I've spent the morning learning about localization/internationization.

Ma W.am fraposì, I think it can all be done.  I haven't begun yet to import all the definitions from the other languages, but I wanted to see first if we would have to create a separate wiki for each of them.  I don't think we do.  Check out

or even (and I really fudged on some of these)

Na'vi isn't offical ISO 639 (yet) but I started on that

There are limits to what I can change on the free server at Referata, but on our own server there's nothing I can't tweak!   :o

what in the world language is this written in? O.o and how does it work?
It Mediawiki's (the software behind Wikipedia and LN's wiki) own funk:

The hardest part is that there's no variables, loops or ELSEIF's.  It takes some getting used to.  :-X

any way you could PM me all the logic in pseudocode? I'd like to port this stuff to Python and somehow use it in Vrrtep 2. (with credits of course)

I have no idea about techno-babble :P

I just know/see that some words on the German translation are not correct or not translated at all :-\

Please tell me!  (I know I haven't done "translation", "skin blue", "syllable", "stress", or "derived words" yet.)

Yes, that's what I meant ... and I didn't see that Änderungen had the trema above the A because of my resolution.

Otherwise it looks good :)

what he means is all the content of all of the pages is in English, not just the interface. Natives of every language would have to update their copy of the wiki. (which i assume would be easier with SM)

Imo it just seems like a general PITA to have so many dictionaries, and like wm.annis, I would like to see ONE multilingual dictionary database that powers everything such that updating it would automaticallu update everything else. only thing is, one would have to add examples and notes to the wiki entries.

Random Q: how easy/massively difficult would it be to install Semantic Mediawiki and move the content there and then start using that instead? is there anything better about the current wiki over semantic or is it the "if it aint broke dont fix it" deal? Just curious. (not against keeping it as is, and also not against migration.)

Also, @admins/other mods: why are the dictionary threads in /intermediate and not /website-info ?

What would I have to do to sell the Powers At Be on this one?  I know I've gotten on this high-horse before, so I'm not going to make a big deal.  But if there's anything I can do sell you on Semantic Mediawiki, I'll do it.  I'm honestly very excited about all the multilingual things I've learned!  :)
