The subjunctive is not used with commands.

Yes it is, but it's optional. There are plenty of examples of it with an plenty of examples of it without in the movie.

Mefoti yìm (without subjunctive)
Omatikayaru tìhawnu sivi (with subjunctive)
[21:42:56] <@Muzer> Apple products used to be good, if expensive
[21:42:59] <@Muzer> now they are just expensive

The subjunctive is not used with commands.

Quote from: Frommer2. Imperatives, either positive or negative, have two forms: either the bare root or the -iv- form. At an earlier point in the history of the language there was probably a polite/familiar distinction (the -iv- form being the politer one), but that's no longer the case. They're used interchangeably. So to say "Go!" you can say either kivä or just kä.

Trials and Transitivity (Feb 14)  Or were you making a theoretical point about calling this the subjunctive?

Taronyu

Well, I could be making a theoretical point...

...but it's more likely that I remember kä and 'eko from the movie, and then checked it up on the wiki page, which didn't say imperatives as a use of the subjunctive.

I stand semi-corrected.

I hope to have this ready in the next three or four weeks, with everything we know up to now.  Like Taronyu's dictionary, it will need to be updated as Frommer tells us new things.

'Oma Tirea
