timeless game ideas

Think about AngryBirds, a hit game that's simmilar to tanks, worms, scorched earth and the like. All those precursors were very popular at thier time. Same with top view shooters like Crimsonlands, aliens, i made the game with zombies - too many simmilar to name and remember.

What other (simple) games concepts do you remember that were a blast to play?

PAC-MAN!

Yom yom yom. It's so simple! and yet hours of fun. Just go around in a maze and avoid the ghosts.

I miss Pac-man.

Edit: Actually, I have it on my phone, but it's just not the same. >_>

The Sims - A game based on real life. You would think someone wouldn't want to play a game based on their own lives, when the purpose of many games is to provide an escape. However, the Sims is the top selling PC game series of all times. It's so addicting! I think many character creation and simulation games owe something to the Sims, and the company that created it: Maxis.

I even have trouble finding the original pac-man on the internet, I always get some fancy re-make version. I hate that, luckily I have the original for my PS3 and some others old games from CapCom

YES! I love Tetris! Just match up the blocks. Heheh *eye twitch* How simple is that? And yet so difficult. I have that on my phone too, but it's all modernized and stuff.

And it's only a demo so I can't even get past Level 1.

Damn! can't think of the name now. I'll ask soon. It's basically a 2D version of Unreal Tournament. Incredibly hectic. You have snipers, miniguns, shotguns, chainsaws and even jetpacks. It's awesome, and a lot of fun at lan-parties, partially because the game is so old my microwave can run it.

All of the "Old style" shooters are just pure mindless fun. None of this "ADS" and sensible weapons crap.

I've seen quite a few variations of the Tower Defense theme. (e.g. building automated defenses on maps to fend off waves of bugs, zombies, aliens, etc)

How about Worms (2D versions)? It more or less shows you where stuff is going to hit, and all the weird weapons are such classics ^^ (like the exploding old lady)
