If I was rich, I would buy a plane ticket to Ecuador and make the miners disappear.

I'm not sure anyone would hear from me again, but I would finally be able to let out some anger.

Capitalism should have never existed or should have stopped developping itself since a couple of years.

Well, we should look for an alternative economy system. Currently, we have an "out-of-control" capitalism. But which system would be better?
That what we are seeing is the negative effect of the globalization in combination with capitalism - a system, that is not really compatible to the natural environment, especially if it gets out of control.

Ahem. Exaggerated economic liberalism. ;)

Avatar in real life, this is what Cameron was trying to alert folks to with the message in the movie. Uncontrolled greed is bad, having respect for the living world is good.

Unregulated capitalism is all about greed. Plain and simple. It's inherent side effects are destructive.
Given the scale and extent of technology today and in the future, it has the likely final outcome of causing human extinction.
Capitalism is deeply flawed, communism didn't work, feudalism wasn't very different from capitalism, and religion can be subverted by people with their own agendas.

John Maynard Keynes may have been good at sums, but his understanding of humanity was functionally nonexistent. IMHO.
Pasha, an Avatar story, my most recent fanfic, Avatar related, now complete.

I think that the solution to the problem will be an economic/social system that focuses on equilibrium with the planet.

The first step would be imposing strong limitations on childbirth, because more people take more resources to keep healthy, plus people usually want material possessions outside those they need to survive (entertainment, hobbies, etc.). The second step would be reforming the economy so that it operates by ensuring a flow of goods and currency that is cyclical instead of closed. Then, the third step would be reforming government so that there is one government for the whole planet plus some smaller regional governing bodies, which would work to keep people from becoming incredibly wealthy or powerful (which is what we have right now).

I don't know how to make an economy that works on equilibrium, but the central problem here is that capitalism focuses on indefinite growth, and that breaks many of the "laws" of ecology.

Quotebut the central problem here is that capitalism focuses on indefinite growth,
Capitalism: greed of our leaders
Mercantillism: greed of the king and the middle class (not the current middle class)
Roman Empire: The resources from the provinces go to Rome (the leader).

The leaders: Greedy since the beginning of the humanity.
