So, as Neytiri said, an Ikran / Banshee does what his rider tells him to do.
For example, after Jake ride his Ikran, he said something like: "Shut up and fly straight!". That what he did.
So, if he wants to turn left, he only has to say/think "Turn left".
Well, but when Jake was riding his Ikran, he said "s***!". Then, shouldn't the Ikran... well you know what I mean... At least when he said that i thaught "What is going to do now the Ikran?"

I think you're forgetting that there are several lexical entries for sh*t (one being the verb you described, one being a noun and another being equivalent to pxasik).

The ikran, in my opinion would not so much respond to the word as the thought and, so would treat these entries differently.

Also, through tsahaylu the ikran can feel what exactly the rider thinks, so if that aforementioned word was used as pxasìk, the ikran would know it ;)

Well there seems to be a bit of a problem there - when he's on the cliff, and Neytiri says "think, 'fly'!", Jake seems, to me anyway, to repeat "fly" as a question (as in "fly? That's what I have to think?") rather than actually as a command - surely then the Ikran would know this and not leap off the cliff at that moment :P

She also told him that the first flight completes the bond... so anything that transpired before or during that flight is problematical.
I'm wondering about Vulcan mind control. Why couldn't people link their ponytails?

I think that's what the do when they're...you know....

I DID wonder about that. The scene in the flick didn't show a tsahaylu.

people make tsaheylu with eachother when they... hmm... you know...   ::)

Theoretically speaking, if Jake was only thinking of his fear when he said a certain expletive, he wasn't associating it with the action "to potty". More likely, he was thinking "!!!ohsh*iti'mflyingwhatthehellamidoingohsh*tohsh*tohsh*tf*uckf*uck!!!" thusly sending the ikran into a panic.

That, or the ikran probably didn't understand English.

However, that would make it extremely easy to fly over somebody you didn't like and "drop some air-mail".

Sorry guys, it's 2 in the morning here and I'm a little loopy :D

HRH! This topic conjures up very interesting views and ideas. I'd think that an ikran would try to obey its makto upto a certain point. After all, self-preservation is something strong.

But when I think of the scenes of Jake's first flight and how they slam into the rocks a few times, I wonder...

I think an ikran doesn't do what I say, it does what I think/want it to do. I can say anything , if I don't really mean it, it won't count.

Agreed. You can fly it without talking so it has to be some mental connection thing (-> tsaheylu).

Only one problem with that...if your dog takes off after a squirrel...you might just be dragged along with him... ;D
