So where do they all link up?

Any avatar drivers on the ISVs are more than likely scientists as well, and would not have any particularly strong ties to "the company". As far as I can tell, the RDA sponsers the scientific side of things more as a "cover" to give them "legitimacy" in the eyes of the public (and, more importantly, shareholders) and I'm sure most of the people signing up for the avatar program have at least some idea of that fact going in.

The trouble with trying to get the ISVs to just turn around, though, is fuel.  If I remember correctly, they depart Earth with only enough fuel to get them to Pandora, and are expected to refuel there in order to make the return trip.

Anyway, back to any avatar drivers on the ISVs, I would think the scientists presently on Pandora would have some idea who was in the program around the same time they were, and there are very likely records of who's on which flight out, so they could ask around, kindof a "Hey, do you know anything about Dave Bloggs?  Says on this passenger manifest he's supposed to be an avatar driver, think he'd be any use down here?"  They're going to need skilled people, after all, to keep the technology running that keeps them breathing in Pandora's toxic-to-humans atmosphere. :D

Stephen Lang comes back, not as Miles Quaritch, but his identical twin brother, Kelvin Quaritch, hell bent on avenging his dead brother!

LOL ;D

Reading the asg, ISV Venture star is one of ten vehicles that travel to pandora and back.
So if we take all this literally then the next ISV will arrive 12 months and 5 days after the first movie ends.
The tawtute on board will have no way of knowing what has happened until they reanimate at Pandora.
Hell's gate is effectively lost to them.
They only have the equipment they have or can manufacture on board.
They'll get a total wupping on the surface, or nuke the planet from orbit.
Potentially a lousy movie either way.

Or we can re-wright the canon a bit with some narrative causality.
There would only be two ISV's, and a prep for a mission from earth would begin as soon as Pandora was lost.
Months of reorganizing the mission, a 5 years 9 months and 22 day delay, then let battle commence.

Na'vi on earth....
Male Avatars lack the structure at the base of their ribcage that Na'vi males have.
Possibly the result of mixing in human DNA, but possibly humans don't have male Na'vi genetic material.
There would have been missions sent to Pandora, samples taken...
Pandora based exoboilogy must have developed on earth from those samples.

Just suppose those samples included a live Na'vi, (possibly female to fit the above) probably a child to fit into a human sized cryo unit.
Capturing her would not be easy, the humans may not have been gentle, probably injured during her capture, and with no medical experience she would have suffered badly.
She would have been on earth many years, kept at a research facility.
Would undoubtedly have learned to speak English and found that some humans were nicer to her than others.
She'd have preferred humans, and some humans would inevitably become close to her. So friends, of sorts.
She'd probably be a close follower of all that happens on Pandora.

There's some errors, like there being only ten ISV's, aparently there are twelve.
Next ISV is due 9 months & 26 days after the first movie ended (I now think).

Human No More

There is an interesting discussion on the ISV cycle here. It assumes that at any time, 5 are on the way to Pandora and 5 on the way back with one making a stopover at each at any one time, equally spaced, with a 1 year loiter time at each end of the trip, then a full round trip lasts 15.5 years (from the perspective of Earth/Pandora, it's around 14 years from the actual ISV's perspective due to relativistic speeds) and the ISVs are spaced approximately 1.29 years apart.

Rather than derail this thread I've started a new thread for ISV round trips.
