I personally haven't been following the case very closely but it's hard not to notice it when you work at a supermarket and her face is plastered on all the tabloids. I've found that I always root for the defendant just because I like to think that the said person is incapable of something as horrific as murder.

At the same time I really wish the media wouldn't grab hold of these stories and that when they do, people wouldn't get so caught up in it. I suppose that makes me a bit of a hypocrite, but I never actually read any of the articles on the case except the final verdict. The way I see it, assuming that she really is innocent, her life is ruined anyways. A) Her child is dead and B) Half the people familiar with the case probably think she's guilty despite the verdict.

What do you all think?

I've only rooted for the defendant once, during the Amanda Knox trial. The only cases my newspaper reports (that I notice) are on pimps, and I can't stand pimps.

My mom was so surprised and horrified by this murder, but I wasn't. It seems I'm always hearing about moms killing their children thses days.  :(

I know what you mean. We're so disconnected something as horrible as a child being murdered isn't even a real surprise.
