so i was getting the corny idea of going to a new school next year and speaking nìNa'vi. but as well with that speaking english with a Na'vi accent? hahahaha  ;D. so I wanted to see, (without quoting the movie) who could pull off a Na'vi accent. this also means you can type English words showing where an accent would come in, or of course dropping some audio samples or videos of your best impressions if you like. :)

Alaksì srak?!...Kä!! ;D

note to OP:

(and self)

the FINAL authority on matters having to do with passing English words through the Na'vi sound system and transcribing them is clearly 'Oma Tirea.

OH yeah. I think it's hilarious! however it boils 'Oma Tirea's blood to anger, it seems.

I have a memory of seeing rules for this accent in some part of the vast special features that came with, I suppose, the blueray edition of the film.  I'm pretty sure we see part of a page explaining this.  I don't have a blueray player, or I'd check this myself.

'Oma Tirea

I wonder if that the same page as at the museum...

I would guess a lot of those are similar to what I wrote in my thread.

Screenshots/info, anyone?

...or is it not really in the BluRay edition?

Here:

Irayo.

However I should note that these aren't from Frommer, but from Carla Meyer, the Na'vi-English dialect coach of the movie.  These notes were also made at a time when the language was very young, so I wouldn't trust them completely.  N.K. the English "j" probably doesn't always get weakened, but in some cases may be merely devoiced.  The notes also don't describe whether the "th" sound gets stopped, or shifts to f/v or s/z.  Finally, in final position, p, t, and k may not be ejective, but unreleased instead, just as in Na'vi.
