Hey,

I started playing yesterday, and I'd like to see how multiplayer works on beta, any idea how to set up or connect to a server?

Eanikran

a friend of mine said its really complicated, you have to set up all these console files and stuff and link them to an ip, it sounds really hard to do

Niwantaw

if you can forward a port it's pretty straight forward.

Just download the sever.exe and run it
Only mostly AWOL.

Le'eylan

Can someone explain the purpose of this game cause I tslam ke'ut.

hrh i just got done building a massive tower into the sky, then i built a 2 story house on top of the tower...

There is a path from the roof of the building to a hole in the ground, leading to the bottom of the map...

It is awesome, and my new home, no creepers can get up there and blow it up :D

I don't have beta yet I can only play classic for now, but I can tell you from experience in similar games, don't do multiplayer unless its with friends as most people playing will just be working to destroy your stuff like the miserable little trolls they are..

Actually, Tìyawn, that's not entirely true. On a Creative (Classic) server, you just have to find a good, moderated one and you shouldn't have too many problems. On Survival, the chances of you finding a Griefer are slim to none. The simple fact that you have to pay around 20 USD in order to play it weeds out most of them. You can also find some servers (like the one I go to) that make it to where certain structures can't be edited except by certain people. If you were to ask, they'd probably set up your house that way.

Also, since Beta servers are usually smaller in the number of players active at any given time, if you do happen to find a Griefer, they'll be banded very quickly. Also, since most structures are made out of cobble and it now takes time to destroy any block, Griefing is a lot harder.

Currently, I am working on some really awesome stuff in MCB. Once I'm done, I'll post the download like here as well as the Minecraft forums.

Thanks for the compliment officer   :D and thanks for a info as well I didn't know there would be that little number of griefers.

FYI: we have a server setup for the LN.org community. You can find it at minecraft.learnnavi.org

I've had a few problems with griefers but server mods can (Usually) stop them
Only mostly AWOL.

Although, there was that time on my Creative server that a Griefer destroyed a chunk of your boat because we were somewhere else. I suppose it could have been averted if we had another OP.

Since I run my server from my laptop I usually shut it off if I can't be there to watch it or when there's nobody that I can trust playing in it. :P

Human No More

Minecraft FTW. I go on the LN server sometimes :)

Anyone who likes minecraft should check out coestar's web series, coe's quest, on youtube so far over 100 hundred episodes and is almost as addicting as the game itself. It's best to watch in order otherwise it won't make much sense. They're all about 15 minutes long but the time seems to go fast and before you know it, you've been watching it for 4 hours and still want more.

I have tried to play it with a server but it is rather slow for my PC even though it is a new computer. The game runs off the motherboard instead of the videocard which I think is stupid. Once the maker changes that then I can play it a lot more often without such lag... I think  :-\

yeah, it's because it's coded on Java, which eats ram like a hummer eats gas. which explains why I can play bioshock and Just Cause 2 on my laptop with the same quality as they run on my PS3 but minecraft lags like a b****. ::)

I just hope it gets fixed soon. I didnt pay my 14 euro or so for it not to be worth while.

Mllte oe. I think the only way it's gonna get better is if he rewrites it to something else. Personally I think it's bullsh*t that he wrote it on Java in the first place. It's not like he's broke, a million something people have premium accounts for 15 currency and it goes to him and his programmers. if he wanted to he could send it in to a big game dev and have it put out on consoles I bet.
