Hello all,

On the advice of Markì, I am interested in also surveying those Na'vi speakers who do not speak English, and was wondering if anyone would be willing to volunteer to translate the survey (found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NAVI) into other languages?  German, Russian, French, Hungarian, Polish, Dutch or anything else (Na'vi included  ;D).  Although, I won't be able to pay you for your time, I'd be more than happy to credit any translators in the reports/papers I may write on the information I collect.

If you are interested, please feel free to message me.

Ma Kìrìstin,

Those of us who have already taken the survey can't see the questions again.

I suggest that you request that volunteers post their names here and you can PM them the text in English for the translation.

I am willing to do the Na'vi so:

 Prrton = Na'vi

Another factor to take into consideration. Are you going to collect results in all of the languages for which the survey is translated?

If so, how will you get them back into English translation for your analysis. For example, if you get 19 responses in Russian and you don't speak Russian, do you need the original volunteer to translate the answers as well. What are the translators signing up for (exactly)?

OR, am I misreading this request and you simply want the NEWS/ANNOUNCEMENT of the project translated and that news widely distributed; but for everyone taking it to complete their answers in the best English that they can?

OR, are you planning on providing translations of the individual questions within the survey, yet you'd prefer that everyone respond in English regardless?

Kemaweyan

I could translate it into Russian, Ukrainian and Na'vi (it's already occupied :) ).

Yes, I was originally thinking of the translating the survey (and the cover letter/consent form) itself rather than the advertisement.  I assumed that individuals would answer the survey in whatever language it was in, which could potentially leave me with many answers I might not be able to read.  So, there are two options.  Individuals who volunteer to translate a survey could also volunteer to translate the answers OR I could look for other translators (and possibly funding for this) depending on how many answers I receive. Once the survey has ended, I can let the volunteer know how many replies I have and they can decide if they want to attempt to translate these as well.  Does that work?

Your idea for a signing up for languages sounds like a good idea.  Please put the language you are volunteering to help with and then your name and I will PM you the questions/cover letter.
