A friend sent me a theory. A strange one that I don't believe.

Here it is. I want to get some opinions on this.
(I think it's BS)
Thousands of years before the movie began, the Na'vi had a massive empire of genetic engineers who exterminated all local life in order to breed an assortment of powerful living tools they can access with a biological connector. The AI who ran the empire, Eywa, found their transgressions unspeakable. When the Na'vi first plugged into their global network, she simply erased their memories of their entire culture and scientific background, left them with enough aboriginal skills to survive, and let them go. The Na'vi live in blissful ignorance of their mighty past, thinking the world around them is filled with useful "spirits" and that Eywa is the "great goddess." Eywa doesn't particularly give two s*** about the Na'vi so long as she can plan for long-term goals, and ignored humans until the Na'vi fed her one. Intrigued by what she learned, she humored Jake's prayer and sent an army of oddities. She could've bio-engineered super-deadly kaiju to handle the humans if they leeched more unobtanium than she was comfortable sacrificing, but the Na'vi handled them nicely enough. Now that she has some quiet time again, she's going to dissect Jake Sully's mind (having implanted a copy into his Avatar's) as well as the doctor's and see what really fun stuff she can engineer.

I'd say that humans would find out that there was some "high technology" (as we call it) on Pandora before. I don't mean synthetic, but there measurable vibrations and signals. That's how they knew about the Tree of Souls. I mean, if there was a civilization, something had to remain on Pandora. And by the way it's impossible for something not natural (then - not perfect) to erase exact memories. I don't say that humans can't erase some memories, but they endanger all other memories by doing it. AI and creatures (I mean nothing 'higher') can't find out in which part of memory neuronal site is an exact memory (or a series of memories). You can't take a brain, point it's part and say:" So here are memories of..."

I don't believe this theory. It looks weird... I considered x times the world of Pandora and Na'vi culture, as we see it (what showed the film and books) and the way, how we see it, is right, I think.
Of course, there's a space for a discussion.

To me it doesn't feel Cameronian compatible, but it sure has plenty of potential for a deep and intriguing fanfic.

On a side note, my Harry Potter / How to Train Your Dragon crossover is coming together, should start posting it fairly soon, ish. There's a twist at the end.
Pasha, an Avatar story, my most recent fanfic, Avatar related, now complete.

The Dragon Affair my last fanfic, non Avatar related.

Kea tìkin. :)

One of reasons I love Avatar is, that James Cameron (and his co-workers) wanted to do it very realistic. For example, tsaheylu could exist, I think. That theory... It's interesting (as Archaic wrote, a good topic for a fanfiction
) but to be honest - I wouldn't love Avatar if the theory was right. I love Avatar as it is and as we consider the story to be.

Good point. I love Avatar just how it is.
