I am both a newcomer to the forum and the Na'vi language. I know some phrases and words I've picked up from watching the movie, but I have no idea what half of the linguistics terms mean. Like, for example, what is a diphthong? Or, for that matter, how do you pronounce the words? I've been trying to learn the language since I saw the movie way back in December 2009. I just need to know this so it I can speak the language.

It's a pain, but it's like field-stripping a weapon. Repition, repetion.

PS, I am learning German, if that helps.

Kaltxì, ma tsmukan. To learn linguistic terminology used for Na'vi please look here. It's from links to useful documents that also would help you. Besides please read this topic.

And you can join the Project NgayNume and The Neytiri Project. And of course, you can ask any questions here ;)

Also, regarding the pronunciation, I would suggest either this page or the sticky posts of the forum's audio section. :)

The audio section is a tad outdated IMHO....

...however I might be able to help (as would others who have been able to properly speak the language :))

Kaltxì! I am Txonä Rolyu, a teacher of Project NgayNume. We are always looking for new students :) Here is the info page about the Project. PLEASE don't worry about being too far behind to join. We are actually not making much progress because of lack of students and lack of practice outside the classroom (I am sad to say) Please join us, we'd love to have you :)

Both the NgayNume and Neytiri Projects seem to be interesting. If I don't sign up for one, the other. NgayNume might be better for me.
