This thread was splitted from "transitivity of 'eyng" thread.

I knew Plumps will find something useful. :D
Nice find!

I noticed dict-navi.com gives the following example sentence with transitive usage:

oe new 'iveyng ngeyä tìpawmit - I want to answer your question

I thought that the example sentences there were from official sources ??? Does anyone know where this example comes from?

Oh, that is interesting :) Pure speculation: if that would be the case, then maybe also aylati or even aylayä exists?

I think it's just a literal translation from English :) But I'm not sure that it's incorrect. Though likely...

I'd prefer ayleyä because this is pronoun :) And you forgot agentive aylal ;) But those are guesses only...

That example is not official, I think. I can't find the source of it.

If I were a mod to split this topic right now...

That word comes from *aylaheru, that's contracted to aylaru.
If 'eyng is intransitive and the thing I want to explain goes in the topical case (I see the same pattern line nume, btw), then aylari is indeed the topical version of aylaru. :)

Ninja'd! ;D

It's indeed not official. That must be a remnant from the early days before we started using official sentences for the examples. *sigh* Another thing on the list... :P

Concerning aylari, I've always considered that as the topic of a not yet confirmed *aylahe, "the others" or even a shortened or colloquial form of aylapo.
The LEP sent a paradigm to K. Pawl back in Feb of 2011 – no ruling as of yet.

Actually, aylahe is confirmed as "others": http://naviteri.org/2014/10/tson-si-fpomron-obligation-and-mental-health/ (look for saylahe)

Not so fast, ma eylan!  aylaru is really shortened from *aylaheru, but do not take it as base for other versions with case ending. Note, that lahe is adjective, so adding ay- + case ending can't be nothing more than special exception (until Paul gives us more guidelines about it)

Yeah, repeating is the mother of learning stuff. :D ;D
As I said, aylaru = short form of *aylaheru, and there is no reason why there shouldn't be also a topical form of aylaheri - aylari. :) I also think, there could be just aylahe = the others which has been confirmed - see LRC's link1 (not to be confused with lapo - other one)

1Why that word is not in the dictionary?

But aylari is from an official example. I don't see any problems with it.

I still prefer to have it confirmed because of lahe word class.
