Speaking of pictures...

I have been pondering this a while and speaking as someone that is still on steep side the learning curve, the relative complexity of this language makes it difficult for me to bring the rules to correctly spoken spontaneous speech (I have grave doubts that I am alone in this). Although I'm not saying it would work for everyone, it occurs to me that the best and easiest way some folks are going to be able learn this language is by pairing entire spoken phrases (not just individual words) with imagery, like Rosetta Stone, but with even more immersion if possible. Meanwhile, printable documentation like the Pocket Guide and the Nutshell are quite valuable and I am grateful for what we have. I will keep pounding the vocabulary into my memory and hope that the grammar starts to click at some point.  :P

This is one of the few things for which I think Second Life actually offers useful educational opportunities — virtual world immersion, where face-to-face language immersion isn't really possible.

Another option, now that I think of it could be google wave.  I don't know too much about it, but I know you can create documents that can be edited at anytime by anyone and you can literally replay all the changes made to a document as a video.  It's still in beta though.
