do we actually know that neytiri is an only??? i mean, that could be the plot for the next movie.  an under (or older) sibling looking for revenge perhaps?  I know, not very na'vi like, but it could happen.

Mllte... it is so easy to take things for granted.
Eytukan handed his bow to Neytiri, making her (at least) temporary leader of the clan (I assume). In his state I can imagine that he wanted to secure that part. When you lie there, with a piece of wood through you, and you know you're going to die, you probably don't take the time to say "Give this bow to your older brother/sister and tell him/her..."

well i'm not saying that it wasn't his intention to have her be the leader... i'm just bringing up the possibility of other siblings.

Neytiri had an older sister, Sylwanin, who was killed when the RDA did something at Grace's school and killed a bunch of children, well before the start of the movie.

Sylwanin and a group of her friends set fire to a bulldozer. They were chased by some of the RDA. They fled to the school hoping for Grace's protection, but before Grace could intervene they got shot. :'( This turned the relation between the Omatikaya and the RDA from bad to worse.

BTW This is my first post.

I heard it from the 2007 script, and from wiki.

Hey, I have the 2007 script in my documents....if I could figure out a way to post it in a download section does anyone want it?

I found a link  :D http://sashahalima.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/JamesCameronAVATAR_screenplay.pdf
The story is on page 68.
Although this is a hì'i bit off topic  ;)  :P.

Great!  ;D I don't know how I would have posted mine anyway. I have totally forgotten where I got it, so it's a good thing you found that link.

That was a pretty fascinating read. It's interesting to note what got added, what got deleted, and what got shifted around. Neytiri isn't quite as mean at the start of the movie as she is in this screenplay, but at the same time, it looks like they cut out a bunch of stuff during the montage where she noticeably warms up to Jake, and after the ceremony, during their night together. ("Oops, did I forget to say?" lawl)
They also appeared to cut out almost everything about Norm, from his relationship with Trudy, to some of his swearing about how he spent all that time preparing just to get snubbed, and also how he appears to have been invited to Hometree with Grace.
Unfortunately, after reading this, I don't see them adding in much of the neater things into the special edition release, like the dreamhunt, since they lose quite a bit of their significance without more explanation than what you'd be able to fit in 8 minutes.

I too found it fascinating to read--quite soon after I watched the movie I went and hunted it down ;D I've since read it multiple times because it's so good....and you learn a lot about things in the movie that don't seem quite right because they are missing.

I thought it was interesting that they didn't include Norm and Trudy's relationship, it would have added an interesting twist.....and made Trudy's death more emotionally painful, although it seems that most movies like making the deaths as sad as possible.  ;)

I am uber curious to see what 8 minutes they include, I agree that they probably won't include the dream hunt. We know from watching the trailer that they will include

Probably just fun little things. Although somewhere I read that there will be new creatures!

I searched "James Cameron's Avatar Script" on google, but it wasn't easy. Most of the links were just providing links to a different page, which wasn't hosting it anymore. In the end I found a good one.

I remember that I found mine from an Avatar blog, but that was when you could search 'Avatar Movie Blog' on Google and only a couple relevant searches would come up. :D

Of course, there's always the risk that you'll download a virus along with the script, but that's pretty constant with the internet these days.  :P

20th CFox has taken it off their site, so I begin to wonder if they prefer not to see it available. If so, we need to be careful posting links to other copies online. I will see what I can find out about it and report back...

Ooo good point. Yeah, I was wondering that because it's so hard to find maybe we aren't supposed to have/share it...... ::)  :P
