruption?"
   "Funny you should mention that, Ma Wade.  We have a message from the Incoming ISV that you should listen to. She pushed a button a said, "Ma Scott, could you please replay the transmission from the Incoming ISV?"
  "Right away, Ma'am.  I will broadcast it into your office." said the voice of Scott Comstock.
~~~~~
      "Parked ISV, and Blue Heart Gate, this is Sharon West, Duty Pilot of the Inbound ISV.  I will update you on our current status concerning the outfitting of our surveillance equipment."
   Six pairs of ears pricked forward attentively as Sharon proposed their plan and outlayed their equipment.   The eyes of Hans and Wade registered amazement and relief.
   "Please respond with a list of your surveillance and monitoring equipment, where you are currently located in relation to the area in question, and, have you started any broad beam magnetosphere observations?  Perhaps we could get some sort of baseline numbers for the kinds of pressures down there, which might help us out if we start getting precursors."
   The eyes of Neytiri and Alekxsi registered polite boredom until the last paragraph was spoken:
   Sharon stretched in her seat, and continued, "Do you have any sort of remotely actuated rock drills, laser drills, or mining explosives on your ship?  We might need to Vent the pressure, which would show the Na'vi that explosives CAN be used for a GOOD thing that BENEFITS the People, and that they are not just used for war."
~~~~~~~~~
   "Pelun pxusor ayu?"  For what reason exploding things? KEHE!  This cannot be good!"  Neytiri responded in the way that Patricia had feared most.
   "Ma Neytiri. Rä'ä txopu.  Do not fear!  Let me explain."  said Wade. as he shot a pleading glace at Jake as well.
   "Tìng mikyun, Ma Neytiri," urged Jake quietly.  "Let Wade explain."
   "IF the vent is plugged it will hold until the pressure builds up and builds up until the VOLCANO explodes.  Very big explosion.  Many people could die.  But if we cause a little explosion inside the volcano, it will make a crack and the lava will spill out rather than burst."  His explanation was illustrated by gestures.  "Where is Ka'alani when I need her!"
   At the mention of Ka'alani's name, Neytiri became suddenly thoughtful.  After Pxepxi's vision, Ka'lani had spent a lot of energy explaining about her experiences with volcanos and lava. Alekxsi was reminding Neytiri of these things.  When Neytiri was somewhat mollified, Wade continued to explain.
   "We wouldn't need to use explosives unless we could tell that there was too much pressure.  Then we would use a little bomb.  We have done this on Earth for centuries."
   "And where is your Earth, Now?" said Neytiri dryly.
   "The RDA  threw that planet out of balance, Ma Neytiri. Ke rey'eng.  There was was no Balance of Life." defended Wade.
   "Perhaps," interjected Alekxsi.  "Perhaps we should ask Eywa what she would have us do?"
   Neytiri nodded solemnly. "We must seek the voice of the Mother."
   "I will fire up the Lefngapa Ikran, now, and take you to the Well of Souls," offered Patricia.
   "Kehe.  I wish to fly there on my own Flesh and Blood Ikran.  I will not be rushed!  But we will go now!"

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

433)~ Tsayri'el had been waiting for this opportunity.  She knew that she was destined for something important when this big ikran had chosen her.  Now, more than anything, her people relied upon her and the strong wings Zupa Tanhì.  The mountain had been rumbling and spewing ash for months now. Each day seemed more intense than the last.  It filled her with pride when her mother, Eyktan Fari'el summoned for her and entrusted her with this mission.  And she was certain that her big ikran would not let them down.

   It had taken the better part of a day to make this flight from her island. She was almost afraid that she had missed her mark.  It was so difficult to fly into the setting sun.  But there it was!  A spit of land jutting into the ocean.  She could see people below, all assembled on that spit.  Were they expecting her?
   She could sense a rush of elation and relief from Zupa Tanhì.  And she could sense the burn in her wing muscles.  It was easy to spot the eyktan of this 'olo.  "Just look for the Red Painted One.  No one seems to know her name, but she is called Eyktan Atumopin."
   Everyone had their hands raised to the setting sun.  But all dropped their hands when they heard her approach.
   "Oel ayngati kameie, I fear that I have interrupted you, but I have an important 'upxare (message) from Eyktan Fari'el.  The mountain on our spono (island) has been rumbling for a season, each day more violent than the last.  We ask if you can help us.  It might be necessary for us to leave our island and we have only a few ikran strong enough for such a long flight.  We beg of you your assistance."
   "Ma 'Ite," said their Tsahik. Lamu'ite.  "We have been experiencing visions of Ram Atxep mìtxampay.  (Mountain of Fire in the Big Water) We weren't certain which island or when this would occur, but we have been preparing for that eventuality."
   "And we will have help from my sawtuteyä soaia!" assured Atumopin.
"Za'u nìprrte'!  (Come!) You must be hungry and thirsty.  Eat with us and we will discuss what we should do."
~~~
   Across the land, Neytiri and Jake were winging their way back to the Omatikaya Kelutral.  It felt good to have the wind in her face once again. Neytiri  embraced Seze Muve around her neck. Second Seze.  As if she could be replaced.  Or replicated.  Oh yes, Jake had told her about that practice on 'Rrta.  People could make a duplicate of a creature, if their favorite ikran died.  Or whatever they had on 'Rrta.  These Ayhumon!  They have the audacity to alter the will of Eywa!  Just like this vol-key-no.  They want to change what Eywa would do by means of their tek-nol-ozhi.  (technology)
   She smiled to herself, thinking of her Mother, and how Mo'at had so carefully pronounced the word, with that crazy sound the ayhumon make; that sound like in Jake's name.
   She looked over her shoulder to see Jake flying on his old faithful ikran. His Toruk had served his purpose in the Battle for the Well of Souls, and had flown off.  HER Jake, a product of Tek-nol-o-zhi. An uniltìrantokx!  And she loved him more than anything.  She thought of Mendllzong and his complete devotion to the Great Mother, and to Mo'at.  He carried her each morning to the Tree of Voices near the new kelutral. An uniltìrantokx!  Teck-nol-ozhi.  She knew that if Jake advocated something, everyone would listen.  But pxusor ayu? (exploding things) What did Jake call then? Freaking Daisy Cutters?  These same exploding things were going to be used to destroy the Well of Souls!  And yet, Jake seemed to think that this would be a good idea!  "JakeSully will have to convince me, also, that this is a good idea!" she muttered to herself and to Seze Muve.
~~~
   The new kelutral soon came into view and their ayikran began their spiral descent.  Many people waved at them, shouting Oel Mengati Kameie!  It was still early in the day, many of the hunters still needed to return from the hunt. They would soon arrive.  Their ayikran (ikrans) bellowed and screeched happily to be in their kelutral.  They flew off to go hunting for themselves after getting scratched and petted by their Blue Two-Legged Ones.
   "Ma Neytiri, riyolun Sa'nok Ko!" (Neytiri, let's go find Mother!) said Alekxsi, who was of the blood of Sylwanin, her very own beloved sister.
   "Nìlun, Ma Tsmuke!"  Of course, my Sister!  She was not Sylwanin, of course, but Alekxsi reminded her so much of Sylwanin.  How appropriate that she is muntxate of Wayt.  He is of the blood of Tsu'tey, and Sylwanin had been intended as his muntxate.  Now they are together, and THIS version of Tsu'tey lacked the harsh arrogance of the previous.  All these thoughts passed through her head in an instant.  Though everyone wished to greet her, they parted the way, knowing where Neytiri intended to go.
   Soon they were seated within the heart of the kelutral in a natural chamber within the root structure.  Mo'at sat upon a moss covered "throne", swathed in the softest of hides.  She allowed her daughters to lavish her with kisses.  It was an indulgence that she would not have endured in her younger years.
   "I thought you would be gone longer, Ma 'Ite. I sense a great trouble. Not for us, but for another clan.  What news do you bring?"
   Norm and Liriel were summoned to join the group.  Jake told of the volcano being observed by Kapteyn Shrralta's ISV and by the incoming ISV, and the plan to divert the lava flow with explosives.
   "Ayhumon always seek to change the nature of the Mother.  Why can you not accept the danger of this Great Mountain of Fire?"
   "Ma Mo'at?  Is it the will of the Great Mother that so many People should die?" asked Jake.  "Should we not do something to cause the hot-rock-that flows-like-water, to flow harmlessly into the sea?"
   "The People will move to safety and then return." said Mo'at calmly.  "They are accustomed to living with a Mountain of Fire."
   "Ma Sa'nok.  This Mountain of Fire is worse than the others.  It is strong like the one of Ayngeyä Pizayuyä." (our ancestors) pleaded Neytiri.
   Mo'at grew silent and thoughtful.  She was quiet for so long that Neytiri feared she had fallen asleep.
   "Ma Jake."  She said at last, and skewered him with her eyes, which had not dimmed in these years.  "We have seen the destruction caused by these explosive things.  Yet you say these things can also help?"
   "Ma Sa'nok," said Jake, sensing her moment of openness.  "We all know that fire can be harmful or useful, depending on the care with which it is used.  It is the same with these exploding things."
   "We need to seek the voice of the Great Mother before we decide.  Slä fpìl oeri fwa nìwotx aysahik sì nìwotx ayeyktan zene lawk 'awsìteng."   (But I think all the sahiks and eyktans should discuss this together.)
   "Ma Mo'at, when we left Blue Heart Gate, Pxati and Hans told us to stay by our talk-fars.  I can summon them all to come to the Well of Souls tomorrow," offered Jake.  "If you wish, I can take you there on my ikran or we can have Hans fly you inside his Lefngapa Ikran."
   Mo'at considered this carefully.  She could relegate this matter to the younger tsahiks, but this was an important matter that she needed to tend to herself.  She did not relish the idea of flying in the belly of the metal beast.  But that option was far more attractive than flying in a net under an ikran. Again her chin had dropped to her chest but this time no one assumed she had fallen asleep.
   "Very well, Ma JakeSully.  Summon the others.  I will rest now."

434)~ Although the Remote Link Sites were no longer in use for Avatars, they were still useful as Communication Sites.  It was puzzling, at first, to hear the annoying ring of the Communication Device.  But each clan leader knew that they might be quickly summoned, and were more or less, expecting a call. And each clan's former Avatars were familiar with the Communication Equipment.  Hidden Base was quick to deploy lefngapa ayikran to the far flung ayolo'.
  Atumopin was grateful to see one alight upon the oceanside cliff.  Tsayri'el was astonished at the idea of riding in the belly of such a noisy thing.  But Tsahik Lamu'ite was reassuring, and her ikran, Zupa Tanhì was exhausted from her long flight.  It didn't take too long to pursuade Tsayri'el to climb aboard the awaiting Samson.
   Eyktan Atumopin spent some time with her own ikran, introducing It to its job of escorting riderless ikrans to the Well of Souls.
   Across the land, ayikran were winding their way toward the Well of Souls.  And so were lefngapa ayikran.  It was easy to recognize, and equally astonishing to see, Nawma Mo'at descending from another lefngapa ikran.  Mo'at was more frail than she had imagined.  But she also had a handsome escort who spoke with a strange accent.  It amazed Tsayri'el to realize that Mo'at's escort was not a born Na'vi, but a former Avatar!  Tsayri'el had so many surprising and unusual experiences in such a short span of time, that her head was spinning. It was so comforting to allow her tswin to merge with the Great Mother at the Well of Souls.
   Ramunong a Vitral, the Well of Souls, beckoned soothingly with it's glowing pink tendrils.  She sensed, rather than watched, the AyNa'vi descend into the hollow which was dominated by Utral Amokri Asawl.  (a giant Tree of Voices)
   This is where the voices of the ancestors could be heard.  This is where each being was enveloped by a sense of unity.  This is where all creatures learned their place in the complex web of life.  The rhythm, the chanting, the rolling motion of bodies moving in time with the chanting, the distilled pink light glowing from the tendrils of the Great Tree, reflected in the iridescent moss and the aysanhì on aytokx aean, created a surge of energy that invited the voices of ancients.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Tsayri'el was familiar with the ancient Way.  When she first encountered it, it was clearly revealed as a historic event. But now she heard it more and more often; from her own tsahik and from her local Tree of Voices. The Ancient songs sometimes revealed images.What was most disturbing is that she could recognize all of the villagers fleeing from the lava flow.  Each time, she was more and more convinced that this event would occur in the future.  The new fissure growing in the side of the volcano seemed to reinforce the eventuality.
   Tsayri'el realized that the shared experience was coming to a close.  She became aware of the voice of a great tsahik. Neytiri, she imagined.
   "Ma Tsayri'el!  These same images were revealed to us in a vision which we shared with a young woman called Pxepxi Ateyo'ite.  What do they mean to you?"
   "I recognize all my Villagers in this vision.  I fear that Eywa is showing us what will come. And I am very afraid. What can you do to help us? My ikran is strong but he could barely make the journey.  And I had no passenger.  How will we get everyone to safety?"
   She could sense Toruk Makto rising to his feet.  She opened her eyes and saw him silhouetted against the sky beyond the rim of the Well of Souls.  He was speaking directly to her.
   "Ma Tsayri'el.  The young woman who shared this vision with us is now riding in the belly of a metal Star Ship of our ayhumon alu ayeylan. humans which are friends.  She is learning to use the teknologi of ayhumon to look down and see this volkeyno.  It seems that Eywa has brought our friends to help us.
   "We have three Nawma Lefngapa Ayikran, Star Ships, circling Eywa'eveng right now.  Two have brought our mipa ayeylan, our new friends and family.  THe Third left 'Rrta just as that place was destroyed.  Yet Eywa has spared them and brought them here.  On this Mipa Star Ship, are the soaia of Atumopin.  Do you not think that it is the will of Eywa that these ayhumon would arrive now, to help our People?
   "They can help you move all your people to safety, if they are willing to fly in the belly of lefngapa ayikran.  They can cause the volkeyno to flow away from your villages.  And they can help to heal if anyone becomes injured. I say we should let the mipa soaia help us! "
   There was murmuring among the ayeyktan and aysahik.  Tsayri'el, the daughter of the Island Clan leader, was grateful when Eyktan Atumopin rose to her feet.
   "Mawey livu Ma Na'vi!  The ayhumon that we know have proven themselves again and again, that they are far different than the RDA.  I know that my new family members all love the ocean. Aynga syaw lu Sutan Ao Txampxay and they wish to live UNDER the Sea.  They are saddened by the loss of the sea creatures of 'Rrta.  Their hearts are very strong.  I agree that we should let My New Family Members help the Island People."
   Neytiri took one step to stand beside Jake.  "Ma Jake.  I am afraid for the use of exploding things.  But if you trust these humans, then I do also."
   The look of relief upon the face of JakeSully was brief, and was followed by a look of determination as he faced the ayektan and aysahik.  "No one knows exactly when a volcano will explode, but we know that this volkeyno has become active and angry."
   Tsayri'el could not help her anxiety and blurted out, "All our drying racks and our shelters are tossed to the ground each time the volkeyno shrugs its shoulders."  She realized that she was interrupting the great Toruk Makto and cast her eyes downward in apology.  "We have lost two days in travel and in coming here.  I fear for my people."
   Atumopin joined her in concern. "Fro our clan, we can see a great smoke rising from the Great Water.  But we cannot see the island.  You are indeed a far flight.  We would need a whole host of Toruks to rescue the people.  Instead, we should send lefngapa ayikran. NOW!"
   At this point, a chorus of approval was shouted among those gathered.  Jake was surprised at the whole-hearted approval from the group.
   "If we are all in agreement, then I will fly immediately to Blue Heart Gate and let them know that we want their assistance.  We will send all the lefngapa ayikran to the Eastern Sea Clan and to Tai's Mipa 'Olo by the Sea.
   "Perhaps we should send people to help the Islanders when they have come to our land.  We must find for them a Kelutral and feed them." said Neytiri with grim determination.  "Each olo' should send some people to help in this manner."
   Suddenly the Well of Souls burst into activity.  Each eyktan and tsahik climbed out of the Hollow, and were escorted to their awaiting lefngapa ayikran, and each left for their own 'olo, excited with new found purpose.  "Eywa ayngahu!"  Called Jake and Neytiri.
   Mendllzong gathered Mo'at into his arms.  "Vell!  Ma Yawnetu.  Are we going to the Omatikaya Kelutral, or to the Blue Heart Gate?" It wasn't long before a Samson was winging toward Blue Heart Gate. Among the passengers was the Great Mo'at.
Ateyo Te Syaksyuk
 435)~ The interior of Blue Heart Gate was cold, as usual.  And as usual, all the Na'vi were provided with warm bath sheets and shower clogs, Avatar sized, of course.  Mo'at had chosen to accompany Jake and Neytiri into the Talk-Far Place.  She could have deferred and had been taken to Spuwina 'Awm, the Old Camp near Blue Heart Gate.  But she was excited and curious about the methods which the ayhumon would take against the Volkeyno, for the sake of the Island People.  She was also aware that her attitude would be contagious among the Na'vi. And the young woman from the Island People would also need to see that the Great Mo'at stood unphased by the ayhumon and their ways.  She tucked away her misgivings and allowed Mendllzong to set her feet upon the floor.  Pxati made certain that she had a comfortable chair in which to sit.  She curled her Kxetse, her tail across her thigh and greeted the Na'vi who worked at Blue Heart Gate. (formerly Avatars themselves).
   Of these Avatar/Na'vi she recognized the man called Alex. He was overjoyed to see her, and almost forgot to greet her properly.  But JakeSully seemed impatient to relay this new message to the ISVs which were encircling Eywa'eveng.  Alex sobered up and flipped a switch.
   "Incoming ISV, stand by for an important message from Our Toruk Makto."
   JakeSully shot Alex half a smile and stepped closer to his transmitter, saying, "Kaltxi, Ma Frapo.  I have some good news.  It took a lot of passionate discussion and a meeting of aysahik at the Well of Souls, but all the ayeyktan and aysahik agree that the JUDICIOUS use of explosives WILL be entrusted to you.  It speaks of their great trust in my opinion of your collective capabilities, so you guys, Don't Let Me Down!  It sounds like you know your stuff, concerning geology and the use of explosives.  There are some things you might want to know:
"ONE.  Patricia Fenwick, the Operations Manager of Blue Heart Gate, has activated the first ISV on which she arrived.  It was originally slated to be a very small scale mining operation.  It is outfitted as such, with mining equipment, such as thirty AMP suits, and 20,000 pounds of "Freaking Daisy Cutters", as I like to call their explosives.  The entire crew has been reactivated and are currently rehearsing their duties at their stations on board the ISV.
"TWO. Our chief geologist, Dr. Wade Lutzow has been reviewing the Undersea Surveys, which go back fifteen years.  He is anxious to compare notes with the current scans of Kapteyn Srralta Tamas'.  He looks forward to a video confab as soon as possible."
"THREE. A messenger was dispatched from the island in question, with a request from their eyktan, for assistance with possible evacuation.  They are experiencing MANY tremors and observing daily lava flows from two places on the volcano.  The three ISVs should be able to view them with flyovers.  You should now be receiving downloads of previous RDA Geologic Survey Maps.  JakeSully. Out."
     Dr. Wade Lutzow was conferring with someone at a different console.  He looked up from the imagery and called to Jake.
   "Ma Jake!  This graphic has been downloaded from the ISV.  It shows how volcanos work."
  "Fayrel 'usarìp kulat atxkxet äo txampayit.  These moving images reveal land under the Great Water.  These are the images that Pxepxi has been studying to learn about volcanos!  Wade didn't realize how much knowledge he took for granted.  We was trying to explain about tectonic plates, when Mo'at asked of him, "Ma Weyt, do you mean to say that Eywa'eveng is made of pieces and that these pieces are moving?"
   "Ma Nawma Mo'at," interrupted Tsayri'el.  "I can tell you that YES, these pieces are moving!  Even before the fire came from the mountain, the land was moving!"
   Mo'at smiled at the young woman, and motioned Wade to continue.
   He took care in explaining the animation.  And found that he had to curb his enthusiasm.  "If there is a high amount of silicates in the Earth, um, in the rocks, it corks up the top.  And the lava has to push up very hard.  It makes a very big explosion and could possibly destroy the entire island. "Skä'ä spono nìwotx!"  The diagram exploded obligingly.
   "Slä."  But, he went on to explain, if we allow some of the lava to come from the side, the pressure will not build up too high. He pointed to a vent on the side of the volcano.  As lava flowed out, the cut-away diagram revealed the  subsiding magma within the volcanic chamber, as well.  "This is where we would use the Explosive things."
   "Freaking Daisy Cutters" people murmured.  They had all heard Jake tell of the plan to destroy the Well of Souls.
   Jake interrupted. "These ayhumon know just how much to use. They are very smart and very careful."
   "Ma Nawma Jake?" asked Tsayri'el,  "Pefya fkol omum fwa fìvolkeynoru lu KORK?" (How will they know that this volcano will have cork?)
   "Ma Tsayri'el, oeyä 'ite lu mìfa Ey Es Vi mìtaw, pxiset." My daughter is inside the ISV in the sky, right now.  She is helping the ayhumon to measure the pressure.  She will tell us!"  Ateyo declared proudly.  She might have overstated the duties, but the explanation was taken with satisfaction.
   "I can tell my Mother, Eyktan Fari'el, that the ayhomon and the Na'vi will help us!"
Ateyo Te Syaksyuk
436)~ High above Eywa'eveng, the ISV of S'rralta Tamas was monitoring the magnetosphere.  S'rralta was standing near the station where her technicians were teaching the young Na'vi woman to read the pulsating lines that indicated the state of Pandora's environment.  That's where the excitement began.
   "Auwe, Ma Teyvìt!  Nari si fì SPIKE!" Pxepxi's language was a melange of Hawaiian, Na'vi and technospeak, but her finger indicated the abrupt departure of the line from its previous track.  "Lolu volkeyno?"  (Is it the volcano?)
   "Srane, Ma Pxepxi." said David Scott Jagers.  "Frederick!  Are you getting this?"
   "Nìlun!" shouted Frederick, perhaps too excited to keep his voice down.
    Captain Tamas remained level headed.  "I want video playback, ASAP on all view screens."  She had placed her StarShip in geosync above the troubled Island last week when the scans began in earnest.  The video returns were at first nothing but grey screen.  It was obvious that most of the viewing area was being covered with a thick blanket of ash and smoke.
But one area was clear.  An immense draft of hot air had pushed a hole through the heavy smoke.  Peering down through this hole, one could see fiery lava beginning to gush forth from a slit in the side of the mountain.
   "Lieutenant Garbacki, can you patch me through to the other ISV's and to Blue Heart Gate?"
   "Right on it, Ma'am."
   "Make sure that the Incoming ISV also gets this feed. And this video. Are we ready?"
   "It's ready for you in THREE... TWO... ONE!"  Dale had anticipated the need to convey this data to the other ISV's and Hell's Gate. Scratch that. Blue Heart Gate.  Even before Command had decided it was necessary, he and his communication system, were ready.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Patricia Fenwick and Hans Schroeder were in the Control Room at Blue Heart Gate when the incoming video was transmitted.  Hans let out a low whistle when he saw the feed of the eruption below.  He turned to his communications experts, Alex Gomez Gordon and Scott Comstock.
   "Our fleet of ISVs are getting this transmission too, in a few minutes.  I'm sure we will all want to Confer.  Get them on the horn for me. Please."
  He shot his muntxate a glance and she returned an approving nod.  He was learning how to speak with civilians!
   "All ISVs.  This is Colonel Schroeder from Blue Heart Gate.  We trust that you have witnessed the current blow from the volcano.  I know  this is NOT the BIG ONE, yet, but we are commencing evacuation immediately.  All the remaining Samsons have been deployed, they number eight.  We have enough fuel to fly one shuttle out there, but it is unclear how many Na'vi will need to be rescued.  Take station over the islands, but Do NOT commence deployment of explosive devices.  REPEAT:  Do NOT deploy the explosive devices until we have given the All Clear."

   Jack Sully viewed the activity at Blue Heart Gate from the Control Room.  All was was hurried and orderly, but not frantic.  Jake Sully made certain that each Samson had one Na'vi aboard.  That was essential, because as far as he could remember, none of the Island People had ever seen a lefngapa ikran, a metal banshee.  Eyktan Atumopin and Tsahik Lamu'ite had already demonstrated that their presence and comfort of riding in one, had caused Tsayri'el enough courage to ride in it also.
   He could see the largest ikrans leaving the treetops of Spuwina 'Awm.  Suddenly, he missed the presence of his Toruk.  He would be able to carry at least two passengers, if they were strong enough to hold on!  He knew that Dark Lake Clan would show up with aysäo alu tusäftxu, tools which are woven. Nets.  In fact, many clans already had incorporated these into their compliment of tools.  Everyone was amassing at the Clan of the Easter Sea.  It seemed to be an appropriate jumping off point.  He watched Eyktan Atumopin give a hand-up to Tsayri'el as they climbed aboard a Samson.
   Scanning around the tarmac, he saw other Samsons likewise being boarded.  And further beyond, at the place where the gate opened up to Fya'o Spuwina 'Awm, the path to the Old Camp, he could see none other, than his immediate soaia, Neytiri, Mendllzong and old Mo'at climbing into the shuttle bus.  He wondered why they had chosen to leave the safety of the Old Camp to venture out.  He would know soon enough.  Mendllzong was driving the bus, skirting its way around the perimeter of the tarmac.
   Eventually, the party was escorted into the Control Room, wrapped in the bath sheets that Deborah Webb had provided.  Everyone gestured from their heads, "Oel ngati kameie," and embraced.  But it was Mo'at who spoke first.
   "Ma ZheykSully.  Krra ngal tswayon ne spono, samunge oe ngahu."  When you fly to the island take me with you.  Ayoe fizayu zene 'ì'awn awsìteng!" (We ancient ones must remain together.)
   "Outstanding!"
   "She would not be content to remain here," remarked Neytiri.
   "Ayhoakte, the Old Ones, might fear riding in the belly of Lefngapa Ayikran.  My presence will convince them." averred Mo'at.
   "Ma Nawma Mo'at.  You are an amazing woman." gushed JakeSully, amazed and grateful for her willingness to participate.
   Before long, Soaia JakeSullyä were aboard a Samson, heading for the Clan of the Eastern Sea.

437)~    "ISVs and Blue Heart Gate, this is Major Sharon West.  We have just seen the eruption of the volcano on the Island that you have also probably seen.  Because of our distance, we can't see the detail of the event as well as you can.  So if you can please send us the data and reports that you have, it would help us a lot!!  Be advised that we are now heading for a Geo Sync directly over the Islands, so please guide us in if you are already on station over the islands.  Our shuttles will be at your disposal as soon as we place the monitoring satellites on our approach to the islands.  We will be awaiting any information or data that you can send us.  Major West. Out."
   "Major Sharon West of the Incoming ISV.  This is Major S'rralta Tamas' in Geo Sync over the volcano in question.  Be advised, we have uplinked our video surveillance of volcanic activity, and will keep your ship in constant feed loop of video and telemetric feedback.  A massive rescue operation is under way.  We are advised to NOT to deploy ordinance until said mission is accomplished.  But when you arrive in GeoSync it is advisable to launch your battery of satellites.
   "Please note the entry coordinates which have been supplied to you.  Will place you in the 'Rocking Chair' between our ship and the New Earth ship which was outfitted with explosives.  Major S'rrata Tamas'. Out.

Ateyo Te Syaksyuk

438)~ The pilots of the Hidden Base were gathered around a map, under a large, old, RDA military tent.  They had all gathered on one of the cliffs near the Clan of Eastern Sea.  Although each preferred flying their sleek Scorpions, they had each been assigned a Samson, for obvious reasons of transporting many Na'vi.  Tai Tae Ao had been appointed by Jake as Operational Logistics Chief and Mission Coordinator of the Rescue Effort.
   She stabbed her finger on the map, saying, "Here we are on the Seaward side of the isthmus of the Clan of the Eastern Sea."  She slid her finger to the right.   "Here is Tsayri'els volcanic island, three hundred miles east by north east at heading Zero Five Zero.  The map indicates other islands and especially this large one at heading Zero Three Seven one hundred and fifty three miles from Spono Tsayri'elä.  This is probably the island that she spoke about.  We will refer to this Island as Sanctuary. These topos (topographic maps) indicate that it is sufficiently high in elevation from sea level to avoid any tsunamic activity or tidal surge.  From what she tells me, this island is mostly barren, by Na'vi standards, and lacks a sufficient harbor or beaches for settlement.  But it is upwind of the volcanic island, thus will provide shelter also from the fallout of ash.  And though it has no trees, it has grasslands, fruit shrubs and is populated by large lizards which will provide sustenance for the people until they can return home."
   Jake was rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Three hundred MILES, not kliks. Can your choppers make it that far?"
   "Ma Jake!" said Tai. "ANY of our aircraft can make it there with twenty percent of fuel to spare.  And see this small island here?  Flat-topped and 200 feet above sea level.  We can station our shuttle here, as a fuel tanker.  40 miles from the volcano. Fuel up each aircraft in succession and send them off to complete the mission.  Major Shiralta has one of her shuttles rigged as a tanker now, as we speak.
   "So what are we going to refer to this island as, Stop and Go?" smirked Jake.
   "Kehe!" said Tai with a wicked grin.  'Pit Stop Island!'  she drew from her love of 20th century auto racing.  All her pilots 'got' the reference.
   "Ma Tai, oe tsun kä ka ne spono Pit Stop, kefyak?" asked Ateyo, anxious to participate. I can go across to Pit Stop Island, right?
   "Kehe! Ma Ateyo.  Alìm nì'ul. It is too far.  Kehe! fpìl Atanvi!"   No! For the sake of Atanvi, counselled Jake.  "Slä ayoeng kìn tìsrung ngeyä."  But we need your help.  "Liyu peya sute ohakx sì angeyn."  There will be many people hungry and tired.  Ngal zene vezeyko taronpongut alu yaron fpìl sute nìwotx."  You must organize hunting parties for which to hunt for the sake of all people.  And you must not let Atanvi and the other ikrans follow the choppers. They must stay and help you hunt!"
   Ateyo nodded vigorously.
"Srane!  Oeru lu tìtslam.  To me is understanding.  Aye Aye, Ma Jake!"
Ateyo trotted off to find Meykir, Twiti, Sänon, Narate, and others to organize into various parties.
   Tai snagged Ateyo by the tewng and exchanged a quick kiss and a forehead bump, before sending her off.  She addressed all her pilots first.  "Before we get airborne, it is imperative that you each spend time with your ikran.  Show them that they need to stay here with Ateyo and Atanvi.  We are Skids Up in ten minutes.  Ma Jake Canbolat:"  Tai turned to one of the guys who had named himself in Honor of JakeSully.  "Contact Captain Shiralta and find out when and if she has deployed that Fuel Tanker/Shuttle.  Please."  She shared a grin with Colonel Schroeder, laughing at herself for issuing the command with the word, Please!
   "I'll command the Air Wing, Major Tai," assured Colonel Schroeder.  "But I'd like to borrow your Door Gunner for his muscles.  We will need to salvage as much of their canoes and equipment as possible."
   "I'll coordinate the air traffic on Pit Stop Island," offered Pxati.  That Air Tanker will get there before I do!  I hope that the sonic booms at re-entry don't add to the fears of the People."
   "We will have to deal with that at a later date, Ma Pxati." said Hans with a worried look on his face.  But he turned abruptly to Tai and said,
   "Za'u, Ma Tai. Let's talk with our ayikran."
   Within ten minutes, the rotory flex wings were spooling up.  Tai watched as they flew off on a heading of 050.  And Tai could see Ateyo and Atanvi leading the taronpongu in the direction of their hunt.  She sat herself next to Jake Canbolat in the tent that served as the Comm Shack.  He handed her a pair of headphones in order that she monitor all frequencies.

439)~ Dr. Wade Lutzow was both disappointed and elated.  He had to admit it:  he had gotten used to sleeping next to Alekxsi every night!  This would be the first time in eons that they had been separated.  They weren't in each other's hip pockets, so to speak, 24/7.  But tonight she would be elsewhere, rescuing the islanders from an erupting volcano.  She had an affinity toward Those from the islands.  Her purple skin tones indicated a hidden heritage, through the lineage of Mo'at, in some manner.
   It was also true that this was a singular event in which his expertise could be invaluable.  In a few minutes, he would be facing other scientists from off-world in a ConFab.  He was anxious to share his new discovery.  He had noticed something in the underwater topographic maps that was of huge strategic importance in the resolution of their volcanic plight.  If only he had Eyes under the ocean!  He stepped out of his office, in frustration, just to air out his brain.  The clatter of the door mechanism caused all eyes to swivel onto him.  He stood in his doorway, overlooking the Control Room of Blue Heart Gate.
   Empty Glass, that is, Rikard, got to his feet immediately.  The young man was a favorite friend of Alekxsi's.  If fact, she referred to him as her nephew.  He approached Wade, with, "You have a perplexed look on your face."
   "You are right, E.G.  Remember what I told you about on those charts?  I was wondering whether you and Alex Gomez Gordon have fabricated that underwater camera yet?"
   Empty Glass entered the office behind Wade.  His office was dominated by a large glass table, which was, of course, the display monitor for Wade's geographic charts and maps.  Wade walked over, enlarged a portion with a flick of his fingertips and pointed out the feature in question.
   Empty Glass, gave out a long, low, whistle. (His name, of course, was based on a quote revealed in Jake's original diaries.) "This is what you were telling us about!  Srane! We have been working on the prototype!  We already have the pressurized capsule being fitted with radio guidance.  The fabricators just brought it up a few minutes ago. Alex has been doing some last minute configurations on it."
   "Bring it along, we will be starting the ConFab in a few minutes."
   "We were about to get you.  The underwater camera is positioned in front of the transceiver now.  We are ready for you!"
