G20 Protestors Smash Windows; World Leaders Under Siege at Hellsgate Summit

Protesters turned violent today, as leaders from Earth's 20 developed nations and the colonies on Pandora arrived in Hellsgate for the annual G20 summit. Anarchists and anti-interglobalization activists gathered in downtown Hellsgate where various groups, including delegates from several local indigenous communities, planned to have a People's Summit to counter the financial meeting. A rogue group of protesters, known as the Black Bloc, separated themselves from the main group to wreak havoc on Hellsgate's main retailers.

Police and RDA security officials fired tear gas and rubber bullets in an attempt to disperse the rioting crowd. Five arrests were reportedly made.

The protesters could be heard chanting "Na'vi 'awstengolyem, kawkrr lu [defeated]" - roughly, the people united will never be defeated - as they marched down 82nd and Main, shortly before the riot broke out this afternoon.

Earlier in the week, head of RDA security Allan Quaritch made a statement regarding the protesters and the heightened Hellsgate security.

"The arrival of the G20 summit to Hellsgate is a momentous occasion, and should provide a boom in the local economy," Quaritch said. "Of course, we welcome dissenting voices as well. Unfortunately, there is a security threat with so many world leaders in one place, so naturally, we will have to increase our watchfulness and readiness in the event that a terrorist attack does take place."
