Things to do to watch Avatar with louder settings

I know. not perhaps the most important topic on the site.

But I have wanted to soundproof my room so that i can crank up the volume om my soundsystem, anyone got some suggestions for how to achieve maximum results with as little money as possible

Use packing foam.

If you want to do it easily, line the walls with pyramids of packing foam pointing towards the centre of the room or use something like this to line the walls.

If you want to be cheap but don't mind taking more time, save up those foam peanuts and glue them to the walls in a few layers so that you can't see any of the wall, then add another layer or two on top of it. This won't look as good or be quite as effective, but is more leDIY and (other than glue) is free.

Yeah i was thinking of something like that. did the math quickly in my head and it'd cost about 400 $

well yeah. but my neighbours dont.

one of the neighbours just sold their house and one of the reasons they sold was because i had to loud music and movies

Another option that works well: Put the home theater in the basement.

Friend of mine has his system in the basement...when cranked to near max, it makes you want ear plugs if in the room with the thing, but outside from the street, it isn't that noticeable...and AFAIK, his neighbors have never complained.

I guess kewnya txamew'itan's idea is best then...packing foam is cheap.

Also, I don't know about your area, but near me there's a local dumpster where people can drop off foam, paper, and cardboard for recycling. I've been there a few times with my dad to drop off cardboard (had way too much to put at the curb for the recycling truck), and have seen people take the foam and cardboard...

I've read that not all areas allow trash/recyclable picking though...check if you don't know.

yeah, kewnya txamew'itan's idea is probably the one i'll go after

there is a dump/ recykling thingie pretty close by. but it isn't allowed to pick stuff up from there when it has been thrown in, by law. lol
