However, their eyes are really big. Maybe two sets of eyes merged? Possibly?
Maybe the second set of eyes is more spiritual? The whole link to 'I see you'. Probably not, but that just popped into my head when I saw the thing about eyes  ;D

Somewhere on James Cameron's Avatar Wikia are sayd that a big pair of eyes are normal, and the little seen in the infrared.

Yes that explains their purpose, but not how they got there. Which came first, the two or the four? Did two large eyes, like the na'vi, close off into 4 small ones, or did the 4 small ones join together to make 2 big ones?

I don't know. Maybe Avatar II & III say something.

I tread somewhere credible that the second pair of eyes for Ikran and such are just sensors to help it see behind it because of the foward placement of its first set of eyes, kind of like a replacement for the deer's natural ability to see 360 degrees around it?

I think Avatar Wiki says they see in the near-infrared for night hunting.

Hunting in infrared would be so cool, r they heat sensors too?

Btw, i just had a thought, how do ikran catch prey if they dont have "legs" like toruk do?

No.  According to Avatar Wiki:  "Forward of the primary eyes are lines of sensor pits. These are thought to provide airflow information in flight, like a pitot tube on an airplane. Another hypothesis is that they are sensitive to sound, and have an echolocation role, by sensing the reflected sound of the banshee shrieks."

It would not be unreasonable to assume the sensor pits detect heat as well, imho.

In their mouths.
Pasha, an Avatar story, my most recent fanfic, Avatar related, now complete.

The Dragon Affair my last fanfic, non Avatar related.

Trying to think back to the final battle, weren't the ikrans able to snatch the men off the Valkyries with their taloned feet, or at least knock them off?

.    That raises another question, when the ikran were flying down at like a million miles an hour and slamming into the metal helocopters hard enough to make them fall, why didnt they break bones? The ilran seem relatively fragile because of how light they would have to be to get such a large creature in the air (not counting the lesser gravity on Pandora)

Maybe they have carbon fiber enforced bones like the na'vi. It is both light and durable.
