I wrote this a while ago, after I saw Avatar for the second time, I believe.  I hope you enjoy it.

Stars On An Ocean Sky

The mighty tree, rope-like branches shining with a
lavender glow, bathing the ground, hanging to
the earth, a warm shelter of hundreds encircling
the trunk, ancient, massive, gnarled, beautiful

A place of peace, of love
Silence floats on the air,
warmly enveloping any
being who sets foot in this
holy place

Above it all, a velvet sky
keeps watch
Below it, the earth dances
with emerald light

The woman is silent in her approach
Her gait is soft and sure, that of a hunter,
her body thin and lithe, bare feet touch
earth, but make not a sound

Her features are smooth, sculpted,
yet free, unrestrained as wind, rain

Long black locks cascade down her back
Yellow flower petals, delicately intertwined, hover in the gentle cascade,
and a thick braid hangs past the free flowing hair

Tiny lights glow softly in patterns across
her smooth, deep blue skin,
stars on an ocean sky

She enters the shelter of the branches,
cups two of them in her hand with
precise care, presses their tendril shapes
softly against her cheek,
lips shifting into a smile,
yellow eyes a sea, swimming

The other hand lifts her braid
The tendrils at the end fasten,
join with the branches,
tsahaylu

She is one
Minds join her's, voices
drifting in harmony, embracing
her at the very core, a touching of souls
She is one

Searching for his voice
"Father"
Gone on, but never gone
She feels his presence, a warm
caress, dry leaves, morning sun
"Daughter"
For a short time, he lives,
lives within her
Gone on, but never gone

His presence departs, now
one of the many that are a part
of her
She breaks tsahaylu

Now she is empty, alone
under the great tree, loss
still cutting, widening the empty space

She hangs her head, ears fold back
She submits herself to grief, rushing
into her like a vile tide
Her eyes, that deep yellow, swim,
But do not spill over
Unmoving, a statue among the
sheltering branches

Someone approaches, she doesn't turn
It's Jake, she knows his footsteps,
curious, unhesitant

Her tail twitches when he
lays a hand on her shoulder
She turns into his arms, rests
her head on his shoulder, a
soft stone

He holds her tight, one hand
on her head, caressing her hair, flowing velvet,
One hand on her back, a steadying force
Finally, her eyes spill over

He holds her tighter,
she presses her cheek against his,
and he responds in kind
Together, in the shelter of the tree,
the river of her grief runs its course

An eternity passes,
why let go?

Still embracing, they
look into each other's eyes,
deep gold
The tiny lights sparkle against
their blue skin, like finely tossed stars

He caresses her cheek, and
she smiles, a wide smile, warmth
Inside her, a flower blossoms,
fed by joy, by love

"Oel ngati kameie," he says.
She laughs: his accent
A smile, slightly sheepish,
spreads across his face

Laughter gone, she speaks, "I see you."

Pulling tighter, they press
their foreheads together
Among the branches, like
the night they became one,
eyes locked, warmth blossoming
in their gaze

His eyes close
Her eyes close

Their lips meet, shifting,
caressing, dancing subtly
He caresses her hair, pulling
her even closer
She grasps his other hand,
squeezing gently

They rub noses, tingling
Kissing her neck, a small sigh escapes
Their feelings flow together, permeate
the air, ears flick and fold, tails curl
Everything is forgotten in this moment,
save the flower, fed by joy, by love

Hidden among the sheltering branches,
they become one, two silhouettes, one,
under the night sky

Nice!  Now there's just the tiny task of translating it into Na'vi.... :p

Thanks for the positive comments guys!  :)  I don't think I'm quite up to the task of translating this into Na'vi though...  :P

"Oel ngati kameie."

I believe that would be pretty un-doable, even though I would encourage the brave soul that were to try this. Also I like your sig ;) but that's a little off-topic isn't it? Eywa ngahu.

I think it would look great translated as much as possible. As it stands, i use as much Na'vi in my normal speech as I can, replacing instanc of I with Oel and el, and others along that line. We may not have enough words to fully translate it, but with something as long as this, it would probably add a few words to your personal memorized vocabulary :)

@Kiyoshi Tenshi: It really did? Wow, I'm honored; I'm amazed that my poem could cause you to feel such strong emotions.  Thanks very much!  :)

@Na'rìngeyä Toruk: Thanks!

@Nume fpi sänume: I really don't think I'm going to try and translate it, although it definitely would help me a lot with learning...
