What size is the profile picture required to be?

I made mine 100x100 and it resized them.
Is this right? I just write whatever in the signature box?

i took mine straight out of my folder (1024x768) and put it in. it did the resizing for me.  :D
"Guys, come on. Whats wrong with this picture? Wheres my cigerette?"
