The Inexplicable (Fanfiction)

1.0: The Awakening

I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't. I kept hearing voices - they sounded like the people the Skypeople called Txoktors. I listened. They were talking about someone, or something called Wright. Luckily, I had been learning their language for a few years now and I could understand what they were saying. Who, or what was this 'Wright'? I was suddenly overcome by a sweeping sensation. My chest was rising and falling - I was breathing. But it didn't taste like the usual air that I had breathed - it was different. What was happening to me? The talking between the Skypeople had now stopped and they were now quiet. Occasionally, one of them would say "Wright? Wright, are you okay? You've been in an accident but you're safe now. Just take it nice and easy." Were they talking to me? If so, why were they calling me Wright? I felt warmth from above me. Was I surrounded by a fire? I could only open my eyes slowly. Everything was blurry and then after a few seconds, I could see everything that was around me. There wasn't any fire - the warmth that I felt was coming from something hanging above me that was at first extremely bright. Where was I? I was not at home.  

"Commander Wright. Welcome back. We were worried that you were comatose." I stared at the four Aliens that surrounded me. I examined them carefully. Three of them were male and stood further back from me than the other. The final one was female, and it was her that had spoken to me. I tried to speak but I was still overwhelmed by that disgusting and unfamiliar taste. All I could do was cough.
"Commander, please. You were in a potentially fatal accident - just try to take it slowly." The Aliens permitted me to sit up and I did. I looked at my body: they must have placed me in some kind of white robe. I studied it. I started at my waist and continued until I got to my feet. As I did, I saw something that was unbelievably terrifying. The very sight of it made it feel like my heart had stopped beating. This explained the unusal taste in my mouth and why these humans were calling me 'Wright'.
