Hey, I just had a thought. ( I know, rare :) ) Do the Na'vi like chocolate. And some people have commented about them them resembling cats. Do they like catnip? I'm writing a story and was wondering if maybe I could make chocolate like super tasty to them. What do you think?

They like a particular fruit that may very well have a sugar like compound in it similar to natural fructose (considerably less sweet than sucrose or high fructose).  It is possible that a refined sugar may be too strong for them, and a bit unlikeable, you would have to make an equivalent confection using the local plant life and a less potent sweetener.

There is not a currently known analogue to the cocoa bean within the processing of Pandora plants, but there could be one to find in some as yet undetermined expedition.  "The Quest for Chocolate!"

The Aztecs figured out the cocoa plant first more or less here on earth (1000 - 1400 BC?).  Sweetening is a bit more recent.

For a Na'vi equivalent, they would just need the right plant, and an interest in modifying the flavor a bit.

well, I remember another story a while back that I read called A Mote in God's Eye. by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournell. The aliens in there turned out to be massively addicted to chocolate, and it seemed like a good substitution for cofee. see http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5666948/1/Never_give_a_Navi_coffee

it would be a laugh if somethign simalar happened.
