Hello everyone.
As you probably could guess by my being on here is that I fell in love with the movie Avatar and especially the Na'vi and their beautiful language. So I thought, just for fun, I'll try to learn it. And it seems like this is the place to do it!  :)
So I hope that I can at least recognize words and grammar by the time the 2nd movie comes out, and make some new friends.
Irayo,
Pinkpaw187 (I'll think of a cooler name later but this was all I could think of right now :))

Kaltxì ma tsmuk ulte zola'eiu nìprrte'! :)

You're on the right way, this is the best place to learn our beautiful language.
At first I advise you come to this stuff and read this language studying tips. If you want pick language easier, it's only one way - try to speak. And don't be afraid of errors and ask all that you don't understand. Everyone here will be glad to help you.
And listen this Karyu Pawl speech, it helps you pronounce difficult Na'vi sounds. :)

I agree. :) This is really the best place for any Avatar and/or Na'vi lover! ;)

I'm pretty convinced you'll be able to recognize grammar and vocab by 2014, unless you're learning veeeery slowly. ;D The Na'vi language isn't difficult, you'll see. :)

Hope you'll have a lot of fun with the learning! :D

P.S. Your title is right, except the i should be ì instead: kaltxì. :)

Kaltxì and a big welcome! ;D

To type in Na'vi, please try KXWERTY ;D the fastest, specifically designed for Na'vi layout for Windows, based off qwerty. ;D link in my signature.

Interesting, but I prefer Alt+AIai = ÄÌäì. Otherwise I would have to have four layouts English, Russian, Latvian and KXWERTY. It's so much for me. ;D

Kaltxì. You should be able to speak na'vi by the time Avatar 2 comes out. :)

understandable for someone like you with all kinds of layouts but most people only have one. everyone who has downloaded kxwerty is always praising about how much they like it so i figured i'd throw it out there as an alternative. to me, it makes more sense if youre gonna have a keyboard it might as well be as different to the one you already have(speaking about US ENG/UK ENG) as possible than to have a mirror copy with two things changed. plus you dont need to push more than one key to get one letter. thats my favorite part about it. the other cool thing is one key two characters for the ejectives, ts and ng. much quicker this way. but maybe thats just my preference. so sad that kxwerty because of that, it is not possible on Linux...

I can agree that kxwerty makes the most sense for people who do much typing in Na'vi. for anyone else I can see why they might use alt codes or Alt+... to each his own really. no obligations, just options. ;D

fì'u. :D Na'vi is logical, fun, and simple compared to many natural languages of Earth. the more you use it the better. "Use it or lose it" is MOST CERTAINLY true for languages learned after your native language. ;)

fear not making mistakes, and fear not the Na'vi-only section.

Wow very cool. Well thanks again. :)
Another question: whats the best place to go learn pronunciation? I've found lots of grammar and vocab resources but not a good one for that. I don't want to start learning and be pronouncing everything wrong.  :-\

can you skype or use teamspeak? I find VoIP programs to be most effective and interactive when it comes to vocally using the language. It's great.
