I'm currently working my way through Mothership Zeta (i say currently, i haven't played that game in ages)

Operation Anchorage has made the game so easy. Stealth Armour + Gauss Rifle = Deathclaw dies in two shots having never seen who fired at him. ;D

I still use the Hunting Rifle. I'm not going to get rid of it while I still have 400-odd bullets for it. Anyway...it's cool... 8)

I'm usually over-leveled for things, 'cos i'll get bored doing the story and just randomly wander off, end-up fighting enemies I shouldn't be and leveling up for doing nothing. I was level 16 before I got to Project Purity. Having said that, the enemies (mostly) level up with you, so it isn't such a problem.

This sounds like the first quest for the Thieves guild (the one which you have too do in order to join them). You're looking for a pile of clothes on the floor.

After you've stolen that, you get told where to take it.

But i'm sure there's a guide somewhere if this isn't helpful, but this is what i remember.

I already did that. Now I'm trying to kill someone for the Dark Brotherhood.

Also, the first time I tried the DB's mission I was attacked by, then eventually killed because I had walked through the door right in him, a rouge looking guy. I wounder who sent if since I'm in the Thief's Guild and was doing the Dark Brotherhood's quest...

fallout 3 speak: how about taking on a super mutant master on hard when you have very few bullets and badly damaged combat armour

that wasn't fun.

ol' painless is a worthy weapon to get if you like hunting rifles
and if you want the best small gun in the game (No joke, high power, reasonable accuracy, common ammo, takes forever to break, not too heavy, fair few of the guns you need to repair it kicking about) then go to the museum of technology. check every computer. 3 of them will have an extra option. Save it and choose that option and then guess the next one. If you don't get it load the save game and try a different one. once you have done all three you'll be told about a meeting location (and the pass for a safe) go to the meeting location (it's a diner) and in there there is a corpse.... on he corpse... is a named Chinese assault rife.
which is quite probably the best gun in the game (yes there are more damaging ones like the named fat man and vengeance but... neither have very common ammo)

now back to topic:
what character style do you use in oblivion?
i normally make an archer. With marksman, light armour, blade, athletics, acrobatics, armourer, and something (i can't remember)
(and i don't like magic... not sure why)
Only mostly AWOL.

First time through: Ninja class - Long Blade, Light Armour, Marksman, Sneak, Block, Security and Illusion.
Illusion was a waste, ended up never using it...

Second time through: Jack-of-all-trades - Blade, Light armour, Destruction, Restoration, Block, Security and Sneak. Much better than my other class.

Always choose to be a vampire and always do the Dark Brotherhood first, they give such great enchanted stuff.

That is the one thing i hate about Oblivion: It's Elder Scrolls, but toned down. You don't get "Spear", "Axe", "Blunt", "Long Sword", "Short Sword" and "Hand-to_Hand", you got "Blade", "Blunt" and "Unarmed". They got rid of so much stuff. >:(

Swapping back to Fallout quickly: Best small gun I found was while doing the "Stealing Indepedence" I killed the girl who helps you, and picked up her SMG. That's pretty good.

Oblivion: Game is so super easy when if you get 100% camouflage XD

Fallout3: I love the lincoln rifle especially since I can make all the 44 rounds I want with the pitt expansion.

Even easier with 100% protect which my (can't remember class names, might be a custom class anyway) mage can do (granted wearing as many items enchanted with protect from the highest soul gems as possible of course).  ;D

Argh, I have to put some Snake Venom into some guy in Gallofort's wine but I only saw a vile on the floor oh his house which I could do nothing to. Spellblades also attack me but they aren't hard to kill.

Fallout: I agree thats its a challenging game, and i suck at hacking computers, i cant figure out how its done, someone care to help?

Oblivion: I finished 8+1 story the armour is alright but i'm not going into the Shivering Ilses until i'm a higher level, the awsome armor it has i pointless if you get it while your under level 12 imo

Fallout hacking is like a game of Mastermind. Without spending ages agonising over your choices, the best way to do it is by luck (using 3 of the 4 chances, exiting the machine, then reaccessing it). Even with high science, the method of hacking doesn't change, you just get more 4 letter words than 6 letter words  :D

To be honest, I don't bother hacking. I probably miss a lot of stuff, but it doesn't seem to matter too much...

As for Shivering Isles, I went there quite quickly (sort of a level or two above what they say you must be) and regretted it, because the 2nd or 3rd quest you do there gets you a leveled magic sword called Dawnfang which is fantastic (provided you get it at a high level.)

@ kemeoauniaea
100% protect is ridiculous! I didn't even think the game would let you. Are you completely invunerable from harm?

there is actually very little point to levelling up in oblivion

you get better.... but so do they......  so point? it stays the same difficulty all the time
no liner progression it just ups the enemies when you level up which means it stays fairly easy for the whole thing  unless you level up too quickly
...
I might play it again... i haven't played it in a while

I had to sacrifice a lot of duration on the custom spell to get enough protect so it only lasts a few seconds, then I'm down to about 2/3 IIRC, and I think fall damage is unaffected.

But yes, in battle, if I'm really screwed I can cast my uber-protect spell so I'm invulnerable and then run away (using speed spells).

I agree though, it is ridiculous and so I used it once to test it out and have never used it since because it's a bit of a game breaker, particularly with the fast mana regeneration my character has so I can keep casting the spell about a dozen times before my mana's down.

Yeah but it means that you can complete quests easier and kill NPC's in towns, etc.
By the way, i got a thread in the projects board for Oblivion Mods, should check out http://forum.learnnavi.org/your-projects-other-resources/oblivion-mods/

I have only played Oblivion for PS3, but I have that the others in the series are just as good. My character build for right now is an Altmer (high elf) battlemage with the sign of the mage. It's my first time playing a character using mostly magic, since I normally stick to melee weapons and attacks. I gotta say though it's pretty fun. :D

Pah.

Mages are for wimps who need the all powerful stuff known as "Magica" to survive..
(although making a high elf with the sign of the apprentice... That could prove difficult)

I don't hate magic it just is far too easy to play as a magic based character... now as a thief using only a bow and a short/long sword/dagger that is a different thing entirely...

Yeah... I'm a rouge...
knight characters get screwed if something faster than them turn up with a ranged attack... mages are screwed if they meet something with ridiculous magic resistance... and rouges... rouges only really get screwed if you try to use it as a full on combat character
Only mostly AWOL.

I think it would also be difficult to make a mage with the sign of the Atronach birth sign. Especially for beginners, who are not used to the stunted magicka effect.

in a magic fight you'd be fine... outside of one... probably not so fine but I would think you would make a warrior mage for that... or a rouge mage

I bought it on offer on steam, played it, then forgot it. Should try to get into it again.
