So i've been pretty confused in the affix part of the na'vi language, and thinking back to my days of learning french and whatnot I realized that what helped me a lot was doing worksheets, and problem solving instead of simply trying to memorize the definitions and ideas.  I'm a 'learn by doing' kinda person i suppose.

Anyway this morning I decided, to help myself learn prepositions and plurality and all that stuff I figured I'd make a simple worksheet that started with a quick explanation of Plurality and Pronouns, followed by some fill-in-the-blank sentences, their answers, and a short gloss. My thought is that the process of making the sheets, and then of course doing the sheet would help me get a solid grip on the stuff I've been having trouble digesting.

Posting the results in IRC I had Taronyu look it over and make corrections (as he is a linguist) and the resulting worksheet is made:

Taronyu is currently working on a similar worksheet for Cases, and I'm currently working on a worksheet for Prepositions.  Ultimately we want to have a set of rescources to post in the beginner forums (sticked and locked topic)  first starting with Affixes. So tentatively the worksheets to be done are:

Affixes 1.1 - Possessives and Pronouns

Affixes 1.3.1 - Ergative/Accusative Cases
Affixes 1.3.2 - Topical, Genitave and Dative Cases
Affixes 1.3.3 - Ergative/accusative/topical/genitave/dative case fill-in-the-blanks.

Other worksheet topics
Gender
Lenition
Prepositions
Adjectives
Verbs
Questions

From there we could go into other parts of the language past Affixes. Additionally, more sheets with more fill-in-the-blanks on the same topics could and should be made.

"Finished" writing another - This time on Topical, Genitive, and Dative cases. Taronyu is working on Ergative and Accusative, and we'll have a third sheet on the subject with fill-in-the-blanks with all the cases in one. (more difficult, explains when to use topical, when to use accusative, etc)

HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure I've made a LOT of  mistakes. I'm no linguist.

Please let me know if my understanding is screwed up, or if I've made a mistake in my 'answers' or in my 'questions' or even if I forgot an apostrophe when writing na'vi.

your a kinesthetic learner, me too, what i usually do to learn this was is compose sentences and check to see if the sentence matches all the rules, but of course this method also requires external input.

edit* these worksheets are a good idea for repetition, we need the more knowledgeable ones to compose a few of these.

you got me there, fine I'll give it to you that the best way to get better at something is to repeat the action many times. But the best way to learn something is up to the individual, how does that sound, better, no?

Skxawng, for the affix exercises, while it's not important for the exercise in general, it mightbe good to keep the examples grammatically correct.

There's no actual noun there that is being.  I get that the important bit is more identifying the suffixes, but still best not to give grammatically bad examples.

my grammar is lacking, clearly. I want the examples and the sentences to be grammatically correct, and if they're not, please let me know so I can fix them and learn myself.  what has been given here is grammatically correct to the best of my knowledge, i'm no linguist, need yo help!

here is the new, updated, and now grammatically correct version of the previous worksheet.

The last worksheet I was flipping my -yä's and -ri's and generally throwing topic around whenever i possibly could.

This version is hopefully far better than that last one. But as usual, if you see some sort of error, or correction that needs to be made, LET ME KNOW

I made one for the case system. It's awesome, I think. I don't know where to upload it.

I've also made a larger, more all-inclusive dictionary than the Pocket guide. Still got some stuff to do on that, though.
