My first (er... second) attempt at Na'vi fiction (one small scene)

[Kaltxì Palulukan!]

Ralu, Ansìt, and Le'tu we all playing when Jake came back from fishing. "Sempu! Sempu!", the Na'vi children all chimed happily, even though, in truth, Ansit was really the child of another couple, and Ralu's "best friend ever," as Jake had taught him to say. Jake set his catch down and took the time to hug and wrestle with each one in turn. Ralu chirped "Sempu! I have made up a song! I used the mal- mal- 'odee you used to sing sometimes. Come listen!" Jake found a nearby fallen tree to sit on as the children quickly lined up and Ralu (now 7), started singing in broken 'ìnglìsì:

"I Tawtute, I speak 'ìnglìsì!
I fly from far away and I chop down a tree!"

Le'tu shrieked horribly and Ralu laughed outloud as he made chopping motions, as if swinging an axe, at the knees of Ansìt, who dutifully grabbed his throat and started gagging, crying out, "Oe terkup! Oe terkup!", and staggered around, coughing and wheezing. Ralu stopped and patiently waited for his tsmukan to finish his death scene (which went on for another few seconds of bemoaning his fate), before resuming his song:

"...I am demon! I kill my san--, s-- mommee,
ulte set Pandora live sì I attack Na'vi!"

On this last note he shoved Le'tu to the ground and everyone laughed heartily. Jake called out, "mìNa'vi!", and Ralu had just enough time to start:

"Oe Tawtute! Oel plltxe 'ìnglìsì!"

when a shriek of rage permeated the forest. Neytiri grabbed Ralu by the ear and shouted, "Why you push your sister? What are you, some demon animal? You know better!"

Ralu, terrified, but unwilling to take blame for something he did not do pointed at his laughing sister and said, "But Sanu! We were playing a game. Oe Tawtute! Oe Vrrtep kawng! It was just a song sanu!"

This did not loosen Neytiri's grip on his ear as her eyes bored holes into each child, as if she could see truth through some supernatual power. Suddenly she turned back to Ralu. "Song? what song? Where did you learn such foul txum words?" At this all of the children laughed and pointed at Jake, who was sneaking away to find his ikran. He knew he would be sleeping in the aerie tonight.

That's a good start, Kaltxi. Hopefully you can either expand it or maybe use it as an idea for another short story.

I figured hen it came to her kids singing demon words (think of her experience with the colonel specifically), she might be a bit testy--and really, life with Jake. you *know* it's got to be fun. He may "want to be a Na'vi" but he's got a wicked sense of humor.

Nice segment Kaltxi!  You really made Jake like himself...especially with the kids. Keep up how it came along and I hope to see another "attempt." (More like Success!)

And WIP's. . .

Yes--several. But as to Avatar specifically:

Podcast should hopefully go live this weekend (finally), KP! merchandise here (cute cartoon thanator tee shirts, mugs, and totebags to sell on LN to help pay for LN hosting). Um... also, oh yeah--new cover for the "Easy Way to Learn Na'vi" activity book and maybe a revision of it at some point. "Maybe." I am counting on people, and some of them have dropped the ball. Also, I need to afford new layout software for that. What else... Just trying to get someone to make an Avatar spoof comic and adding cast members to the pdocast. Oh, and that means simple/goofy websites to help drag people to LN via the podcast and iTunes.

Basically I am working pretty much full time to bring new members to LN and help them have fun once they are here.

But as to stories and songs: I have some in my head, but I work best in collaboration, so as I am not working with anyone on these, nothing is happening (sorry).

I would want to help with the podcast, but due to my knee...I get on the Internet at the latest times since I sleep all day to ignore the pain.  And for publishing software, I could suggest Adobe InDesogn CS3/CS2 (You can find that cheap now since their out of date)

As you can see in the top right corner of the page--the new tee shirt has finally gone up. That took a while. And yeah, I am looking on Amazon for bargain I.D. copies, since I don' trust ebay to have "real" copies.

Hopefully I'm not "necroposting" as some people call it. I hope you continue to write, Kaltxì Palulukan! I can definitely see Jake being like that. Can't wait to see more!

I keep (read: occasionally) wanting to go back and flesh out that scene--or better yet, have someone who is good with a camera grab some kids and film it. It would be funny just for the "Huck' Finn" (Tom Sawyer... Mark Twain--two brats growing up on the Mississippi) aspect. That and seeing Jake trying to sneak away.

But tyvm. I finally got my layout program issues solved, so I am going back into writing/book creation soon.

WOOT! I can't wait to be reading it, Kaltxì Palulukan. I really enjoyed envisioning Jake scurrying away.  Rutxe, RUTXE, add on or write a different story. They are very entertaining.
