Quite tenuous, but...

Maybe Ninat was originally intended to be Nìnat. If this is the case, it might actually be referring to a real person. As you probably know, nì- is the prefix used to turn a word into an adverb. This job is done by the suffix -ly in English, as in "quickly" for example. So, Nìnat in psuedo-English would be "Natly" - which sounds like Natalie. I wonder if there is anyone called Natalie who she might have been named after? Quite tenuous, I know - and if Ninat was one of the "original" Na'vi words by Cameron (I can't find the list), it can't be the case as the language hadn't been developed then - but maybe there is something there?

I don't know why but this idea makes me smile :) It is likely that there are real people interwoven with the characters. But say it is one of Cameron's words, if the language wasn't that developed then, did he have the nì- prefix? It would work if he did, but otherwise it seems like the name meaning would be a later invention.

Sorry to be "that guy," but we've already discussed this elsewhere.  Kind of old news.  I'm not a mod though, so feel free to keep talking.

Wait a minute:
The first (and only, as of 2010) science fiction feature film by James Cameron that does not involve or mention nuclear weapons.

It might just be my shoddy memory, but did they actually mention nukes in Terminator?

I'm pretty sure they do when Kyle Reese is explaining judgement day to Sarah Connor.

I don't remember if JC did T3, but I know at the very end of the movie...

And yes, I did decide to put a spoiler as I'm certain there are still people who haven't seen it.
