people their will be a halo 4!

about a week ago a went to go get some avatar stuff from barns and noble and i got the guiniuss world records 2010 and they had a section on halo, a quote saying, "we've never said that we're finished with Halo 3; in the edge acceptance vid, we confirmed that the ride isn't over."

and in another part, when they had a interview with Bungie Studios, GWR:"have we really seen the last of the Master Chief?" BUNGIE:"The Halo universe continues to branch out and grow in exciting new ways, but it's probably a safe bet that fans will see John-117 again some day."

Halo 4 is Halo: Reach and it will be a prequel.

All new Halo projects will be helmed by 343 Studios. Bungie is moving onto a new IP after Reach launches.

^This, and also, Bungie explicitly stated that Halo 3 is the end of the story arc. That doesn't mean that there won't be any more games, however.

If they do decide to continue the story, then Microsoft should be declared a liar.

If Microsoft doesn't continue the franchise (but not necessarily the story) then they might as well declare that they hate money...

... which is pretty much what Bungie has done by ditching Halo.

Not so, they just don't want to be seen as a one-trick pony. They are leaving Halo with a bang and hopefully their next IP will be just as, if not even more, brilliant.

I can totally understand not being a one trick pony. But that doesn't mean ditch the IP that made you!! Look at what id is doing. Yeah, its been FOREVER since they made an original IP but now they're making Rage AND Doom 4. Why can't Bungie make something new AND another Halo?

Ok i ment halo 5. Reach is befor the original halo so i dont think it would be the halo 4 game. halo 4 would be on how master chief survives on what ever planet he lands on.

I agree that the "Halo" story, about the Halos, is over. But the cliffhanger at the end of Halo 3 says there will be more. I believe there will be another game, one that follows master chief on whatever the planet is that he is on. But it won't be "Halo", because, quite frankly, it won't be about a Halo. I think there will be a new game, set in the same universe.

Hey, who knows, master chief's future could BE the new game Bungie are moving onto.

As for the games themselves, I love them! Although I live for the multiplayer!

Anyway, their next book will be a PRE-PRE-PRE-PRE-PRE-prequel. It's supposedly about the Forerunners, who they were, what they did, what happened to them, etc. etc. I'll be looking forward to that and Reach.

I could care less about Halo's story (which I personally find to be generic and poorly done, but that's obviously just my opinion). I feel that Halo, like Doom, doesn't need a story. Heck, the story actually gets in the way. So just give us our ass kicking Master Chief back and let us kick Covenant ass!!

Actually, it seems Bungie wanted to piss us off by implying that Forerunners are Human.

In fact, according to the Terminals, not only are Forerunners NOT human, they actually wanted to pass their "Mantle of Guardianship of the Galaxy" down to Humans, and they planned to have Humanity as the successors to the Forerunners.

Obviously that didn't go so well.

there is an episode that depics the history of the Forerunners, it even shows kinda what they look like. but it shows how they repopulated teh galaxy and every thing else.

well, it doesn't really show what they look like, because they're fully armored in the combat skin, but ya see the basic shape of them and that they DON'T have two thumbs!! stupid panel of halo 1...
