I've always been something of an elitest when it comes to movies. My top 5 pre-Avatar consisted of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Juno, Walk the Line, Apollo 13, and Donnie Darko. I've generally been pretty tough on movies like TDK (even though I still love it), Transformers, Harry Potter, ect, ect and other such blockbusters.

I went into Avatar fully prepared to bring on the hate machine afterwards. Since then I've seen the movie 12 more times, own the art book and the field guide, and am actively learning the language. So yeah, no hate machine here. Quite the opposite.

Now all my elitest friends think I'm completely insane. You know what? Sanity is overrated. Go Avatar!

My friends also think I'm a bit crazy but I don't care. :D
I love Avatar, the Na'vi and the Na'vi language. :)

I've been posting about Avatar on the gamefaqs forums for a while and there is just SO much Avatar hate there. This site is a really nice change of pace.

I didn't come to Avatar expecting to be disappointed, but neither did I think it would create such a change. And to think I used to silently mock those who watched it too many times   :D

Yeah, I was a HUGE fan of Titanic but I still only saw it twice in theaters. I also liked Terminator, T2, and The Abyss so I've pretty much always been a James Cameron film. I remember the first time I saw the trailer for Avatar. I thought it looked really lame and the trailer left me wondering what the movie was even about. It seemed like it was just gonna be another CGI fest. But when I found out that James Cameron was the one doing it, I knew I'd at least have to give it a chance. I still had incredibly low expectations for it.

Even when I was watching it for the first time I knew that the story really wasn't that original and that many of the characters were under developed. And yet for some reason (that didn't involve 3D effects) I was completely hooked pretty much from the opening line. Having now seen it a bajillion times, I no longer think that the characters are shallow. Cameron managed to hide quite a bit of personallity between the lines.

Good thing we have such a good support group... although is the support supposed to make the addiction worse?

The best support groups have what you are "addicted to" served at the coffee table.

See it one more time and you can claim that you've been on Pandora for 3 whole days.

I think I am going to stop at 20, but I said that at 3rd, 16 showings ago.  I should have saved my midnight showing ticket from opening night, the theater was half empty.

I could so do 26 times. I don't think I'm going to make it past 13 though. Job doesn't pay enough. I'll have to wait for the hopefully extended DVD.

Hmmm...
Support group meeting: Big screen HD Hi-def TV. Hi-def blu-ray player
On the coffee table: Avatar DVD, Avatar Soundtrack. Activist Guide. Art of Avatar book. Laptop with Learnnavi.org fired up.

That's not a good support group for Avatar addiction... LoL  ;D

Lap 22 of Avatar was epic as usual. My boss wants to see it again. He said tomorrow i'm getting out early again to go see it with him. I didn't argue.  ;D

Lucky, I have taken to speaking na'vi at customers just to make my co-workers mad because none of them will even go see it!
