Warzone 2100!

One of my favourite RTS games, it's free and still being developed for!

Warcraft III is possibly one of the most balanced multiplayer game there is. They should have made a Warcraft 4. WoW did certainly not impress me at all (tried the trial, got tired of it before the trial period ended).

I bought WC3 only for the custom maps

Starcraft became so much bigger in the competitive gaming, which is probably most of the reason that they made SC2. Then SC2 is basically the same game engine as WC3, just a bit patched up and with more detailed graphics.

That really stands out when they do the in-game cutscenes that WC3 did, and the units do their idle animation in the middle of it.

C&C was fantastic on the video front. All of them but generals have proper videos with a cast!!
