tsatu
« on: April 07, 2014, 02:12:15 pm »
Kaltxì ma smuk,

I was translating some words on dict-na'vi.com, there I saw the word tsatu.
My question is, it this word really canonical?

If yes, what's the difference between tsapo and tsatute?

In dict-na'vi, the source link is en.wiktionary.org.
The LN dictionary say this:
Quote
tsatu: [ˈ͡tsa.tu] PF dem. that person (c.w. from
tsa that and tute person)
HOW it could come from Frommer, if
Is tsatu canonical? If so, where/when is it from?

ASG, glossed as "that person."
?

And something related:
It's actually glossed as "someone", but I'm trying to keep "X-one" for po-derivatives and "X-body" for tute-derivatives. Not really a meaningful distinction in English, but we may have a difference in Na'vi between tsa'u "that thing", tsapo "that one (animate)", and tsatu "that person": it's not yet clear.

It comes from ASG, therefore I think it was created by Frommer directly for the movie, but not used for some reason.

Tsatu is a demonstrative pronoun, shortened from the noun tsatute - that person.
Difference between tute-derived and po-derived nouns is that po means person, animal or any animate living thing, unlike tute, which is only for person (people).
