QuoteHair is an extension of the nervous system, it can be correctly seen as exteriorized nerves, a type of highly evolved 'feelers' or 'antennae' that transmit vast amounts of important information to the brainstem, the limbic system, and the neocortex.

Apparently Na'vi aren't the only ones with queues :P, quite interesting even if the site is a little conspiracy theory/pseudoscientific based.

Quite a lot of that site is fairly LOL-worthy, but the quote you provided does ring at least somewhat true.  Certainly when one shaves (in my case legs, of course XD) there is a massive loss of sensation and acute sensitivity to touch.  Which would be why I generally don't shave unless I have to.  I'd rather have people think I"m a bit of a granola than not feel a spider crawling up my legs any day! ;D ;D ;D

Uh...no.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that site is garbage.

You can't do that with hair. Nerves send electrical impulses to other nerves via complex Sodium and Potassium ion channels; Potassium ions (K+) and Sodium ions (Na+) alternate between each other at ridiculous speeds to send bits of information along nerves.

Hair cannot do this, because hair is mostly interlocked Casein (a protein) molecules, and has no way to transmit information to the nervous system. You might feel someone playing with your hair if you have long hair, or a cool breeze might tousle your hair around, but that's a function of the nerves near the end of the hair root, where movements at the other end of the hair are causing the root to move slightly and trigger the nerve to send sensory information to the brain.

Hair is dead. There are no nerves in it - as Raiden said, it is only a protein. If you have longish to long hair, try holding it in the middle (so you can't feel it moving) and then touch the ends past that middle, and you can't feel it. When something touches your hair, what you feel is the touch being transmitted to the root, where there are nerves in the skin. So while yes, technically you can feel things with your hair, it's limited to whether someone's touching it, or what the wind is doing :P. It also claims that hair 'emits energy', which is clearly false.

Looks like someone has been taking Withnail and I too seriously :P

The reason they have long hair is relatively simple: It looks much better, and long and healthy hair has always been a sign of health and a reproductive indicator, which is how humans evolved to be able to grow hair so much longer than other primates in the first place. Indeed, the majority of other humans did too until the early 20th century, particularly the upper classes, and this is returning today :)

Look at the sidebar links - one is about 'chemtrails' (the vapour caused by the passage of a plane in the right atmospheric conditions). Enough said.
Edit: This site is hilarious... Believing anything from there means there is no other word than gullible :P

It is not uncomon at all for long hair and spiritual meaing to be combined this example relates to people with dreadlocks from Africa. in some cultures long hair is considered a helping bond to the spirit world, and yes looking at this from a science viewpoint will simply equate to spiritual nonsence, if one looks at this example and yes the woman speaking (Imakhu) is interpeting Avatar from her cultural prespective of course not everyone will relate to what she has to say about long hair at 3:00 into this video but it shows an example of how people with kemetic spiritual roots see long hair there are many other peoples that see long hair as a part of there spiritual culture but this is the only example I could link to Avatar.
