How to live like a na'vi? (Na'vi bows, etc)

I'm hosting an...Avatar party with my two friends, and we wanna make some ligit bows for this thing. I mean, we're going all out:
Body paint
weapons
na'vi speaking
watching avatar
running around outside like freaks
going door to door saying "kaltxì!"

So, I really would like to make a nice looking, strong bow. I live in Wisconsin, and, the biggest forest by me is right behind my house. It's not too big because the Eagle Scouts messed it up, but good enough. The only trees I can think of are giant box-elder trees.
I have access to basic supplies in making a nice bow, but I'd rather do it Na'vi style, with a knife and God knows what else...
So, tips on weaponry and how we can be Na'vi for the night? (By that I mean we are camping out in said forest! We want to feel like Na'vi, even if it's just for one night!)

I reeeeaaaalllllyyyyy wish I lived in Wisconsin right now!

Well the Na'vi use knives and spears, as we know. Also as we know, they sleep in hammocks. So if you have any of those, you could tie them up high in the trees. My 2 cents :) Have fun!

What is it like to sleep in a hammock? It's not something I've ever done.

It's SOOO comfortable...it's like half-sleeping on air, and it's amazing. Get yourself a hammock and try it out!

Sounds amazing... I wish I had AFK friends like that :(

And as for hammocks... yeah, I really want one to sleep in for myself...

That post you responded to was from way back in October!

BTW, how did your party go?

Hammocks are cool (you can send me one). The last time I slept in one was in an empty tiger enclosure in a big cat compound back in 2003. It was a fun night-- until it stormed, and I got soaking wet despite having a roof over me. I tried it a second night and got stormed on again  ::)

I validate this. We have two hammocks (brought from Brazil) at our family house in the countryside. Solidly attached between two trees, you sit in it and lie down into it, still balancing itself smoothly. You close your eyes and concentrate listening to the sound of the wind across the moving leaves and branches, of birds signing and playing above you from time to time. I usually enclose myself in it to avoid having the sunlight in my eyes. A pure pleasure.
