Prologue: Creating an Enemy

For years upon years I and my colleague, Kiratì have worked on the project. Relying on prosthetics and cyborg technology to connect to devices and to simply successfully hunt the increasingly evasive animals on the planet, our race, the Nvv'i, have always endeavored to leave posterity some method to fend for themselves without cumbersome machines. We always wanted to be able to access our vast repository of information stored in our global communications network without ugly, long wires extending out from brain implants. Connection usually resulted in brief unconsciousness and a painful fall to the floor - most of us called the connection "tsa hey lu", which means "it is painful." To control wild animals with our brain implants meant even more agony with a clumsy adapter connected to the tswyìn of the animal which would mean slow, painful death for the animal over weeks by electric shocks due to adapter conversion errors. Kiratì and I have finally overcome this difficulty - we have formulated a genetic modification to make our offspring completely compatible with our computer systems and with the wildlife directly with a biological brain extension. We joked that it was a tswyìn, which usually only belonged to animals. More importantly, these genetically modified descedents of us would have much better athletic capabilities than we have, enabling them to run long distances and hunt for extended periods of time without tiring out.

We tested the genetic modification on a few hundred volunteers from the Nvv'i capital of Pxikira. Their engineered children grew up in the largely uninhabited plains in a primitive village we built for them, left to adapt to their new bodies and live without the help of our advanced technology. Things however, did not go on plan. Apparently, a spy from the terrorist movement wa' Kyelku has launched a plan to usurp the Nvv'i government. Implanting a memory control system inside the neural network of the newly created life-forms, wa' Kyelku has turned our creation into our enemy. By wiping out all memory and implanting strong hate feelings for technology and the Nvv'i, wa' Kyelku has ammassed a strong army from the growing population of new life-forms. On the other hand, the Nvv'i, never having fought a war for 5,000 years, doesn't even have even the most basic of defense force. The fate of the planet lies in the balance...

NOTE: If you didn't catch the meaning, the newly created genetically engineered lifeforms are the Na'vi we know of!

CHAPTER 1

Paragraph 1

"Nìfkam ta te' Kapxay Safnay'itaµ!!!" the yelling of the Tsanbonuyë åEyqtan, or squad leader, woke me up from the extremely cramped metallic bed I was sleeping in. I hated it when he called me my full name - it meant that he was really angry at me. "Yes, we don't have roll call for you intelligence gathering scum, but that doesn't mean that you can sleep like that!" he yelled at me. I remembered my job today - interrogating the wa' Kyelku informants. And it was not just my job today - I'm sure I've been in that interrogation room for every day since I was drafted by the Nvv'ië Zongolo', or Nvv'itu Defense Force. Whether it is informants, prisoners, or suspected spies, the squad leader never forgot to push me in. I'm sure that even the harshly interrogated prisoners felt way better than I did. At least they only needed to be in that dreadful room for 2 hours at most.

Paragraph 2

The Tsanbonuyë åEyqtan instructed me to cut the neural adapter of the informant. I always thought this to be a cruel practice, but it was usually necessary. wa' Kyelku could easily transmit a "suicide signal" to the informant and kill him. Fortunately, the informant told me, Ke kina nga! and grounded his cable to an insulating socket. Clearly, he did not want his superiors to kill him! Before I even started the interrogation process, the helpful informant pulled a scrap of metal from his pocket. The marks of the stylus were already fading, but I could make out the words:
