Which of the following events will make you boycott AVATAR 2 or 3?

Avatar 2 is the same old story of the humans coming back, another AVTR, another love story, another Toruk Makto, and another war.
0 (0%)
JC decides to throw Frommer away and use gibberish for Na'vi in Avatar 2 and 3
3 (11.1%)
Neytiri looks like she's made of plastic and speaks worse Na'vi than Grace does
0 (0%)
Avatar 2 and 3 does have Na'vi, but with ASG words and horrible pronounciation
0 (0%)
Cameron completely messes AVATAR 2 up, with no Na'vi language, fake exaggerated 3D, a bad unrealistically left-wing storyline (no offense, but like the unofficial AVTR 2 at this forum), totally bad motion capture, &c
2 (7.4%)
All of the above

My only worry would be if he wasn't involved. Eywa forbid he should die before they are made. :-X

Slä nìawnomum, that's going to be quite unlikely to happen ;D

I think that you are kind of not understanding my question. I meant to ask when you will leave the AVATAR franchise or fictional universe. It's like how people abandoned the Star Wars universe when Clone Wars came out. This has nothing to do with whether or not you like the original movie  ;D

I know what you were asking. I'd never leave this community and all the friends I've made (especially not my girlfriend) just because of a couple bad movies. (Which I'm sure Avatar 2 and 3 will not be.)

Hooray for relationships coming out of this movie. :)

Fingers crossed I will make mine work out.  ;)

Human No More

I have actual confidence in James Cameron, and all of the options are ridiculously implausible (other than the one about always liking it :) )

Skxawng, JC didn't write the survival guide himself.

As for the language, most Avatar fans aren't hugely bothered by it, but they still know of it, and understand at least a little, perhaps wanting to know more but not having the time and skill (being in that group myself). I am certain Paul Frommer will want to work on the sequel.

Those of us who have been studying it for the past year and a half or longer will be. Shoot, I'm bothered by some of the stuff in AVTR 1.

What would really set me apart is if the language got disrespected, even a little bit, and as a matter of a fact this is my main concern.  Informal Na'vi is understandable, but the butchering should be kept to a minimum, and the actors should really know what they're doing!  Next down the line would be if Cameron doesn't stay true to the Pandoran nature, and that's very unlikely to happen, nìawnomum :)

Other than that, mllte oe hu Txonä Rolyu.  Kawkrr ke tsun oe slivu tawtute nìmun.

I think Na'vi will get more respect this time, if anything.  As for the actors knowing what they're saying I think getting a few Learn Na'vi assistants for Karyu Pawl might help cover the bases for teaching Na'vi to the uninitiated.  I REALLY REALLY hope a few folks here get tapped as assistants.

I don't hear anyone worried about the development of the Na'vi culture, though.  That worries me.

And why the heck would anyone want to boycott Avatar 2 or 3 anyway?

Well, the Na'vi culture is Cameron's for the unveiling of further news. I'm sure he won't disappoint :) Shoot maybe he'll ask Frommer to create words for a kinship system!

I tend to disagree with the more die-hard fans here, since I am a fan of lì'fya leNa'vi and not really Uniltìrantokx. Actually I like watching AVATAR more to nitpick the actors' Na'vi... ;D

And what I fear is that 20th Century Fox or Lightstorm will complain about the costs and time it takes to train actors in Na'vi phonetics (they were pretty pissed of in AVTR 1 with all of the Na'vi stuff). And yes, I hope that some of us can be Na'vi assistants...

The sad fact is the VAST MAJORITY of the Avatar fan community doesn't care a bit about the language. About 70% of people at Avatar Forum still say Toruk Macto, Omaticaya, Utraya Mokri, and Sylwanin. Some of them still don't know that Jake's First Flight just has gibberish lyrics. A small portion doesn't even know Na'vi is learnable and working and still cites things from December 2009 stating that "only Frommer knows the language." We should be doing more ...eh... propaganda for the Na'vi language at AVTR forums especially. I can't see anybody here posting there!

I will just point out that hiring someone to make you a language isn't that cheap
So why would he waste it and not bother with it in the next film?
Only mostly AWOL.

Human No More

...because Avatar isn't exactly budget-constrained (being one of THE most expensive films ever; 5th most at the time of writing this post, 3rd most at release), and I seriously doubt Paul Frommer would leave the language without more development.

What I'm saying is he's already had the language created so why would he not use it further?
Only mostly AWOL.

JC will have to re-hire Frommer. That will waste a lot of money. Cameron does not learn Na'vi AFAIK so he will need to get Frommer again.

And I think the problem is that most of the Na'vi info we have is far from "official." They might not even be in-universe Cameronian canon! I don't know how much words Cameron will think "sound bad" and throw away. He was bold enough to throw away Torukä Maktoyu anyway!

Ikran Ahiyìk

The term "Toruk Maktoyu" was formed after we realized the grammatical structure.

"Toruk Makto" is some kind of title, and created originally in the script.. we can't say it's wrong..
Actually I'm looking forward to how our results of discussion in the past 2 and upcoming 3 years finally moved into the screen. :)

Yes it's quite sad for the fact that Na'vi Language still haven't spread enough at least within the AVATAR movie communities.. :(

Shahaylu? Olo'eyctan? Sa'atenuk? Beyral?

It is bad to see the Avatar CE that uses terms like "shahaylu" and "Omaticaya" in the subtitles. Avatar CE definitely comes from big Cameronian support, and that is what I don't like a lot. And the ASG...well Cameron does endorse it, though he didn't write it. I'm quite sure the Na'vi culture described in the ASG is Cameronian. Those terms, umm, probably related to things like Utraya Mokri anyway and probably with at least some Cameronian influence. I'm sure JC can't distinguish real Na'vi from things like the sentence in my sig.
