Anybody else in the world besides me play Zork, the 30 year old computer game? It's a pretty fun text adventure game and an important part of gaming history. It's also playable on the new COD game.  :)

I did, but then my lantern battery died and I was eaten by a grue.

Something that anyone who can answer "Yes" to this thread should know about, and why you don't want to be in the dark. :)

What's a grue?
The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

I loved Zork!!!  I played it on the mainframe at college.  That and Adventure.  God I loved those text based adventure games.

For some reason I think of that first text version as the first survival horror, it was so easy to get pwned it actually gave me stress. LOLZ!

So many things out to kill you, and you did not stand a chance.

One time I played I was afraid of going into the house at the beginning and kept trying to find commands to go somewhere else, I had no idea that you had no choice...

Then this game came along => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_to_Zork

Mind was totally blown for two years...

LOL, the one memory I have of Return to Zork....

A TV that when you watched it had a silly animated commercial...  It went something like this...

Announcer: Have a pounding headache?
(Head shot of someone with a pulsing head, accompanied by sound effects)
Announcer: Try new wammo-prin!
(Someone smacks the person over the head, the pulsing stops)
Person: Duh, I don't feel a thing!
Announcer: Wammo-prin.  Give it a whack!

Zork Nemesis on the other hand....  I can still hear the voices of the four alchemists sometimes as they got together near the end.  Or the sanatorium....

I should have known it could be found on the intertubes somewhere...  I got the dialog from the commercial SLIGHTLY wrong.
