[Edit : oh, isn't "leiu" a form of "lu" ? and "ultxa" of "ulte" ? if it's that, i think i've understood, even if didn't understood the meaning of changing the words...]
ultxa is "meeting".  leiu is (I think) lu "be" modified with the -ei- infix meaning the speaker is happy about it.

Oh, yes, thanks ! I found that on another topic o//
(i will die with these infixes...)

adding a "si" after "ultxa" should make it into a verb... I think

Hi, my name is Stephen, and i live in Southern California in Lancaster, about an hour north of LA. I'm a semi-professional DJ/producer of EDM [Electronic Dance Music], and loved the idea of learning the language. Aside from English I only speak Goa'uld from Stargate, but the language doesn't have many [any] people working on it, so its fallen to the wayside. I'm hoping that Na'vi will become my new constructed language.

we can be even more nerdy than the people who learn sindarin/quenya/klingon!

Darn right! We'll show them! :-D
Even more nerdy are the people who dabble in Sindarin, Quenya, Klingon, AND Na'vi... Oh, and Russian. And Talossan.
In other words, folks like me.

My name is Justin. I'm 19, from Northeast Texas, and a citizen of the Kingdom of Talossa.
My display-name is supposed to say "will learn (and excited about it)," but I'm not sure if I've done it right. Any comments?

...Goa'uld from Stargate...

Woo, goa'uld. Now there's something I should have gotten into a while back. Except the speaking-with-your-throat thing.. and it just doesn't sound too pretty.

Hello, my name is Eli, I'm from Mexico and on December 17 saw the James Cameron film Avatar. I must say that was impressive, both the effects and the message and how it was built as Pandora, the ecosystem and their habitats.

I like languages, study Japanese a while, and now study English, but unfortunately still have to stay for a translator. So both existing and not existing languages interest me. Now I want to learn the Na'vi and at the same time learn English with your help. I hope so.

Greetings.

Harliquinn

I don't post much initially and I know how fads run so who knows how long we'll all be together.  Right now I'm surfing at level one, but my level of involvement goes to 11.  So here I am:

My name is Jason, but I prefer J and totally need a decently Na'Vi handle for this board at some point.  I currently reside outside New York City.   This will be the third constructed language that has peaked my interest after Tolkien's Elvish languages and Lojban (because of XKCD).  I have no great talent for languages, my own English aside, but I have picked up a bit of Spanish, Portugese, German, Hebrew, Latin and curses in various languages and consider myself very much a language geek, even if I haven't found the right textbooks to really learn all about languages yet.  I've been frustrated trying to learn languages in a vacuum in the past and I'm hoping this board will stay afloat long enough to encourage communal learning for myself and all of you interested parties out there.

This seems like this is a great start to a worldwide community of Na'Vi speakers and I look forward to joining your ranks and help to leave our mark on language for generation yet to come.  F the Naysayers.  I would like to see us growing and hooking up with Frommer himself to become the central guiding light of a continually gorwing, evolving and developing language.  5k works in two years!  It will take work and dedication, but I'm game if you are.

Lets do this.

J.

You know the numbers will just keep growing if 1) Avatar does well in the box office, because if that happens, 2) James Cameron has mentioned making this a Trilogy.  I feel it will do well, but the question is, how well?

I hope this develops into this generation's "Klingon," if you will.

On indefinite leave.  Will be back periodically. Feel free to say Kaltxí: I'll get back when I can. :D

It was such an incredible film!  And in 3D?  This WILL become the new Klingon! Luckily there is already such enthusiasm with this, and so many people are so dedicated to developing this so much further.  We all deserve a round of applause!

I've always had a fascination with created (Tolkein's Elvish, lojban, etc) or dead(ish) languages.  However my talent for a second language is sadly lacking.

The fact that Avatar was an amazing movie, combined with the fact that fans are still trying to understand the language, has certainly fascinated me.  It is certainly less intimidating not knowing everything about it when nobody else does either. :)

This is a handle I use on many forums, but I considered transferring it to something somewhat equivalent in Na'vi.  If Palulukan weren't already taken I might have gone with that, as it seems like the closest analog on Pandora.  I may still opt for something new if it strikes my fancy. :)

Kaltxì!

Not too sure what to say here. I'm Rob. I'm a software engineer, longtime sci-fi/fantasy geek, and aspiring pilot. I wish my flight training was more like flying the ikran in the movie. :P

My linguistic training is pretty woeful. I had a handful of Spanish courses in high school and college, but didn't learn much beyond what was needed to get a passing grade. Or, as was said in another film...

"I only speak two languages, English and bad English." :P

Haha, that is a classic line, from another movie with a nice (if not nearly so elaborated) language.  I could totally picture Jake saying that near the beginning of his time with the Na'vi, too.  :)

Hi, My name is Felipe, and i'm from Australia

I can speak portuguse, english (duh), spanish and german

I SOOOOO want to learn Na'vi

Lora'txum

I'm Raina, art student in college, living in Georgia right now. I only know a handful of phrases in French, Spanish, and German, some Russian curses and a Ukrainian folk song, but I'm told I have a great ability to adapt and pick up the accents of languages. Hope it doesn't go to my head. :P

I've seen Avatar 3 times now in theaters and am still getting goosebumps about it! I'm so excited to see all these people here willing to learn the language too. Really hoping we get some more info from Cameron and the gang in hollywood now that the movie is out.

Kaltxi! Name's Joe. 20 years old. Currently I'm a student (Bio-engineering) living in Boulder, Colorado. I've been doing computer repair and some web-design work on the side to get me through school. Apparently I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to the Avatar world (I've only seen it once!  :P), but I absolutely loved hearing the Na'vi language throughout the film. I've studied Japanese for a few years now, but most of the languages that I know for computers, not alien cultures. I'm excited to learn with all of you!

Chuan

Hi, I'm Chuansen
I'm from a small place at the bottom of the world called New Zealand (CGI for avatar was done here :) ).
I am 15 with an interests in computers (CGI, Programming, Games etc) Books (Si-Fi, Fantasy) a bit of Airsoft and quite a bit more. I do quite well in English, and took German for two years and know a few Portuguese greetings and many Asian foods (yum!). I have seen AVATAR twice now, once in 2d and once in 3d, and enjoyed both times extremely, it felt as if I was actually in Pandora, so now I am crazy about everything Avatar, and that includes the unique language, which I now want to learn. The after the first movie the word for moron , idk how to spell it, stuck in my head and me and my sister are now having competitions with each other, hissing, guttural clicking and calling each other morons, just for fun, no harm intended to each other.

So yeh, I look forward to learning Na'Vi!

p.s are there any audio files that I can learn from, as I learn best by hearing and repeating ( I have only seen text around)

Thanks

Chuan  ;)
