Should I mark where infixes go?

Yes, please mark them with a _
Yes, but mark them in some other way
No, we're old enough to do them ourselves
Only mark those ones that need it, like compounds.

Oh, wait a sec, you want to put it in the IPA? I thought you wanted to put it in the actual word!  In that case, I think the middle dot works just fine on it's own, without the separate appendix.
If I bork up what I'm trying to say, even if it's not relevant to the conversation, please DO NOT HESITATE to PM me, and you will get karma!

Yeah. It's in the IPA, which people should have some trouble reading, regardless of dottage or dotage.

in 'awstengyem, it looks like you syllabified with periods, noted infix position with raised dot, and stress with apostrophe. knowing this info, thats pretty useful. I assume the new dipthong ipa dictionary is not up yet. good stuff, Taronyu.

raised dots for infix positions looks good, irayo ma taronyu.

I agree with the others; that looks good, ma Taronyu.  Thanks for all the work!

Is there a way to use "zero width" characters, which can be placed in the word without destroying the search ability? Roughly something like this (though not exactly what I meant, because of their space consumption): yomtꜞìng, yomtꜝìng, yomt⸆ìng, yomt˰ìng, yomt⁞ìng, yomtꜜìng, yomtꞈìng, yomtꜚìng, yomt꞉ìng, yomtꜗìng
However, more symbols there would be distracting, too. I know TeX has lots of special character, just a thought.

I don't think that there is a way to use zero-width characters. I'm not sure how I feel about those: good thought, though.

So, shall I mark everything? I think that this is a fairly non-intrusive way of doing it. Everything is IPA but the mid-dot, which would show where pronunciation changes in non-dictionary form anyway.

I think I'll go ahead and do this, and just mark for everything, but put the (ii) for odd infixes, just to point them out to ya'll.

Sound Kosher?

As for the diphthong stuff -- you may have noticed that I changed the preamble to reflect how it's going to be, in this dictionary, because Frommer agrees that [aj] is fine. All of this information is shared in Fìkìng!

kewnya txamew'itan

I think that's probably the best course of action.

Well...

...it's done now. I didn't get a substantial amount of people, I thought, to warrant taking out the infixes, and the mid-dot is fairly unobtrusive. Also, the kind of people who would vote here are mostly not those who would benefit from marking. So, there it is.

I have now marked all syllables and infix positions. Please fire away at my thousands of erros that I didn't catch. It's annoying that I find it hard to catch them. Arg. Well.

thanks for voting guys. Locking thread. Please go back to talking in the normal Dictionary thread. Woot.
