Irayo, ma Taronyu. Aylì'ul ngayä meuiät oeru txìm.

Irayo also for correcting my corrections! Ayoeng nuerme...

I used to work as an editor part time - it is enjoyable to challenge my Na'vi and editing skills together!

I can't believe I didn't notice the -a at the end of ikran, for some reason I thought ikrana was the word for it.
Also, thank you for clarifying the prepositional object / direct object thing, I had forgotten that, but it nagged at the back of my mind even as I wrote that suggested correction.

Irayo, Taronyu.

A few comments on the Affixes – Subject/Object worksheet.
In the narrative, the line is "Po mì Iknimaya ke tok." but the Answers section says "Tarok mì Iknimaya ke tok."
Also in the narrative, the first instance of "Thundering Mountains" is misspelled "Inknimaya".

For #9 "She kills with a spear" and #10 "A leonopteryx hunts him", the pronoun "po" is used. If the gender is specified in the English sentences, shouldn't poe and poan be used?

Lastly, and this may just be a problem with my PDF viewer (Preview in OS X), the case marker for the subject of an intransitive verb is displaying as "Æ" instead of "Ø". This is the navi_grammar_1.4_erg.accu.pdf. The case marker displayed correctly on the older ergative1.3.1.pdf.

Alìm, ke tìkawng. I think you meant to say "tìng", not txìm, though. Hahaha. :D

I'll look over those worksheets again, thanks hiyìka. :)

Thanks so much for your effort in putting these materials together! I think they are a great help as well.

I've only started with the affixes1.1 file and already have a question. I haven't read anything that somebody else spotted that.

You mention lenition after ay- but why isn't it happening in ay- + taronyu ? I thought t is affected by lenition as well to s. So, it would be aysaronyu or saronyu (hunters), wouldn't it?
Same with tukru (spear) => aysukru or sukru

Please, correct me if I'm wrong - I just don't want to start memorizing the wrong 'rules'.

Irayo, kìyevame.

i might be wrong, but i believe that lenition (in this case) will only occure with "ts"

tsmukan - aysmukan OR smukan

i dont think lenition takes place with only a "t". like tukru and taronyu

yes indeed it would lenit to aysaronyu, or simply saronyu. Thanks for pointing this out. I think today I need to learn lenition and then update all my sheets accordingly.

@ damp
So am I, damp

From Frommer's article in the Language Log

Quote
Lenition. Following certain adpositions and prefixes, initial consonants mutate as follows:
   px, tx, kx    ⇒    p, t, k
   p, t/ts, k    ⇒    f, s, h

Glottal stop:
   ’    ⇒    Ø

8 C’s participate in rule: px, tx, kx, ’, p, t, ts, k
*My emphasis

The language that I know of that has lenition makes no exceptions which letter/sound follows... If a particle/prefix requires lenition the following sound must be changed...

@Skxawng: glad I could help ;)

Sorry, didn't mean to... Just did a quick search and couldn't find anything that was pointing to that. In that case, you deserve the 'honour' of having found the error ;D

Is there enough reliable information on the triggers for lenition for a worksheet?  I thought it was still kind of gray.

well the worksheet so far is pretty simple, since, to my knowledge there are only 3 or 4 things that actually trigger lenition. (Please correct me if I'm wrong here)

According to the only source labeled "reliable" by Dr. Frommer (the wiki), I think you are correct.

ideally. However now that I am no longer sitting around at my parent's house all day for the holidays and am instead working 9-5 the rate of my production will probably get slooowed dooown. That said, tonight I want to finish up the lenition sheet and get it up here for proofreading.
