I GOT A BOW

oh my gosh!!! as a late christmas gift, i got a recurve longbow aproximantly 57" tall, an arm guard, a target, ten arrows, and deerskin gloves so my fingers dont get all sore and torn up. ive pretty much been kicking txim at it and will now challenge myself to shoot the na'vi way

Not entirely true. You see, the Na'vi also overdraw. Majorly overdraw. So the things to remember are face the palm of your nocking hand outward (away from your body), and though I won't condone it because it's bad for your bow, overdraw, meaning you need longer-than-stock arrows.

I have been using a bow since I was a teenager, and holding the nock of the arrow the way that I do, palm in for so long, I think that I would send the arrow into the next zip code if I tried to use a bow the way that the Na'vi do. I also use one of those compound bows, you should have heard the razzing that I got back in the early eighties when I showed at my Unkle's house in North Carolina with one of those the first time. He asked me if the "Wheels on it, are to wheel the Deer out of the woods" after I shot it.
He made my cousin get me a traditional bow to use, as he wasn't going to be "Laughed off the Res". I got even though, I was the first one to nail a Deer.

lol i tried shooting the na'vi way and broke a window lol, so i broke down and just learned how to shoot the normal way cause it isnt so hard, sorry guys

and my bow was only 40 bucks and has maintained its quality. i have the avatr soundtrack on my itouch so i always play "the death of quaritch" and time my shots to the music when neytiri shoots her bow.

Perhaps it is a case of human versus Na'vi, (or Avatar), physiology of the wrist. now that you proved my "in the next Zip Code statement to be true, I'm going to keep my palm facing inward untill I get an Avatar, or BEST YET, Na'vi body.

I envy all ppl who have a bow and/or do archery

, because that's something I wanted to have/do since I was a child... I never really had the time or money for establishing that hobby and making this little dream of me become true, but I hope some day soon I will.

I do not overdraw the bow, I was talking of left or right of the target, not overshooting it. I have nocked the arrow, and held the bowstring the same way for so long, that I don't thing that I could control the path of the arrow, if I reversed things. It is a VERY strongly reinforced muscle memory habit.

I'd like to see how the bow looks, how big it is as well.

Only used one a few years ago in Tunisia, this requires some practice to hold it the right way.

Well go get yourself one, and go get some instruction with it, and then PRACTICE (a lot) with it.

i googled "firebird recurve bow" its green and thats pretty much all i can say to help y'all.
