Txur’Itan

Ma Sa'nok was getting very old, and was felling very tired.
She had trouble walking and made me carry her from place to place these days.
There were many times when I would remember her flying me around on her ikran when I was very small.
I knew her to miss being able to jump from tree branch to tree branch like the best of us.
She was sure with a bow, even if her aim was always a little off.
When she was trying to move around on her own, she would sometimes fall down and need my help to pick her up.
Her last ikran was still feisty, and strong, and while many years old and tired himself, would still offer to let ma sa'nok fly.
It was too difficult for ma sa'nok to hold on as he flies any more.
I would think about these things as I get older, and try to find a way for ma sa'nok to be lefpom.

One day ma sa'nok was very sick, and Tsahìk said to me that she was going to be with Eywa soon.
I did not want for ma sa'nok to be sad from this news, and tried to think of a way to make her smile more.
I finally decided that it did not matter what happened next, ma sa'nok was going to fly again, one last time.

Watching her ikran looking at me as I walk by to feed mine, I could tell it expects me to bring ma sa'nok to him.
So I decided that that is what I should do.
I modified her saddle, and got some extra twine so that ma sa'nok would not fall during flight.
I brought ma sa'nok to the hometree perch where the Ikran stayed waiting for her.
It knew her right away and came without being called.
I placed the mount on the Ikran, and then placed ma sa'nok on the mount.
I strapped ma sa'nok down, and then helped them with tsahaylu.
I placed her flying visor on her head and pulled it over her eyes.
My mother smiled at me, nodded, and without a moment of wasted thought or speaking, they flew.

The ikran was gentle with its flight, it could feel how frail ma sa'nok had become with old age.
They glided slow and gracefully around the home tree, high above its tallest branches.
Then I closed my eyes for a moment, and opened them to find that they were gone.

I could not see them anywhere.
I could sense that they were gone, I do not know where.
I could only hope ma sa'nok went some place where she felt free again, where she was happy and at peace.
The ikran never returned, where ever they were they were there together.

Eywa ayngahu.

She has fallen and ikran get up.

It's a pretty good tale there Txur'Itan. I like it, though the rythm is a bit off. But I don't have anything else to nit-pick there.

Good story. Made me think of Avatar again.
